For a Viper/doom/strider team, is it better to have missiles or plasma beam?
I like missiles but beam can be used depending on the match-up
Recently -I can’t remember where- I saw the viper/dante corner inescapable/unblockable whiff by the opponent pushblocking jam session assist on incoming (I think it was taskmaster, for what it’s worth), thus allowing Task to stay in the air longer then usual.
Is the inescapable outdated now?
What are Viper’s options in this situation?
Yeah there’s an equal amount of Viper Doom players that run either beam or missiles. Basically the shorter the opposing character is the more preferable it is to have plasma beam. Although quite a few of those short characters have options to slide or duck under plasma beam so it gets iffy.
The best thing to do is just be aware of which characters can duck under laser or have projectiles that duck under laser (like spideys web lob) and just work your gameplan around that. Since I use missiles I basically just try to focus absorb and add more seismos on the screen against shorter characters.
Characters that have to commit to something where they can’t move or has strong whiff recovery to duck under laser (Mag) or characters that just have to eat it period (heavies like Nemesis), letting lasers and seismos rip with missiles is usually good enough. Plus missiles has more unique properties than beam.

As far as her options she could dash out of focus and go for an air grab.
Can anyone confirm if viper/dante unblockable is guaranteed midscreen?
No. Push back on the last jam-session hit screws you. You have better options anyways with SJF BK mixups and strider left/right mixups.
Going back to the Viper/Felicia hardblockable corner setup – it’s gaurenteed damage no matter what as far as I can tell. Here’s the flowchart:
If opponent guards opener and does not pushblock, perform option 1
If opponent guards opener and pushblocks, perform option 2
If opponent gets hit by opener, perform option 1
Option 1
qcb+L~S, j.L+buckler assist, j.H, (land), qcb+L~S, j.L, j.H, H xx L seismo, sjc, air dash forward, j.H xx [qcb+L~S, j.H, j.S] x3, H, S, j.M, j.M, j.H, jc, j.M, j.M, j.H, j.S
Option 2
qcb+L~S, j.L+buckler assist, j.H, (land), qcb+H, qcf+H~S, sj, j.H, jc, j.H, [qcb+L~S, j.H, j.S] x3, H, S, j.M, j.M, j.H, jc, j.M, j.M, j.H, j.S
If the opponent guards and pushblocks, you have enough time to react and H burnkick to still create a hardblockable! Felicia’s assist is fucking *badass! *
In my efforts to create the GREATEST TRIO OF DETECTIVES EVER, I’ve settled on Viper/Wright/Ammy for an alternate team. I really like Ammy so I figured I would run her on anchor. As someone who has never touched Viper before, is there any advice. (Beside the obvious “Learn combos, smoke some theory crack, …, PROFIT!”)
I’ve recently been debating if I want to lose Strider for another character with more control options. Still unsure if this is the path I want to take or not.
Vajra is Viper’s best assist, but Jam Session is a close second, and since I have that I can swap Dante to anchor and put someone else in the middle.
The characters I’m thinking about are:
Zero: VZD is scary, I already know how to play him, and it means I have 2 high damage output characters on my team and zoning with Zero Jam Session is terribly easy.
Magneto: Go back to K-Beast’s team since I actually play a lot of Magneto in casuals because I really enjoy him and play a lot of him in Marvel 2, Jam Session is fantastic for him.
Morrigan: With Dante she’s terribly hard to get in on and I really like her ability to steal meter, which she can hit multiple of with Viper/Dante. Also good for letting Dante hit level 3s and Viper do more EX seismos.
Rocket Raccon: This character is really fun, but he can’t hitconfirm from high in the air. His mix ups are pretty close to unblockable. Assist is super derpy for both characters.
Firebrand: The best mix up character, especially potent with Jam session. No invulnerability and means I need to work hard for damage.
MODOK: I haven’t practiced this character enough to understand him properly, I really enjoy learning more complex things and this seems like it would be potent.
OK, so right now I’m looking at 3 teams.
Viper/Doom/Strider
Viper/Vergil/Strider
Viper/Vergil/Doom
Anyone have any thoughts on the last team?
Not in the same league as the others.
Is there any way Viper/Storm/Sentinel works?
I just put together this team for shits and giggles because I wanna use Viper with Storm so badly for some reason. I was using Akuma instead of Sentinel but tatsu doesn’t do it for Viper like Drones does, although I’m used to play Storm with tatsu.
Replace Sentinel with Dante, instantly good team. >.>
Though something to note about Viper with drones, you can do C + drones xx 236B~S, C xx 236B~S, C xx 236B~S, 44, 236S then dry tag to pretty much any character in the game for a combo.
Everyone keeps telling me I need Strider or Dante on my team if I want to use Viper at all. I’ll use Strider but I dont want to use Vergil or Dante.
You don’t absolute need them to deal with the more grounded based cast…but if you don’t wanna get lamed out by Trish, Spider Man, or anybody with fast flight, you kinda need one of those AAAs on your team. Granted Viper can just shoot shit on the ground all day and FADC forward until they land…but the AAAs cut out a lot of work.
Either that or just have one of the 2 other characters on your team be good at dealing with SJ height shenanigans.
Last one works as long as you’re ok with having an anchor that loses several matchups. Basically just make sure you do well with Viper or Vergil and it’s not bad.
Hey guys, what do you think of Nova (centurion rush) / Viper (seismo or burning kick?) / Ammy (cold star)?
I’ve been in the lab for an hour or so and figured out a couple combos using Viper’s assist (seismo) and medium and light centurion rush in the corner. Viper / Ammy sinergy is obvious and the dog can also help Nova a lot I think.
Any thoughts?
Hey Drew I play the same team as you. how would you fight hawkeye with unibeam and nova
So, when/how am I supposed to be using Jam Session with Viper. I honestly never use it as much as I do Vajra unless the other person is in the corner.
Yeah I have the same question. I’ve been using it recently and i have trouble catching up to someone blocking it and converting the block into a mix up. Usually I’ve just been kinda super jump ADDFing with j.L or s.L when I land and hope that mixes them up.
I guess ideally you’re supposed to fadc after seismo until you push them towards the corner but id like some extra ideas. When I played against K Beast it just seemed like he would wait for it to hit and then was just usually fast enough with his movement to convert into stair kick loop. Which I suck at doing mid screen still.
