Dear Sony,

I think a lot of people aren’t aware that the main reason Sony did this is probably to stop the PS3 modchip scene. This change is more than likely aimed at those seeking to exploit the PS3 for modding purposes, rather than attacking third party products.
I doubt the modchip scene is going to stay quiet. That cat is out of the bag, and it’ll be only a matter of time before firmware is circumnavigated with ease, just like it is on the Wii now.
Hell, you can now play PSP games on your PS3…
To my knowledge, that hasn’t happened yet. Are we talking the video of that russian guy playing PSP GTA? Some ppl say he is a known for faking stuff so I would take that with a grain of salt.
Took long enough for someone to bring this up.
Funnily enough, I only found out about the PS3 jailbreaking when I was looking for a couple of AT90USB162 boards.
Oh yeah, and a big LOL about the “exploding controllers”. That’s a good one, Sony
FUCK, that’s the converter I have…lame.
I cannot find a single device that does not work on my PS3 so far.
5 sticks (different PCBs), 2 third-party controllers, 3 adapters.
I know that this does not mean that there are no legit claims out there, but… damn talk about blowing shit out of proportion. What is this scare even about again?
By “counterfeit wireless controllers” I’m assuming their going after bootleg Dual Shock 3s and Sixaxes (seen a couple of these floating around IRL) which AFAIK don’t go through the USB but through bluetooth.
EDIT: Nvm, looks like some USB things are hit after all.
Good to hear that the MC Cthulhu still works. Especially since I’m having a custom based on one shipped from the US.
saturn sls pad works fine
It’s well on it’s way:
GamerSuper’s official blog: Second video and more news
More importantly:
PSGroove.com ? Blog Archiv ? Video of nullDC Dreamcast Emulator Running Games on PS3
Power Stones!
So, anyone care to make a list of what exactly works and what does not?
Bulllllshit.
My PS to USB Adaptor better still work. or else that’s one less compatible console… and now all i’ve got are tvc for my sticks.
My soon-to-arrive Saturn Pad better work, i don’t plan on using the saturn on my computer exclusively.
edit: no bullshit, my stuff works fine.
shakes head well it looks like i’m never going to be updating/hooking up my ps3 to PSN now. I depend on my PS2 sticks & converters to play my PS2 fighting titles, don’t wanna risk bricking em. unfortunately my friends are probably going to update it, which means I can’t bring my joysticks over anymore =T
Sorry but just gotta get this off my chest. Instead of trying to pour buckets on a forest fire, Sony should just concentrate on making better systems and providing better services/or securing more titles. Hell, Xbox has been hackable for like years. I still buy every single game. Why? because they have solid support for the developers, online vendors (indie titles for XBLA), good xbox live support, strong exclusive titles and cross marketing efforts for title releases. PS3 in the meanwhile has not even thought about it…they’ve just been trying to stop piracy. like they ever could. All that effort could really be used to help out the developers (PS3 is a B#$*! to develop games on, and sony offers little or no support)
That video is almost certainly fake. He recorded himself playing for a while on a PSP and replaced the startup movie of a legit PS3 game with that video.
That said I can’t wait to play Dreamcast fighters and shmups with a stick finally.
Still no list?
Hmmm… since Madcatz is licensed and their earlier controllers ended up disabled I wonder if it’s only a matter of time until these changes are rolled back.
Also, those mad cheap Komodo controllers still work.
Paewang Revolution PCB seems to work fine on my PHAT 20GB.
Thank God, my toodles boards works fine!
At least my Logitech G25 still work on it for GT5 which is a PC wheel. I don’t use any conveter.
Once there’s more info and less hysteria I’ll get the converter thread updated. Sounds like the Real and HAIS got canned.
Just wanted to drop in that Dual Strike also still works. We’re using the shared USB VID/PID pair of Objective Development for HID devices for the PS3 working mode.
