I naturally agree with this, because at least in GG it’s balanced by numerous factors; but with the inclusion of this new Soul Charge in SCVI it may not be so bad.
Also, there’s so much to discuss, but nobody wants to talk? Not bothered with Discord if that’s where all the convo is though.
well, when it bombs it will take him most likely with him. dont know how good bad the 5th
sold but there must be a reason that not more people wanted to jump on board.
does anyone know what kind of projects/games that okubo guy did lead-worked on in the past, outside of t7?
[] Soul Calibur 6 came together because it was the 20th anniversary of the series without a 3D Weapons based fighting game on the current generation of consoles.
[] The keyword for Soul Calibur 6 is “Reboot.” The game will feature a Story Mode.
[] The story for the game is going back to its more older roots to re-establish the world for both old and new players.
[] Soul Calibur 6’s story goes back to the year 1586 to unveil all the mysteries from the original Soul Calibur.
[] There will be brand new characters making an appearance in the game. They will also play a big role during the Soul Calibur 6 story.
[] Right now Mitsurugi and Sophitia have been revealed to be in the game but other character reveals are coming.
[] “Please look forward to the Guest Character!”
[] The base fundamental system of the game like the horizontal attacks, vertical attacks & 8 way run have not changed.
[] They’re tuning the game’s speed and ease of use to be comfortable for players.
[] The biggest change made to the battle system is the “Reversal Edge” mechanic which will allow you to block almost every incoming high, mid & low attack with the use of a single button input.
[] If you let go of the button during the Reversal Edge sequence, your character will do a specific retaliation like attack.
[] The “Reversal Edge” will help newer players be able to dive in to the deeper mind games and strategy aspects during a battle even against advanced players.
[] They’re focusing on how to make players feel the joy in the weapons based combat gameplay more with the simple single button use. It’s a notable point and they’re still deliberating on how they want it to show in game.
[] Critical Edges make a return in Soul Calibur 6. The input to perform these super moves were difficult in Soul Calibur 5 so there will be a single button activation to use them in Soul Calibur 6.
[] There’s “Critical Edge” as well as “Soul Charge” in Soul Calibur 6. Soul Charge will allow you to power up your attacks at the expense of the meter gauge. There are also moves that can only be done from Soul Charge.
[] For the advanced players, there is the “Lethal Hit” mechanic which are certain moves that under the right circumstances trigger a slow motion effect and send the opponent flying leading into strong combos. Lethal Hits can even break the opponent’s armor off if you manage to land with them.
[] Some of the details you’ll see when you break the opponent’s armor off are Mitsurugi’s lower body showing the loincloth and Sophitia’s hair style changing after you break her hair ornament.
[] Guard Impacts can be used in Soul Calibur 6 without consuming any meter gauge.
[] They want to prepare a “Tutorial Mode” for the game.
[] The Character Creation feature is something appealing that they can’t take away from Soul Calibur series. They can’t say much about it right now but please look out for it.
[] The Famitsu editor was surprised to find out how much external developer help the game was receiving.
[] Soul Calibur 6’s development is currently at 70%.

So they’re literally implementing focus attacks as they were in SFIV? Ugh. Not a fan.
sounds similar. question is if its a guaranteed counter no matter what attack you block that way and if it requires a distinct timing and for the case you miss it if you get a counterhit out of it as the attacker.
Ok pros for me:[list]
[] Guard impacts don’t use meter and just guard seems absent
[] better aesthetic; lighting and zoom on characters looks pretty good
[] Movement looks pretty fast and sharp; need some more details on this later
[] Soul charge system could be interesting. Don’t really know enough about it yet but I’m hoping this is the meter dump for the game.
[*] GI doesn’t use meter! (But they do drain guard gauge? need more info on guard when lifebar glows red)

cons: [list=1]
[] Lethal hits… need more info on specifics of this.
[] Guts scaling /reverse rage is really dumb
[] Giving players comeback meter is dumb
[] Reversal edge is eh. It better have a big drawback so people get blown up if they abuse it.

Single button rage arts worked out fine in Tekken 7 imo, only issue is getting it out by accident (which I’ve seen happen, but you’ve got to screw up bad for that).
I think there’s a point in the trailer where Sophitia activates reversal edge and Mitsurugi just crushes it, so I’d imagine certain moves have properties to blow through it. They also specified high/mid/low, so I’d assume you can grab people out of it.
There’s a specific tag that popped up saying “break attack.” These look like they’ll beat them but they seem to only be available in Soul Charge. I’m assuming there’s going to be other ways to beat it.
I don’t have a problem with getting meter when losing or ultra/rage meter. That’s something so ubiquitous in Japanese media, movies, cartoons. It’s like when you are down but find strength from somewhere you didn’t even know inside you.
Funny enough, I am not a fan of making critical edges a one button attack, but I can live with it.
Even though Zasalamel appeared on SC3, I would like it if he appeared in this game ; after all, he has existed before Sophitia or Mitsurugi were born.
I hope that lethal hit thing replaces that mechanic when randomly you would gain an attack boost.
Watch this sequence 4 minutes in. You can see Mitsu’s life bar glow yellow, and then red. It turns yellow when he does Reversal Edge (I think that’s what it was), and then red when he whiffs a guard impact.
Hasn’t really been talked about much but it’s definitely in there. I’m not really sure what it means yet because there is very little guarding in the video.
One button supers are in T7, but I’m already used to it by now.
Reverse rage and giving out meter to the loser were features introduced in SCV, but I can’t say I’m happy to hear that they’re back again. Especially reverse rage…the only moves that beat the threshold were usually really slow or unsafe. Meh.
