well it also depends on if the person knows how to blow up Vajra like Trish with air peekaboo and Zero with lighting. shit like that, if they do then i’d want that extra air control or jam session. oh and its nice to be able to get guaranteed kills on characters without a double jump/air dash cough Vergil 2nd or Anchor cough
this was the post i wanted to see thanks man ha i think ima give it a try and see how it pans out i was thinking in theory this would woke on incoming char
viper on screen
j.h - {light bk feint on hit} dash down call spidey web swing assist activate focus attack - get unblockable
i was thinking that is this work it would shut down the possibility of a character air dashing out of my setup makeing only like hard drive an option to get away
but none the less i think im going to give spidey a try i mean im running mags and doom with viper atm so not like i dont have a team while i mess around and spideys one of my favs on the srceen haha
What does Viper do against swords and Wolverine? I find fighting those matches to be highly infuriating.
Considering playing Viper/Dante/Strider, but it’s the HARDEST team I’ve ever had to play. God @_@ Any tips? Combo extensions, neutral game, zoning, whatnot? I come from maining Mag/Doom/Dante if that helps.
Or, well, Viper/Doom(Beam)/Dante(Jam) sounds more manageable for me, but well. Tips either way XD
Be good at rapid seismos… because they’ll help you become better at rapid volcanos (and you’ll be doing both…).
Be good at timing relaunches… because doing relaunches with Jam Session or Vajra are no simple matter.
Neutral game… well, Strider ends up being the neutral game for both your characters, although if you’re able to convert air combos with Viper, Jam Session is, obviously, a great vertical assist. But if you think the team is hard, I’m going to go ahead and assume you probably can’t do that. So learn when to call Strider and know your options to protect him.
Learn the proper timing behind Jam Session + Focus Attack unblockables, and learn what characters you should and shouldn’t do it against.
Now, if you end up playing against someone who also plays Hiryu (me for example) you’re probably not going to want to call him so much, as many of us know precisely how and when to punish Vajra. Hiryu getting caught ONCE out of Vajra is a dead Strider, and you’ve lost your multi-purpose assist. So with that said, learn your options to protect Strider.
The team has good zoning options, though you’ll still fall to a heavy zoning team. Eye beams + Rapid Seismos + Vajra + Jam Session when Viper is out, Rockets + Vajra when Dante is out, Animals + Satellites + Jam Session when Strider is out. Jam Session also provides decent anti-zoning capabilities.
As far as priorities go… it’s up to you to decide who’s most important. Here’s what I do though
Against a rushdown team, Vajra is my priority assist. Meaning, I’m generally going to go all out to protect Hiryu. The natural counter effect of heavy rushdown is that you tend to always be pressing something, and even when you’re not, you don’t want to end up losing pressure so you might tend to make more mistakes. Vajra is a great full screen hit confirm no matter where you are, and typically while they’re busy pressing buttons Vajra is less likely to get punished. Furthermore, calling Jam Session during heavy rushdown tends to result in unnecessary happy birthdays.
Naturally, against a heavy zoning team, Jam Session is my priority assist. It puts up a projectile-eating wall of sorts and lets me close space or safely mount my own zoning game.
The one thing about this team is that if you’re not comfortable with fast inputs, you can’t play it. This is one of the few teams where you’ll never really “get a break” from speedy inputs. So if you’re having a shitty input day (we all do) you might want to learn a few characters you can rotate in to at least give yourself a break. The ones I’m personally able to rotate into the team are: Taskmaster, Super Skrull, and Doctor Doom. Though given I play multiple teams, I’m much more likely to just change teams unless I’m having one of my obsession-over-Viper days on the same day I have a shitty input day haha.
Anywho, if any of that sounds particularly daunting, well, Doom, Viper, and Dante still make a great team. But the better order is probably Viper/Dante/Doom if you can manage playing Doom on anchor (not to mention you could use missiles and learn to use Jam Session for relaunch). If not, then keep the order you listed.
Does Viper have any synergy with Wolverine?
what are the best assits to help viper
I think viper’s neutral game is hard, and I think i don’t have that great execution, but it’s probably enough to play this team once I get a bit used to it. I just don’t have that much experience with Viper/Strider yet unlike my Mag/Doom/Dante team. I’m a complete noob when it comes to Strider lol. Probably a few hours in training and a bit more match experience will make me more comfortable. lol. But thanks. This post helps me a lot xD But just to clarify… Viper/Dante(jam)/Strider(Vajra) ?
You don’t have to use Jam Session if you don’t want to. You can use any of Dante’s assists honestly. A few folks prefer Weasel Shot. I just used it for my examples because its what I use and have experience with (well… I have experience with Weasel Shot too, just not with Viper, and not in Ultimate).
lol i been running spiderman viper from vanilla and still going strong. I use ironman for vipers mid screen relaunches. Some crazy fuzzys with unibeam and spiderman. You can set up people if they want to tech forward and mash to get out of uwt set up with vipers seismo assist. If you have viper starting do any combo that ending the corner then seismo then let them tech then dhc into utw depending what way they tech pretty dirty. I dont think they can escape from a dhc uwt…you have to use spidersting assist for relaunches in the corner for viper which is a good assist for alpha counters.
tornado claw assist can give viper a relaunch pretty easily since hsd doesn’t affect tornado claw.
call assist, L seismo, H burn kick, relaunch
I’m thinking of trying Viper (Burning Kick), Chris (Gun Fire), Vergil (Rapid Slash), how well would this work? Assuming since Viper is a rush down character, she’d need a beam assist, liking Chris’ assist so far. If she’s gone, Chris can do a bit of keep away with Vergil’s Rapid Slash as a little back up as well.
Also, is it a requirement to be able to do rapid seismo like how it’s required to be able to do soul fist loops with morrigan?
Hey guys, I was thinking of using Viper/Thor, but I’m not sure if itll work because Thor’s Mighty Spark assist doesn’t cause soft knockdown…isn’t that why Marlinpie dropped Magneto and his Disruptor assist?
In a sense yes. It is a reason why he dropped magneto assist. He couldn’t do his relaunch combos any longer. Try using mighty smash. That assist is a dirty wake-up call to mindless rush down.
hmm…ill try that. Now what I need is a projectile assist, because I planned on using doom missiles. Any suggestions? Maybe missiles could double as both a projectile and a lockdown, lol
How does a team of C. Viper (Seismo) / Captain America (Charging Star) / Hawkeye (Greyhound)? I’m trying to look into an anti spam type of team and I think this would be great. Viper already does well at getting in, but she would now have projectile nullify from Cap and assistance from Hawkeye as well. The current point character on this team is Spencer and I don’t think he is quite up to snuff for what I am looking for out of him.
Any suggestions or thoughts?
Viper is already anti-spam and anti-projectile. Just learn proper seismic hammer usage and when they get close Focus into whatever is necessary. If you’re looking for specific assists for Viper that punish neutral game mash tactics you want to go with a projectile that has long active frames. (Ironman unibeam, Doom Plasma beam, Slow projectile assists. For anti-projectile use proper EX moves and advanced viper movement will help deal with 95% of projectile problems.
Everytime I look at a Viper team for synergy I look for neutral game and DHC capabilities.
Viper only get’s stronger with filling in holes of her neutral game. She can practically combo for 1 mil+ with any combinations of assists in the game (restricted to 1 meter usage) so damage is not a problem. You have to become creative to find those combos but it is possible I’ve tried many different assist combinations and came up with very high damaging combos with those rather unpopular assists.
So ask yourself what is charging star good for in her neutral game? its a good easy GTFO me assist. Tech forward + that assist = easy mix-up into combo if its a crossover. It’s a damn good AA for air dash characters like zero/doom and magneto. Can it help add or keep pressure on when I’m in common situations? What are those situations?
Ask the same things with Greyhound assist. Right now I personally see you have two fast and good horizontal assists. Having two of a similar thing with viper is unnecessary. Pick one and find a good Anti-air assist for SJ’ing character. I believe Viper/S. Rogers is an amazing duo. The tech for those two put together are still undercover and that is one of the characters I wish I explored more with Viper on point.
Going through an identity crisis on what character to partner up with Viper. Would like a character that works well her and Dr. Doom (plasma beam). Previously I have tried Dante(jam session) Felicia(rolling buckler) Dormammu(dark hole) Deadpool(kitana-rama) and X23(ankle slice). Strider(vajira) looks pretty good how is Dr Strange with viper? I’m up for learning a new character, I like all the characters that’s listed above just checking to see who benefits viper well
Hypergrav assist can be used in the same way as Strider’s Vajra assist to end combos (You don’t have to do seismo into tk, just seismo). It will do more damage, but you give up the neutral game synergy you get with Viper+Vajra.
I’m still using mags with viper (like i already did in vanilla) and i definitely second what gottnoskill said, you don’t need the disruptor relaunch at all. There are tons of ways to get heavy damage with viper since there are so many ways to incorporate assists into her combos, seismo-relaunch being only one of them. Disruptor is still a damn good assist for getting in, clearing the screen (sent drones assist killer no.1), it closes gaps in vipers offense, set up fuzzy’s, and the list goes on. I would never (!) consider changing mags to hyper grav. It’d be so much wasted potential to not use disruptor and the only thing you gain is lazy combo execution.
