i feel the complete opposite way about vergil, from what i’ve see i think they done as good of a job at keeping him true to his original incarnation in DMC as they did with dante. and he looks damn fun so far! ^^ he will probably replace magneto on my current viper and/or dante teams. he has a horizontal assist, if it works for viper relaunches, i will definitely kick mags and play viper/dante/vergil or viper/vergil/dante. viper/dante will still be a set combination in ultimate for me though, jam sesh is just too good.

I only saw one move that Vergil has that Dante doesn’t already have, two if you count the sword super thing.

Viper/Vergil/Dante seems Godliek right now… since Vergil shares similar broken properties (like stinger) with Dante.

Iron Fist just looks cool. I hope he is as awesome as he looks though. Im still waiting on Nova. I really hope he has a projectile assist or Iron Fist has something awesome.

Im not a big Iron Fist fan but when I read that he has a dragon inside him I thought it would have been awesome if he shot a dragon out of his fists or something lol

also @ FlyingVe. When do you call Jill for the Viper combo extension

he has three different types of teleports including air OK, a walljump, an uppercut that is cancelable into a teleport to the ground, projectile style swords that he can summon at different places on the screen depending on strength (like viper SH), a berserker slash style move where he moves forward and crosses through the opponent (slower than slash, but reaches almost fullscreen), two different powerup hypers, and some stuff i forgot about now. also he lacks an airdash and a double jump if not in devil trigger. for me, that are more than enough differences to dante. :slight_smile: it also seems like he has slightly less range than dante, but a bit faster startup on his normals. has to be confirmed though.

I’ve seen more since then, to make me say he no longer a clone. But there are still too many shared moves, I don’t like that.

It looks as if Virgil has no synergy with C.Viper as far as assists go, which is kinda disappointing but whetever…

He seems like a very stripped down version of Dante with better hyper “Power-ups” to make up for it

-no jam session
-no double jump or air dash outside of devil trigger
-no real projectile
-needs 4 bars for a lvl 3
-no good assist
+better teleports
+appears to have faster normals

He does have that long range breserker barrage assist, that may be decent for Viper.

But yeah, Dante still seems like the better twin.

Wait, do we know all 3 of Vergil’s assists? I thought we only knew the running slash one?

I reserve my judgement on Vergil until I get to play him for a bit, I see some potential, but can’t really tell from the limited amount we’ve been shown.

I have a question I’m not sure as to where to put this since I’m new to SRK, but I’m sure someone will redirect me. I know this is a little soon to consider but I’m worried about how the ability to x factor in the air will affect vipers ability to crust an incoming character. How do you guys think this would affect the focus setup on an incoming character, and would viper really be able to take advantage of an air xfc? Just food for thought.

Air XFC will hurt all airborne setups, but not as much as you think. Most setups are pretty strong, and you can only XFC if you block… not if you get hit.

i think the most important part of considering viper’s teammates is their assist. so i think it may be too early to judge whether vergil will fit in. same with ironfist, i see ironfist being a fairly good anchor character but he may need some help getting in, so maybe not THAT good.

so what about the focus unblockable on an incoming character, does that mean its inapplicable, because as of now its a beast tactic if you set it up right, but if they can air xfgc what do you think that would mean?

If you’re doing a real trap with an assist, it means nothing. You would need an air super with invul to bail you out, only Sent and Phoenix have those.

yea I do a seismo into ammys cold star or something akin to that or i’ll do it with hidden missiles.

I’m surprised at how much synergy viper has with Zero.

burn kick and seismo assist both benefit Zero and Zeros’s alpha assist is like a ghetto jam session that works great as a combo finisher and AA for Viper

The jill vid is finally done, excuse my amatuer editing skills. It came out a bit longer then I expected.

I made sure to include a few samples from Jill/Viper/Dante

Zero has a really nasty midscreen unblockable set up with Viper. It will connect 100% of the time if they tech backwards. Its just a ground series that you end in Shipugga and on the last hit you teleport B + call burn kick assist. If they tech backwards they will end up at a perfect distance where you are landing cr. b from one side and Viper will be coming in overhead on the other.

Generally with Zero you can do enough damage to kill low-medium health characters off a solid hit anyways… but for characters like Wesker, She Hulk, and Taskmaster (higher healths) its nice to get a solid 300K on the ground into the unblockable set up into more damage to get close if not kill entirely. Of course it only works if they tech backwards, but when people are at midscreen I notice they naturally tech this way like 80% of the time. Bad players will always tech backwards lol.

It’s pretty easy to tech backwards on mistake too in this game.
