Spark/SparkCE Optical Joystick Sensor for JLF

^ Paewang Revolution / Datel ArcadePro pcb’s are common ground, dude.

Oh woah, really now? This is rather new information for me. I thought that at least the directions were non-common ground based upon how each direction has its own dedicated ground. Thanks for the information gahrling!

Each direction has it’s own signal & GND wire because of the joystick itself, which has unchained microswitches (like a Namco and FS3).

SRK server double post.

You bring up very good points with the Namco and Fighting Stick 3 comparisons. I didn’t even really think about those, but you’re right.

In that case, I’ll definitely be purchasing a Spark in the future for my next project. I’m also hoping that kubebot managed to have any luck in finding a single spring that has the tension of the official spring that came with the Sanwa FLASH 1. That had the best tension for an optical joystick I’ve felt yet and just like kubebot mentioned in his post here, it had no uneven tension like a double spring method.

I want my optical board now now NOW NOW NOW!

before i spend all my money on liquor and service from barely legal Teenage girls trying to pay their tuition.

i think you can make your stick stand out with a sticker on the housing like your godlike controls sticker? i mean thats IF you have to use black housing.

:frowning: i wish i bought your cthulu 2-3 months later than i did cause i would get a spiffy sticker with it

edit: sorry… havent been to this thread in a bit of time went back 1 page and saw that it has to be black. ignore my idiocracy

I should make a yellow Carbon Fiber dustcover for Mr toodles pious Spark

This shit is going to put the Sanwa Flash’s dick in the dirt

^^ i’d buy that. add me to the list. ;D

+1.

+2!!

I’m game. Send me a PM with have you have in mind.

give me a couple of days I’m making 9 or so regular black carbon fiber dust/shaft cover for guys on here. Right now I’m just waiting for some new molding wax I ordered to come in and I can give you a visual

Toodles, you should order a bunch and ship them with the spark. Kind of like how the sanwa flash had the dust washer sticker.

on that dust washer like a mexican on welfare.

  • mexican btw.
    **not on welfare.

I would love to, always wanted to. I can’t get my own molding because the cost is nuts, no answer from Art about plexi cut ones, Ponoko is crazy expensive, so I’m out of ideas. We’ll see what RosserRooster can come up with.

It’s a nice touch, but I care less form than function!

He already nailed that. :karate:

Out of curiosity, would I be able to install a spark into a VSHG? The JLF stock just barely fits into a VSHG. So does the sparks housing take up any more space the the JLF’s stock housing?

It takes up less actually. If you’re looking at the TP-MA piece, ignore the board the switches are soldered to, and look at just the microswitches, minus the metal legs that are soldered to the board.
Dimentions: 52.7mm xx 60mm (not including the prongs of the connectors that stick out)

PCBs and assembly services have been quoted, ordered, and paid. Housing production and molding costs have been paid. I need to order the power cables but they’ll probably arrive before anything else. The machines of industry are working their magic to pump this widget out, so we’re still looking good so far on 6-7 weeks.

I’m restocked on stickers in a big way; the same offer to send stickers to anyone who sends a self-addressed, stamped envelope is still open.
