I did indeed know that it beats some reversal attacks, although I didn’t know any particular setups because I never looked. Just something else to file away in the “Will Anyone Ever Really Use This Awesome Thing” category?
your SS dive setups that i found most useful involved the walkback-DDT. After you grab a shoto out of a dp with that move they play madd shook. It was brilliant and rather easy. Sadly it is gone with the tighter inputs. I guess I should learn another. Which seem most useful in AE?
The one thing I havent been doing lately is the bdnc stuff. Since getting oily is less problmatic, Ive got to bring that out again and get more proficient withit.
Now they callin me a tier whore online, hahgsaa
You can use all the old setups in AE, except ones where you have to walk a certain distance. You can still walk, actually but not as far. Still, if you walk/backdash the right way, you can still do, for example, dry slide/press, backdash, lk dive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dorx5GHBT_o While that’s an air-throw, the back-dash works great to help with dry slide/press lk SS dive. I really ought to make a couple new videos for AE SS dives. I figure more people ought to know about it. Let me know if you want a specific SS dive. I have a couple that I haven’t shared online at this time, e.g. one that I use after EX rocket.
By the way, if it looks like UltraDavid is talking to no one, I erased a couple of posts here. He wasn’t talking to himself. Anyway, I hadn’t really thought much about using BDNC mp against dictator. Apparently it works. Sounds difficult but then again, it’s similar to something else I’ve been practicing. Anyway, this is good stuff.
Challenge accepted.
@Mordie - Just out of curiosity, what did you say?
Ultradavid has put the gauntlet down, now it’s up to everybody to look at whats just been said, and relate it to their own game.
Needs and Still, before you got and flame someone, learn your English
You can kinda tell what I said by his response. I just brought up the SS dive. He was aware you could beat some reversals, but he didn’t know any of the specific setups.
Okay, I was deeply confused for a moment and thought UD was going on a douchey tirade to nobody. It kinda reminded me of an old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn.
Just joking, of course. UD’s Hakan videos are what inspired me to stick with the character, not to mention he’s the best commentator the scene has.
And luckily, he’s on our side.
Honestly, everything you’ve said can come down a lot to studying. Though, in your defense, I for some reason had never thought about backdash canceling normals. Just now, mulling it over it almost sounded like a foreign concept that was incapable of being real. Must be because I’ve never heard anyone mention it before.
Side note: I’m guessing UD was responding to something about Dictator? I feel like we’re playing information jenga here and someone has already had a few turns. :\
Hopefully none of that came off as a slight against David. I merely meant that a lot of what it means to win with Hakan is having your information straight. There was a reason I made a chart of which cross-ups work and don’t work against different characters to study. I guess it helps to be a bit of a studying nerd when playing Hakan.
It might just be more of a case of, Hakan has a lot of advanced techniques that the majority of people really aren’t making the most of, or even using at all, probably because they aren’t even aware that they exist. If the Hakan community, as a whole, starts implementing these techniques into into their games, it’s only going to grow stronger.
And check out the general discussion thread, just posted a video which UD made a long while back focusing on these wake up options.
It’s just funny, because I never considered it an option for some reason. Which, once again, is bizarre seeing as I make good use of his oiled backdash in almost every match I play.
Actually, his initial post was probably in response to the thread “hakan still sucks.” I don’t think he liked that too much. ha ha
Hey, I’ve recently quit street fighter, so I’m out of the funk for changes. lk wasn’t changed? Wasn’t it changed to be much faster in previous builds of ae?
are you saying that in AE after an air throw you can backdash SS lk dive? In the video you are buffering it from walk. This video was done in super. I know you can buffer from walk in AE but it is like only for a split of a split second. Are you saying that in this case the SS works the same way as in super? (im skeptical)
And if you want to spill the beans on those secret SS setups from EX rocket, etc, by all means please do so. hahaa. I need all the tricks I can get.
f.:lk: was reported to be changed to 3 frames instead of 4, but that was proven false. It was also made special cancel-able. If your looking for all the changes, take a look around, I’m sure there are numerous places you can find all the changes.
ahh okay thanks.
Hmm, haven’t heard from Reaper in a while, I wonder if he’s still thinking Hakan sucks
I havn’t tried that one in AE yet. Not sure it can be done, but I think it can. You can walk in AE home version, actually; you can just walk slightly less. For example, I still do oily slide/press, back dash, walk forward mk dive. It’s still the best set dive up, I think.
What I’ve been doing is EX rocket, s.mk, buffer 360 into slight walk forward, hk dive. Not an easy one, but it allows you to feint with s.mk, f.mp instead of s.mk, hk dive, and still be safe. Nice way to bait SRK’s, ultras and back dashes. It also does crazy damage and is from so far away, it’s very surprising to opponents. Again, though, it’s a bit tricky. Still, I’ve been having good success. It’s about the same difficulty as EX rocket, dash forward, 360 into walk back, mk dive. It’s easier to do than the stutter step back dash, I do when unoiled, after slide/press…
As a side note, anyone know the name of the kick follow up? There’s got to be a better name for it than “kick follow up.”
yeah
after messing around with it you are right
I guess I was really sloppy in super, here in AE I have to do the 360 as late as possible to get enough walking distance out of the buffered dive. That alone makes the timing much trickier for me. But it def seems doable and I am getting it, and will slowly get it incorporated into my game.
thanks again.
You are a treasure for this forum
