I like that S-Kill + CLACKWERK are behind this game assuring that it’s gonna be the best game of 2012. What is Smash Bros.?
Also, PaRappa! The stages are all pretty clever, and game seems really fun.
Love the fact that they’re giving some love to characters from some older series and I think it’s over all looking really good so far.
I like the clash of different characters from different games. I’ve been a fan of sony playstation since it was first released. it’s always interest to see who would win in a fight between characters from different worlds.
the cast and moves looks really unique. and the chaotic smash bros. style gameplay looks really exciting and dynamic. looking forward to adding this game to my collection and having a new favorite party game.
I’m most looking forward to seeing the items and how they work. From the murder of crows from Bioshock: Infinite to the sonic rift from Modnation Racers, they all sound unique and exciting. Minions are a close second.
What I like most so far is the addition of a new, innovative layer of strategy to an already strategy laden genre. Based around a three level hyper bar with diminishining returns, I believe a very deep strategy game lies beneath the seemingly simple mechanics. I cant wait to see how it all works out!
I have enough siblings to get 4-person games going, so we’ve always enjoyed games where we can all play at the same time.
This is probably one of the reasons we liked the Smash series so much. (Even though two of us tried to play at a competitive level with melee)
So when I heard of Playstation All Stars, I was pleasantly surprised.
Just having a new, (hopefully) great party game would simply be nice for us to play. But having all of the characters being iconic Playstation characters is a treat to look forward to.
From the gameplay videos (Sepcifically, the combo video) of the characters, I think Sly looks really fun to play! And I can’t wait to try him out personally.
It’s odd because he’s one of the few characters I didn’t play the original game for. :x
But maybe I’ll take more interest in him after (possibly) maining him, like some of my characters in MVC.
I’ve already been talking with my siblings about the game, and we mentioned some things such as noticing Jak, but no Rachet. Then how Cole’s lv3 looks like Snake’s Final Smash. And also we saw LBP stages, but no Sackboy!
It shocked us when we saw the Rumored Leak for the characters. Rachet, Raiden (Not snake, but oh well), and Sackboy were all included afterall. (If, the rumor is correct anyway)
So this is rising our anticipation even more for the game.
I wonder how much licensing/royalties and whatnot are. Because lots of these characters aren’t really Playstation first party right? (Unlike most of smashes characters, minus the 3rd party guests)
I wish they would look into their first party a bit, so they can bring in something (Character, or even some epic stages + music) from Shadow of the Colossus!
Lots of people at least have this game as one of PS2’s greatest, so I wonder how Wander is getting overlooked for the game… unless its a potential movelist that is holding him back.
Anyway, I’m probably getting a little off topic here!
Well, if you pick me as one of the Beta Code winners, I’ll just say that there will be 4 people here ready to enjoy it!
As a former competitive melee player, this game is a breath of fresh air for me. It’s a big step in the right direction for the competitive scene due to it actually being made with competitive players in mind. So far the character lineup is great; its really diverse, and I’m looking forward to more reveals (hope the rumors are true).
I’ve been interested in this game since it was first announced and look forward to playing with all the characters (but especially Sly and Jak). I want to see the differences this game has with games that play similarly (Smash, Battle Stadium D.O.N., DreamMix TV, etc.) Hopefully it will be just as fun, so all of my friends can have another game to go crazy with.
So far, I think the cast looks interesting, and I can’t wait to see how deep Sony is willing to dig to find interesting characters from its own games. PaRappa, Sly and Fat Princess were great choices and, truthfully, ones I didn’t fully expect. I was more expecting the game to be God Of War vs Uncharted vs Infamous vs Serious Games, and I was pleasantly wrong.
A lot of people want this to be the Smash-killer, especially with Seth and Clockwork on the payroll. I just want it to be fun. If the game ends up being amazingly competitive and Evo-viable, that’d be awesome and I’ll be first in line to sign up for any tournaments in my area, if not run them myself. When it comes down to it, though, we have a large library of games competing for everyone’s “serious fighter” time as it is, and I don’t necessarily NEED another one. When the night of three-out-of-five and money matches and salty runbacks and such is over, I’d love to have a different disc to put in the PS3 and have some fun, not caring that much what happens and possibly getting 4 people in on something chaotic. Usually, that requires hooking a GameCube or Wii up, and to a CRT at that. If PSAS turns out to be that good time I’m looking for, all I’ll have to do is swap out a disc and pick up a dual-shock.
Moral of the story: I want fun. Promise me fun, and I’ll promise a purchase.
Characters are solid. Love all te choces so far besides toro the cat but thats a japanese thing. I have my own ideas for characters and would love to see kevin butler. I like how its not dmg % and its kills by super moves. The super moves look amazing. Levels are unreal from lbp to rachet and clank. Leaked screens look amazing as well , not sure if they are going to be 100% but it looks awesome. I cant wait to get my hands on this game to havw an all out brawl between the best characters from the playstation family. I play super smash bros original with my buddys a couple times a week and love to smash them in that game. I cant wait for another game where i can domiate in a whole other fashion of style and finesse as some stealthy, brutal, long ranged, up close in your face madness. When i get this game, people online watch out. Its going to be a brawl ! cant wait to compete online and have some of the most fun on the ps3 ie had all year
I’m excited for this game. I’m really interested in the combo system because im an amateur on fighting games like umvc3 or sf, and i think all chars must have simple and balanced combos, i’m looking forward to the items too. Maybe an invincibility item like Aku-Aku from the Crash Bandicoot game series.
I can’t wait to play characters like Crash Bandicoot, Kat from Gravity Rush, GON !! ( Tekken ), and anyone from Final Fantasy series,
I’m looking forward to everything about this game. The very first console i had was the PlayStation and all i played was Parappa the Rapper, Metal Gear Solid, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and Time Crisis. On the Ps2 I not only beat Metal Gear Solid 2 &3 but i beat them on veteran without killing anyone and then went back and collected every dog tag. I beat sly 1 and got every bottle in sly 2 and beat every challenge in sly 3. On the Ps3 I got into Fighters and didn’t play Many single Player Games but following in tradition i beat MGS4 without killing anyone. I Platinumed sly 1 And 3 also. I cant wait to buy This game because Sony has in my opinion has always made the best systems and exclusives and has always been my favorite system.
I’ve grown up with Playstation all my life and a chance to play with some of the iconic characters over the years in a fighter which is being crafted to being a deep and competitive fighter has me very excited. Especially with some of the FGC’s iconic people working on it, I have very high hopes for this game.
I’ve been looking forward to this type of game for a while. It brings together a lot of characters that we all know and love to the PS3 and the PSVita. Ever since I saw the announcement I knew I was going to have to pick this game up. I look forward to seeing a full roster of a variety of well know Playstation characters. I also look forward to seeing this game become just as good as other types of fighting games out there. At E3 they announced there was going to be cross play between both the PS3 and the Vita, so I plan on getting both to be able to fight it out with my friends on both consoles.
So far I love the characters announce, the main one being Toro. I didn’t expect Toro to be in the game in the first place. And after seeing all those videos of his move sets I look forward to be playing this game. I also like how the supers in this game works also, you can attempt to get kills at level 1, but as you get to level 2 and 3 your chances of getting those kills are greater.
So I really look forward to this game and I hope to get invited to the beta to test it out.
Looking forward to ball up on my homies, homies moms, homies sisters and their grandpa. THANK YOU BASED GOD
I’m looking forward to how another “party fighter” will fare in the FGC, just how competitive it can be. So far, I’m loving the character selection, but still holding out hope for Crash Bandicoot.
This looks like a game my wife and I can enjoy together. Right now, she avoids me when I’m playing fighting games. The salt flows freely playing online ranked matches.
I’m looking forward to the game having a balanced roster, where all of the characters are viable for competitive play. That said, I WANNA USE SACKBOY
I really love the game’s stages so far. They have a lot of personality, especially that Ratchet & Clank + God of War stage… Looks sick!!
im looking foward to spending countless hours fighting!!! i love the characters!!
Well, as for what I’m looking forward to seeing, I’m mainly looking at two things:
- How the popularity and demand (i.e. “We want a new game”) of characters that haven’t had a game in a while (like Parappa the Rapper) are affected by this game. In SSBB, Pit’s inclusion in the game was enough to get demand for a new Kid Icarus game to skyrocket. Lo-and-behold, we now have a Kid Icarus game. I’d like to see if any characters of old time’s past can pull through like he did and get another game released against all odds.
- How well the combo system and the “super kills system” work off each other. On paper, the two really seem to almost be at opposite ends of the spectrum. A combo system (at least, in a fighting game) is generally all about trying to get as big a combo as possible in an attempt to get the opponent’s life to zero as quickly as possible and is generally dependent on how well a person can successfully time a series of button combinations; a “super kills system” is basically about trying to unlock your best moves to save until an opportunity to knock your opponent out with a single push of a button arrives. I’m curious to see if combo ability will matter as much in a fighting game where only a finisher can score points, or whether how good a character’s supers are is too important and completely overshadows the combo system.
As for what I love about the game so far, I really like how the game manages to take a concept as absolutely ridiculous-sounding as “a fighting game where the only way to kill someone is by unleashing a OHK super move” and make it seem rather appealing. After all, saying “the only way to kill someone in Street Fighter 4 is with an Ultra Combo” or “only Hyper Combos will damage an opponent in Marvel vs. Capcom” sounds utterly ridiculous (particularly in the case of the MvC series since then it becomes almost solely dependent on how good of a battery character you have). To make a game where the ability to win a game is based on three moves seem at least somewhat competitive is pretty awesome.
Despite what my friends and other people think about this game. I’ve been wanting a Sony Brawler for ages. I’m a big fan of Smash and I always asked my self what if Sony did the same thing. If you are a fan of Smash and such games like Sly Cooper, God of War, Infamous etc this was probably the most wanted game that you would want. When this game was announced I was soo freaking happy that one of my dream games(other being Sega vs Capcom) is finally being made. I always wanted to see Sly and Kratos duke it out or Cole or Drake. Added bounus is that Heihachi is in the game and I love Tekken. It would be also neat that this game gets an competitive side and the FCG gives this game a chance. Man October can’t come soon enough.
Ok on to the questions…
What are you looking forward to most in SPAS: BR?
I’m looking forward to see how far the game play gets in terms of competitive play. Meter managent is really important in this game. In a 1vs1 setting Characters like Parappa, Heihachi and Toro can only kill once with there level 3. So its better to use their lvl 1 and 2 supers. While other characters like Jak and Sly level 1 and 2 are decent but their level 3 are really good. So this game could be very balnced. Also i hope to see some advance techs in this game.
What do you love about the game so far?
Everything!! The characters, the stage combinations, the supers, etc.
