Southwest 3rd Strike thread: part 2

For Texas Showdown 4, I say REAL TX 5on5 versus whoever decides to come.

What are you scheming? Who’s real Texas?

Round Robin 5on5.

Hmmm, round robin 5 on 5? You want to do this Texas vs. everyone? If that’s the case, we should have a tournament or tournaments to determine who gets to be on the team.

Frankly, I am burnt out from 3rd Strike right now and I don’t see myself playing again any time in the future. More CvS2?!?!?!?!

Cavemen once ruled the earth.

I’ve been burnt out from 3s since Evo. I only play casual when other people are playing, and some practice when regionals comes around. But Round Robin 5on5 still sounds very cool for Texas Showdown 4. Its freakin 4 months away.

BTW, CvS2 is way coolioz.

BTW2, Team Greenbar is way too dominant.

CvS2 is t3h awesome. No need for footsies when Zangief can SPD you from sweeping distance.

Someone should bring back the CvS2 thread.

who the fuck beats chun li? ok i’ll rephrase it, who the fuck beats ricky o’s chun li?

KSK’s alex and Daigo’s Ken. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi everyone.
I’m new to the sf3 scene. I’ve been playing for about 2 months now…and I’m getting pretty good. I just met some guy name Sin and some guy named hoss, and they taught me quite a bit. Anyway, I was just wondering when everyone usually goes to the arcade to play. I hardly ever see good players there. thanks.

I take it you’re in Austin since you’ve met Sin. Most of the people who post in this thread are from houston/elsewhere. Good comp at Einstiens usually happens during the week days between noon and 4, friday and saturday nights after 9:00 are usually good times to go down there as well.

Edit: You can usually recognize me from the other players cause I wear a KaraThrow.com hat.

streak: the new vid that you put on your site(first 5on5). i had seen it already but i didnt know the names of some of the people that were in it. i was wondering if you could list the people for each team in order. thanks a lot.

Can someone tell me how to read the dash charts?

5on5 teams:

Boss(Yang)/Hitotsume(Ken)/Ryo-Chin(Remy/J(Makoto)/KO(Yun)
Joe(Ken)/Ohnuki(Chun-Li)/Match(Gouki)/Tokido(Urien)

I guess there was a 5th player after tokido that didn’t have to play since they already won.

The dash charts are pretty self explantory except for a couple things, the numbers are frame numbers, numbers in parthesis are the frames that you can cancel out of with an attack or throw. For example Makoto can cancel out of the last 19 frames of her dash since the recovery is 21(19).

thanks

call you explain the move chart I can’t read any of that.

GREENBAR Ken is just TOO F’in HOT

After getting pwn3d repeatedly by Austin’s Alex players, I’ve decided to go back to the basics. Some things I’ve noticed about my gameplay:

  1. I jump too much and end up getting anti-aired and parried like nobody’s business. I should stay on the ground more. If Alex-s were meant to fly, God would have given him a belly flop cross up move.

  2. I spend too much time setting up charged partition stomps. I’ve realize now that that doesn’t comprise much of Alex’s offense. It’s nice to have, but it’s like the DDT and you pull it off every once in a while.

  3. I’ve been trying to use cr. forward too much. Cr. strong is better in practically every way, Alex’s footsies suck. Alex cr. forward < Ken cr. forward.

  4. My kara-throws have been off. That’s just sloppy execution. I need to go to Stargate again.

And, I will play Chun Li again. Maybe some Oro. Oro’s SA III is awesome. Somebody should pick him up. And if someone does eventually pick him up, let it be known that Chun Li can super you if she blocks Oro’s close st. strong (the uppercut)!!! Ah, Chun Li.

Bump.

Post up when you’re gonna head to SG, and I’ll come play. I haven’t had any practice against Alex with Ken.

Next time I’ll be at Stargate will most likely be this coming Tuesday. Unless of course, cmutt closes Stargate again just for me.

Since you play green Ken, if you can get 2 other Ken players to play red and white Ken, you can be called Team MexiKen. Top-tier.

Speaking of Mexican, is Urien from Mexico? I thought in 2nd Impact he was from Egypt. Bah, what am I saying. Everything was pretty messed up in 2nd Impact.

Did everyone just wake up and decided to play Ken? Next thing you know, Harvey and Joe will start playing Ken. Or in Harvey’s case, start playing Ken again. I think I’m the only person who wakes up and says, “You know what? I’m gonna play some Oro.”

Joe plays Ken also.
