Spies like us: The MvC3 C.Viper Team/Matchup Discussion Thread

I experiment With Viper,Trish and Dormammu the other night. They worked well together. Im thinking about trying Viper,Trish and Zero. Can I get a FeedBack about the Team I put together.

looking at running viper/xx/wesker; waiting to see if some jill sandwich action will work.

right now i’m using chun-li in that spot and she’s good since you can DHC from both of viper’s lvl1 hypers into her kikosho.
i need to put in some time to see else would be nice in the middle.

anyone got tips for getting around tatsu spam or general shoto gayness with viper?

Hi I was thinking of running th same team but I forget which thread in here but someone wrote that having both trish and dormammu wont work well for viper because there are some holes left. i found the answer so um here it is

Demarcus i think posted this. i just wanted to save him some time with having to repost this. also ur second team seems like it would work.

Is Ammy only really a point character or could I run her with Viper (BK)/Doom (Missles)/Ammy (Cold Star)? I realize that none of these characters have high stamina.

Amaterasu works and can fulfill pretty much any role on a team. Of course it comes at the price of having very low Health.
I have tried that exact team a few times, and the lack of Health can be pretty tough. It’s a solid team though, that pretty much has it all and can adapt to any situation, though is somewhat weaker versus heavy rushdown (Viper TK assist could help with that)

You can always take Sentinel on that team instead of Amaterasu or Dr.Doom.

viper doom wesker…

The low health is the one thing that worries me. I’ve actually been using TK assist and I like it a lot. I’ll consider using that instead. I want to avoid Sent if I can, but I know that he is great to have on any team. If I find the low stamina of the others a problem then I’ll probably swap one of them out for him. Thanks for the insight, Qareen. Much appreciated.

You guys think Viper/Magneto make a good combination?

the way I see it, is like they are pretty much the same, but viper eats meter while mags builds meter. So idk, Id like to play them both, but I dont really like having 2 identical chars in a team

any suggestions?

IMO Viper and Magneto are by no way identical.
If you want high low mixups for magneto go ahead with BK assist i mean it’s good but you get touched your entire team will die and while Magneto can be a battery viper lags in DHC from him so…

so i was testing out a big bunch of characters just to find a team that fits good for viper as a point character and i ended up with:

viper(seismo)/tron(gustaff fire)/morrigan(dark harmonizer).

i had the idea of adding morrigan with meter assist to viper for the obvious reason that she needs it, and was searching for a third character to close the gap. tron assist is just a pretty damn good tool for viper in either offense and defense and viper can extend trons combos to big damage with otg seismo assist. morrigan also is a fun character, i like her.

it’s true, the only DHC’s I can even think of are combos into Magnetic Shockwave/Tempest into Burst Time/Emergency Combination in the corner… which is a shame because it’s STUPID easy to DHC into Magneto (especially into his glorious lvl3)

I’d say get a meatier battery, like say, Tron Bonne or Wesker, their combos don’t really need meter to do stupid damage, (or you could be cool like me and use Dr. Doom :D) and you could easily Lunch Rush>whatever, or Rhino Charge>whatever

IMO, the key to being able to DHC into Viper is to either use a Hyper that keeps them relatively close and/or at around a standing height (Lunch Rush,Hoyoukusen,Dancing Flash), or just DHC through corner combos (because if they’re in the corner, where’s their hitbox gonna go?)

so my team is viper(seismo), akuma(tatsu), storm(whirlwind) though im iffy on my 3rd character. I might switch to tron for the flame assist to help deal with my weakness.
tatsu is great for pressure and easy to hit confirm off of and it can cancel some projectiles. what ill usually do is call akuma and quickly after that i do a m thunderknuckle. i found this helps me get in and then get a free high-low mixup if block. if it hits u get a bid damage combo. but all that aside i was wondering how you deal with high priority fighters like zero with his sword and chun li with those freaking hella free kicks lol.

I ran Viper (Thunderknuckle)/Trish (Low Voltage)/Morrigan (Dark Harmonizer). My plan was to sneak in the Morrigan assist while playing keepaway with Seismos or Trish’ Round Trip/Harvest, but IMO Low Voltage is lacking in comparism to other beam assists.

My current team is now Viper (Thunder Knuckle/Magneto (EM Disruptor)/Morrigan (Dark Harmonizer). EM Disruptor provides better coverage than Low Voltage, plus it helps both Viper and Morrigan to get close, plus it’ll help the latter with her Soul Fist knockdown. Keepout with Magneto’s :l: disruptor will perhaps allow me to sneak in Morrigan for her Dark Harmonizer. Enough meter will in turn make it easier for Viper to cover ground while Seismo’ing through EX Seismo or just supply her with enough meter. Morrigan benefits from this as well since she needs the meter for her Astral Vision. Though, the team does lack DHC options…

Right now I’m running Magneto/Sentinel/Dante and while this team has a lot of synergy my Magneto is not up to snuff and I have to put him on the back burner for a bit. So I’m thinking of swapping Magento with Viper but there’s a few things I’m wondering about.

Primarily, I’m concerned about the synergy between Viper and Dante. Jam Session assist is really good and compliments Sentinel very well but I’m not sure if it works really well with Viper that much besides some decent lockdown but the combo potential off of Jam Session is mediocre and the scaling makes it not worth it other then covering Viper if she’s rushing down. The next thing is what assist should I run with this team. BK assist while being an overhead looks slow and I guess I could get the high/low with Sentinel. I hear TK assist is a really solid AAA and Seismo assist OTG’s but I don’t think Sent or Dante really require an OTG assist to extend their combos but Seismo assist does control some form of space as well.

Yeah I’m finding this problem fitting Viper into other teams as well. She seems to have very poor synergy with a lot of the cast. Her DHC options are usually pretty bad/mediocre and I really don’t feel any confidence in any of her assists. They all feel pretty lackluster. Burn kick does feel awfully slow, I feel like Cable is going to jump in an AHVB her shit for being out there so damn long.

Terrible DHC options is Vipers biggest weakness.

As such, you are pretty limited in which characters you can use her with in a team, and 90% of the time you are going to have to use her on point.

Burn kick assist with sentinel is definitely legit though, for unblockables in the corner. Even if they try to react to it, they eat a hyper armored crouching medium. I set this up with round harvest for extra lulz.

Right now I’m using Viper(Burn Kick)/Taskmaster(Horizontal)/Sentinel(charge)

Been working pretty good so far, I usually do better with task on point with viper unblockable setups with burn kick but that’s probably just because I’m much better with Task in general. Any pointers or suggestions for the team?

Also Viper on point with her qcb hyper gets a DHC with Task up shot.

I was have the prob with dhc… so i picked up Hulk he dhc very well… my team in order is viper (sh) hulk (gw) iron man (rb) they all help each other. Viper helps iron mans spacing, viper give hulk stupped combo’s… oh and hulk can otg for iron man in viper is gone, iron man + hulks gw can build a lot of meater for viper

Yeah, I was having a lot of trouble DHCing with her too, but after some experimenting I got it to work out.

Team is Zero/Viper/Iron Man (in that order). You can do any of Zero’s combos leading to OTG his super and DHC to Viper’s Burst Time and it’ll connect. Then you can DHC to Angled Proton Cannon, it’ll usually hit if the hitstun deterioration hasn’t become an issue at that point, although it won’t connect the full beam, it’s better than nothing I suppose.
