@gots, Thanks for the input. I was thinking the same things, and if anything, I would just use his tatsu for standard mixup potential but not so much as a combo extender due to tatsu’s properties period. But I just love the character in general unfortunately. I guess I’ll try TM. I find akuma’s anchor very reliable, but how is TM’s anchor possibilities?
TM’s combos just don’t seem as “pumped” as I feel when Akuma does a double beam hyper in 1 standard bnb combo like a b0$$
trish wouldnt be a bad choice, but i dont see the point of having both chun and viper on the same team but if you like them both go for it =). I would suggest maybe running the team in this order trish(low voltage),viper(seismo or low voltage), chun li(lightning legs). The reason this order might help would be because you can combo into trish and score a knockdown, and then round harvest. after round harvest activates, tag in a character and either viper or chun can get in easier. if you use the bk assist, and tag in chun after round harvest, you can go for an unblockable while round harvest is active. Round harvest also allows for viper to gain some unblockables. Another setup you might be able to use is after round harvest, call in viper, and charge up a focus attack. While the focus attack is charging, you can call chun lis assist to pin them for a bit and then you hit them with a unbloackable charged lvl 3 focus attack. Also low voltage allows viper to continue to combo after a thunder knuckle. Also you can combo from viper’s burst time into trish’s round harvest. Ans while the character is being hit by round harvest, you can set some traps up with trish and tag in another character or stay with trish in there and go for extended combos or resets
Now the viper assist depends on what you want for chun li. if you want to extend her combos, use seismo assist since chun doesnt have an otg. But you dont really need to extend chun lis combos cause she has some really really long combos already. There are alota setups possible with the team you run. All three characters can be decent anchors, as well as on point characters.
Also im not too sure but you might be able to use chun’s lightning legs to extend vipers combos.
Ironman and Doom are probably better choice though but if you wanna use trish i hop this helps. If i gave any false information feel free to correct me and sorry for confusing you if I did
What do you guys think about Viper/Ammy/Sentinel?
I’m trying to prep for Ultimate so I’m leaving Tron because she’s going to be Hsien-Ko tier soon. Viper seems like one of those secret top tier characters, so I’m interested in training with her until Ultimate hits. Any specific combos and setups for this team?
Lol I ment pump as in execution “adrenaline/style” so to speak. Like I get a pretty good thrill doing a second hyper after j.S-ing a guy from fireball super, then jumpin back throwin a tiny fireball then the hyper for style and random extra damage
I think I WILL pick up TM though. Good Arrow DHC and a great assist that synergizes well with CV’s combos. I’ll learn to like him like I did akuma
So a CV/Dante/TM would cover (in terms of assists) horizontal, AA, mixup potential, and combo extensions for CV as well as providing a reasonable anchor in TM and dante, am I correct?
thats a really good team, but at the same time I do not think you need both those characters as support characters for viper, I think either of them work well by urself… Sentential and amaterasu both provide good unblockable setups for viper. You can use amaterasu’s cold star and then charge a lvl 3 focus attack so it hits them by the end of it. The same with sentential assist (the drones). You can also you drones to extend viper’s combo but you hav eto call the drnes pertty early, like before the 2nd hit of this combo:
j. heavy st light (call sentinel) st. medium st. heavy medium thunder knuckle (drones hit) cr. medium cr. heavy medium thunder knuckle ex. thunderknuckle then seismo then jump cancel and iad to j. medium j. heavy land st. heavy launcher j. medium j. medium j. heavy double jump j. medium j. medium j. heavy j. launcher. light seismo into burst time.
its a simple combo but it does alot of dmg. There are a couple combos with amaterasu that are posted in the combo thread so yea have a look at those. i recently picked up Sentential so I cant tell you too much since its only been a day since I have used him but if I find more I can always post it here. Sorry for making the cmbo difficult to read I cant fin those little sign things or dont know how to use them. when i figue it out ill repost the sentential combo
I just picked up Viper and after about two hours I can do some consistent combos with her. I need help with a team though. My original team was MODOK, Wesker, and Ironman.
I dropped MODOK and Wesker for now and kept Viper and Ironman.
Viper (Seismo)
?
Ironman (Unibeam)
They both help each other extend combos easily (After air combo with Ironman, Viper assist to OTG into Repulsor Spread > Hyper). I’m trying to look for another team member that has a decent assist to either extend combos or help me get in on my opponent. I would keep MODOK but I haven’t found any great synergy with that team. A second beam assist is a little redundant but the Balloon bomb helps with zoning. Any ideas?
I also can’t play Magneto, I just herp derp when trying to do almost any Fly combo/ROM combo.
Seismo is character specific, it’s an exceptional combo tool for certain characters like Spider-man, Captain America, and Dormammu. However as FlyingVe said, for that team it’s not particularly helpful.
Right, they can self-otg so it’s not too much of a big deal. How about her other two assists with that team? Sounds like BK would be the best choice but does her Thunder Knuckle have any other applications?
Burn Kick: Good for mix-ups and unblockable setups. Very easy to setup with Dante. It can also extend some combo’s. Over-all its a pretty average assist.
Thunder Knuckle: Can extend some combo’s (Dante), is a very dirty dead angle. Pretty poor when used on it’s own. Also a pretty average assist, but is easier in it’s application. Is really good in some matchups.
burn kick is a pretty good assist. also try viper, trish, ironman. its a pretty solid team there. or viper/dante is just as good if not better than viper/trish
I got to do some Q&A with Neo G and when I asked which characters Capcom felt were exceptionally strong in MvC3 Vanilla he said Akuma was very strong, much stronger than expected. When I asked him what their thoughts on Viper were he explained (Paraphrasing) “She’s a middle of the pack character but with very strong assists, she has untapped potential.”
You heard it from the battle designer himself, Viper is an assist character and mid tier.
I disagree with him on this as you are all likely aware. >.>
Hey Chrisis I saw that you posted Mr. Naps was running Viper/Trish/Wesker. Do you mind telling me what setups he had since Ive been running the same team? I just recently replaced ironman with wesker because I dont like the ironman changes in Ultimate
Hey guys wanted to start learning prop viper in MVC in time for ultimate, i can use a wide variety of characters allready. Though from her playstyle im thinking hawkeye looks good to pair with her when he is released. I’m pretty decent with Dr doom, so i was thinking of Viper, Doom, xxxx for now (order can be changed of course). Does anyone have any recomendations? i’ll prop switch up doom for hawkeye when the new game comes out and do further testing. Thanks in advance
