Yeah, I’m kinda feeling that whole, “two point characters” thing with Viper/Jill. Though jill makes for great hitconfirms and combo extenders. Plus if you DHC just right Machine gun spray does a ton of damage. I’ll keep playing with it for a while, but it doesn’t seem super effective so far.
Besides, my 2nd team is a Jill team, so I can get my fix there.
hey guys, dropped viper prior to getting my stick since she was frustrating to play on pad, but now that I’ve been playing Magneto on point a LOT and am pretty well-adjusted to stick, I picked her up again. now running Magneto (a)/Viper (b)/Doom (y) and I’m liking it so far since it’s capable of really flashy shit without going in the direction of Dante lol. played him for a while but I’m just not feeling his playstyle. I wanna try to make the team my main so I don’t have to rely on derpy Mag/Wes/Sen when Ultimate drops, since DHC glitch is being removed.
I’m settled on Mag/Viper after watching Marlinpie play at EVO. who should I use in the back? I have Doom with rocks for now, but I was just wondering what characters you guys like using as an anchor. maybe Dormammu with dark hole assist?
Well i think Viper in front and then magneto is way better. Also Doom works well for both those characters but a character with a lockdown assist would be best so Dante, Amaterasu, or Chun li might work
I’m not as confident in my viper compared to my magneto so I’m putting her in second for now. as I get better with her, I’ll try her out on point. don’t really like dante, ammy, or chun though. would doom’s hidden missiles be more of a lockdown or zoning assist?
Both, It depends on your playstyle. If your going in with with rushdown objective, you can to get in safely without worry since your opponent wont be pressing buttons while missiles are out. If you want to Zone with Disruptah and Seismos, Missiles would be good for this is well.
You definitely want Viper in front, if only because she gets alot of mileage out of EM disruptor. It’s good for helping her get in and you can do FADC relaunch with it. Also, you DHC into Magnus safely.
Lately ive been running Zero/Viper/Dante (in that order) and loving it. I try and build meter with Zero so when Viper comes in I have plenty EX seismos at my disposal. I never realized how busted Zero really was until I have gotten use to the whole charging buster with him. Pretty much just charge that buster and press H a lot (standing or air) and its pretty hard to touch him.
Zero has a guranteed midscreen unblockable reset too if the opponent air techs backwards after a ground series. Ground series, call viper burn kick + teleport B, cr. B and it will always hit if the opponent techs backwards. I haven’t really started incorporating Sougenmu assist into my game yet as my Zero is still fresh out the oven and pretty terrible.
The overall terrible health of the team kind of sucks but who needs health when it is hard to even touch you lol.
So the plan is build ‘crazy go nuts’ meter with Zero, then use that meter to go ‘crazy go nuts’ with Viper. I like that plan… I may have to play with that some more.
Yea pretty much. Its so bloody easy to get a first hit with Zero so I just thought that I should abuse it. If I can get 3/4 meters by the time Viper comes in then it is a nightmare for the other player regardless of who is on the screen. Its nothing but seismos into focus attack into EX seismos. I am actually pretty happy I haven’t really played anyone else that does this otherwise I would probably break my stick.
A lot of buster, st. and air H, ex seismos, oh yea… forgot to mention I have Dante chilling in the back with Jam sessions just in case lol
Nice I am going to practice that one tonight. My Zero bnb at the moment is stupidly basic. its basically just ground series launch, BB level 3 buster, down forward lightning, relaunch, air BBCS, call dante + OTG level 3 buster, rainbow.
Every now and then when im playing with Zero I will just laugh because of the tools that Capcom gave him in this game. Im really starting to think he is #1 in this game. Keep pressing buttons basically because there isn’t much anyone can do.
You can also obviously start it with just 5A(hold). But I wanted to point out the jC~A(hold) trick. It isn’t hard, but it isn’t obvious to people who are just starting out with Zero.
You can probably do a better combo if you have a charge when you start the combo, but with this one, you don’t need it, which is nice to know.
If you want I can throw together a vid of the combo I use, though I’m sure it’s not fully optimized.
Yes please that would be fantastic. My Zero is completely garbage right now its embarassing lol. I don’t get nearly the amount of damage I should with that broken thing.
Ive been meaning to explore MODOK lately too. Anyone know what MODOK/Viper have to offer each other?
MODOK in my opinion is the most technical character in the game. I was surprised at how hard he was to use when I first took him into training mode. He is one of the funnest in the game by far too. I like him because hes the type of character where if he gets any kind of momentum at all then it can be ridiculously hard to stop him. Getting started is the hard part though and a good handful of top tiers can pretty easily keep him contained.
I dunno who would be the 3rd though. Dante is the obvious choice but I want a Dante-less team as he pretty much occupies a spot on all my combinations. I was thinking maybe tossing in Sentinel with drones or Doom missles. I fought a really good Modok once who pretty much destroyed me because of drones assist. There was just so much on the screen at all times it was one of the most frustrating things I have ever encountered in a fighting game before lol. A lot of it was due to the lack of matchup knowledge at the time though.
Yeah, that is true, it’s the hitconfirming thing that I think pushes IM to the hardest character spot in my opinion. Hit confirming with MODOK isn’t too hard.
Yea hit confirming with IM is LOL compared to most of the easy mode hit confirm characters in this game. The more I think about it I think im gonna roll with Doom missles for my Modok/Viper team. I really like the lockdown that missles provides MODOK to get some gnarly momentum going.
