Soul Calibur 3 Preview

Well, just to be fair, back in the day EGM posted up about Sheng Long being in SF2, and then all the japanese magazines printed a word for word translation of the same article. Of course, it turned out to be fake, which meant they were just copying another magazine. To this day, they denied copying the article.

Well, apparently, a lot of other magazines are confirming it. Not just reading it from Gamepro and saying “oh, wow, really? news story.” Someone said that an EGM editor said most of the info is accurate and there will be a 2 page preview in the next EGM. And the IGN cube editor said that he was surprised to read about it, then more surprised when he confirmed it.

Unless Gamespot is in on this as well…
The black guy looks hella dope.

And IGN

:xeye: @ Soul Edgiebur and ring girl (methinks it’s inspired by that particular dude in YYH)

Well, there you go. I guess it is real. And notice how Soul Calibur and Soul Edge seem to be merged. Or having some kind of alien sex.

Souls Embrace?

Anyway hopefully now people can just shut up because more publications are confirming this.

man someone went through a lot of trouble to fake that

Yup This game is gonna be awesome, can’t wait for it

still says PS2 exclusive is dumb as hell

Anyway, the new guys look kinda lame, except for that mofo with the scythe. Here’s hoping create-a-character doesn’t suck (considering they said you control them in a “real-time simulation”…hmm)

You should check out that ign link, it has a “making of” video and actually shows gameplay. Also shows some of the character designs (including what looks like a “holy” siegried, i think), and the create a character mode. One thing that I don’t understand is how he speaks about how good having the guest characters were in the last home versions, how they reached a pinnacle in extra features with that and how it broadened the audience, then he brings it to only ps2.

I told you it was real all along.

Yeah that was weird. “We built this great foundation with special characters on each platform, and we want to build upon that by eliminating it”. Genius.

Hopefully it just hits ps2 first and then goes Live later on.

Yeah, I think that’s what the speculation is (and my heart wishes for. sigh.). The EGM rumor (that I keep going back to) was for it to hit all systems, and Xbox 2. Hmm.

As much as I hate soul calibur I must admit, this game looks real appealing…but then again they’re always like that. I do wanna see how Tira comes out.

Translated info:

The focus of SC3’s story revolves around the “Soul Embrace”, which is a conjointment of Soul Calibur, the holy blade, and the Soul Edge, the evil blade.

There are 3 new stage scenes added in SC3, which are, Ling-Sheng Su Temple -which appeared in Kilik’s background but not in the game, The outskirts of church of Austlineburg, and the Clock tower which doesn’t seem to be related to the game’s story.

Modes:

-Console mode
You can create your original characters with distinctive looks, occupation and weapon style.

-Story mode
Basic equivillant of Arcade mode

-Lost Chronicle mode
Appears to be a mixture of a strategy game and SC2’s Conquest mode.

-Soul Arena mode
VS mode with special attribute options

-World Competition mode
A similar thing from VF4 and T5’s character battle mode.

-VS mode

-Practice mode

-Museum mode
They’re saying something about SC franchise history. A possibility of having SE and SC1 game in SC3 console.

Soul Calibur III to exclusively skewer PS2s

Namco announces that the third installment in its fighting franchise will arrive on US Sony consoles later this year.

Hot on the heels of the release of Tekken 5, Namco Hometek has announced a new installment in its other flagship fighting franchise. As with previous games in the series, Soul Calibur III will feature a cast of colorful characters battling it out with a variety of weapons.

But unlike previous installments, the game will only be available for the PlayStation 2 when it arrives later this year. It will be first time the series will be exclusive to a single console since the first Soul Calibur was released for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999. It also marks the first time that a Soul Calibur game has been released for a console before it was released in arcades. In fact, no arcade version of Soul Calibur III has even been announced as of press time.

“Soul Calibur III expands upon the landmark achievements of the franchise, and is undoubtedly one of the must-have games for PlayStation 2 owners in 2005,” said Yoshi Niki, Namco’s Business Unit Director.

According to Namco, Soul Calibur III will sport several modes of gameplay. Besides the story-driven, single-player Tales of Souls mode and traditional Versus mode, the game will sport a history of the franchise in Museum mode. The game will also sport three new modes: Character Creation mode, which will allow players to build their own character; Chronicles of the Sword, while will allow players to fight as said character in “a real-time simulation,” and Soul Arena Mode, which Namco cryptically described as featuring “unique and original battles.”

Namco also disclosed three new characters–Zasalamel, Tira, and Setsuka–and two returning characters–Samurai warrior Mitsurugi, and female Ninja Taki–will appear in the game. Details on and the first pictures of these characters can be found in GameSpot’s First Look at Soul Calibur III.

You can’t blame anyone for being suspecious, now that there is official confirmation I guess it’s ok. I don’t believe much until a company has confirmed it.
And Zasalamel looks pimpin, I just pray he’s not like Astaroth (with that scythe)

This is for the assclowns again…

Seeing as a female ring user was exactly what I was hoping for in the next SC…

I hope so. :badboy:
