Soul Calibur III Stupidity

Interesting.

Wow, that has to be the dumbest shit ive read in a while.
A “Japanese” thing you say?

Fuckin’ fanboys…

In Japan, SC2 on PS2 sold about 1.5 times more copies than the GCN and sold about 5 times more copies than the XBox. In the US, GCN sold about 60,000 more units than the PS2, while the XBox sold a significantly lesser amount of units than either GCN or PS2.

Putting that all together, if you were to pick one console and wanted to maximize the amount of sales in both US and Japan, which one would you pick?

(All data gathered from here: http://www5e.biglobe.ne.jp/~hokora/english/index.html)

Any system they release it on is going to sell good, they are jsut being lazy making it for one system with no online play, it’s as simple as that.

not lazy. id bet that sony paid them off.

Wait a sec. You play Street Fighter, and you’re complaining about rehashing? That’s rich.

All jokes aside, I don’t see what the big deal is. Sony probably payed them big bucks to get SCIII’s console release exclusively to PS2. Heaven forbid a company that wants to make money, you know? It’s really not that big of a deal.

Regardless of all the Capcom rehash they have never made a true sequel to SF that didn’t have significant changes from the others.

You get to make your own characters.
Raphael has a cape.
Theres a guy with a scythe.
Ivy gets a sexy white outfit.

This game will rock.

Does anyone know why Namco is deciding to bring SC3 to console first then to arcade? To me that doesn’t make any sense.

Also I have to agree with Tsbuame I would like to see a Tekken 5 expansion or some sort of ability where you can actually have your stats on the home version of Tekken 5 like they did in the arcade version of Tekken 5. That’s my only complaint of Tekken 5 on PS2 otherwise it kicks ass

  1. Sony bought the rights. Live with it.
  2. At least it’s not a GC exclusive. That will kill it altogether (but they would’ve sold tons of copies if they’d put Link and Ganondorf on the cover and called it The Legend of Zelda: The Soul Calibur 3 Adventure).
  3. 99% of gamers own a PS2, so it doesn’t really matter.
  4. Lots of Xbox owners don’t play fighters anyways; thet play Halo 2 or sports games instead.
  5. PS2 is the most popular console of now so it will sell.
  6. DOA is the “flagship” Xbox fighter, so SC and Tekken have a shot at the spotlight.

I don’t know what else I can say.

Coming out of hibernation to go off topic and say that you, sir, have a badass avatar.

My apologies for the interruption – going back into hibernation.

I would like to thank you guys for resurrecting this thread for no reason

relax how many times have a game company said a game is exclusive to one system but we see it show up for another like resident evil 4 for ps2, GTA san andreas for xbox, and so on. that said there might be a chance SC3 will come for the box.

Nah, Namco doesn’t flip-flop like Capcom and they don’t do the whole Rockstar thing. Namco is a Sony whore and that’s been well known ever since Sony released the PSX way back in 94.

Is there gonna be Tekken 5-esque ground damage? I always thought it was kinda gay how Ivy could launch you some 25 feet into the air, then snatch you facefirst into the ground, and there’s not even a crack where you impacted.

If they put that in, let’s hope it won’t be a “mocing ground damage” likeT5 was…it was kind of odd to look at, at least for me.

would you rather make more money or lose more money??

I would rather make the best game possible, which in turn would make more money…

I heard something about how the engine the game runs on is what the ps2 engine uses, and also the arcades, and the ps2 ver. will be released first, THEN an arcade ver. , sort of like a beta test before it hits arcades, but i could be wrong.

You are wrong.
