Powerstone deserves some representation. Also, give Chun-li a parry, she supposed to rep SF3, so go all the way.
I think certain things about the mechanics of the game need toning down not necassarily the characters. I think Wolvies damage be lowered, Weskers health be lowered, and some of the ridiculous hitboxes fixed. Then buff the bad characters. What makes this game fun for me is how stupid and crazy it is, its a rush from start to finish.
Anyways I want Gambit, Sigma, and Dr. Strange the most.
Yeah, that’s why Im torn, I love how stupid and crazy it is, but it can be too stoopid and to crazy sometimes. I agree the mechanics are in need of the most changes.
As much as I want Sigma, I don’t feel he’d be that different from Zero, Treble on the other hand. If they add Treble and Rush I would totally rep team puppy.
I mostly hate the outrageous hit boxes. Like the wolverine dive kick that goes behind his head and Wesker’s brain dead cr.M that is an anti-air to everything. Just anything that seems wrong or way too convenient. I’d like to see the hit boxes reduced vertically for the most part. Not too many horizontal ones i’m unhappy about. Hulk’s st.H is ridiculous but he needs that poke. Need pokes that need thinking in this game. Similar to Vipers!
Yea my biggest gripe is probably how retardedly easy Wesker is and how its effective. His launcher being -1 is beyond outrageous. Every now and then I lose to these really shitty Wesker players tha all are doing is just mashing his normals, like they will literally be a solid 4 characters (spacing wise) away from you just hitting their normals and then shot another bullet and teleport C and then sit their mashing normals like they were playing the air guitar or some shit. Every once in awhile they will hit you with cr M or anther one of his godlike normals and go into the easiest bbcs OTG into whatever combos in the world.
I love how everyone says “well what makes wesker tough is his mix ups” when his mixups have to be some of the easiest ever. air grabbing someone after a Samurai Edge is not hard, his ACS BCS air loop is not hard, calling an assist and teleporting is not hard.
On top of all this they give this fucker 1.1 million health essentially making him the lowest risk/highest reward character in the game. You literally don’t have to think with this character and still be effective (which is shown by the general online wesker army).
It really is a shame too because Wesker is pretty much one of my favorite video game characters ever and before we knew the MvC3 roster he was the only one I had hoped to get in. But Capcom just made him way too braindead I got bored with him. When I ran my Wesker/Thor/Dormammu team (back when I was REALLY terrible) I was winning basically because I wasn’t better than my opponents at tournies, I was just using thoughtless yet godlike tactics and getting through. Once I dropped him I noticed my overall fighting game skills have dramatically improved.
I still use him from time to time just for shits and gigs… its funny how I am just as good with him now when I was back when I started using him and actually practiced lol
Actually yeah, more like Viper and Iron Man. Good normals, but you gotta think about it, rather than just 2B and forget about it (wesker).
Hulk I just want the graphic to match the hitbox (or vica-versa), it’s hard to gauge it when the box is so much bigger than his damned arm.
Wesker is actually a really complete and advanced character, but a few things should be toned down (health, and gun). Also, IMO, Health is not an excuse to give a character amazing tools. Wesker needs lower health because of how hard it is to catch him in the first place, not because he’s too good. Cacpom is really bad bout this glares at SF4.
I can’t agree with Wesker being an advanced character at all. But yea he isn’t too good, he is just too good for how little you have to think.
Yeah, make his launcher a little less safe (so you have to hitconfirm), tone down the gunshot speed and durability, less stupid (but still good 2B), and lower health. And I’m almost positive Xfactor will get a touch down. Wesker will still be super good, but only if you know what’s up.
If they made those changes I would probably go back to him as you really would have to be on point to get the same results.
Important thing is he’d get to keep his mixups, which is what wesker should be all about. On the whole I want changes to the characters that reward skill better, like remove the invul on berserker slash, still amazing, but now you actually have to set it up, rather than 214A and forget about it.
I can agree. All launchers need to be some type of punishable disadvantage on block and also in my opinion can’t use an assist if the launcher is used on block to make it safe. There is no excuse for that. If you use a launcher you should be committed to continuing a combo up in the air. Kinda like SFxTekken where the launcher or exchange button to the second character is very very unsafe. Wesker’s alternative should be he can make a blockstring safe by teleport and he has 3 different ones. I’m not sure if any of Wesker’s normals are punishable on block but if they are then there you go. I don’t have too many problems with wesker almost anymore online and definitely not offline. I’m so use to his teleports now its a free punish when it’s not used with an assist.
Actually you can’t call assists during a launcher (I’m almost positive), but some like wesker recover so fast it feels like it.
On a viper related note, Haggar assist with Viper is hilarious, siesmo is soooo stupid, it’s awesome.
i think ive decided to go viper/doom/dante im really liking doom right now and i feel like he meshes well with viper, now i cant decide if i should go with plasma beam or hidden missles for his assist
Missiles are awesome, but imo viper benefits more from a good beam assist, especially one like dooms.
Agreed with DontKnow. Beam assist is much better and can contribute to some annoying zoning
nice thanks for all the help guys
The beam is nice and all, but if your picking a character for his beam, then pick IM (in Viper’s case). Besides there are some setups that Chrisis was talking about with Doom (missiles) and Akuma that I’m sure work fine with Doom/Dante.
i like doom alot for viper because i really love his combos and he builds a ton of meter during them to help viper but the beam is a nice plus i guess. are those setups you were talking about in this thread?
I think that if you have a strong horizontal assist already put Doom on missiles, if you don’t have a strong horizontal assist already having plasma beam is never bad for anyone. Viper can do a lot with either though I feel plasma beam benefits her rush down more while if she’s zoning missiles are an enormous pain.
Something else amazing about the Viper/Dante team is how both of their combos work, the primary assets they need to continue comboing are different, Viper primarily worries about hit stun scaling since she converts everything into hits no matter where the enemy is while Dante on the other hand continues combos based on assets and since Viper’s combos don’t require any wall bounces or ground bounces it makes them work incredibly well together. On top of this if you’re Devil trigger DHCing you can choose not to use assists with Viper to prevent assets from being used via volcano and jump S instead of needing beehive ground bounce or Stinger Wall bounce
I started practicing Viper (not sure about which assist yet)/Taskmaster (horizontal arrow)/Doom (molecular shield), and it seems very efficient. The ground control with Seismo and these assist looks very good, but I still have to test it off the lab.
I’ll read the forums because I don’t play a sh*t with C Viper, but any tip for a new player is welcome. XD
