Any good characters to use in Alpha 2 besides shotos? :looney:
Rose, Gen, Rolento, Zangief
Zangief is beast when mastered and has possibly one of the strongest CC’s in the game.
dont forget mah nigga Adon crouching mp is killer shit… Sakura doesnt count as a shoto right? actually pretty much everyone is good in A2 cept Birdie

She does use Shotokan Karate.
Me personally, I think a Shoto is any chat w/ a QCF projectile, and a DP anti-air.
But yeah, every1 is pretty good besides Birdie and Charlie (seriously, he can’t do anything but charge)

i dont think there is enough there to consider her a shoto clone cept for the fact that she has a fireball and even that is a stretch cause that means everyone else that has a projectile is a shoto clone. her DP is not a anti air its a combo ender and if you’re fancy a horrible reversal move. she differs from them too much IMO to be considered a clone.
on another note you sir are trippin if you think charlie is no good in A2… Charlie is a turtling god amongst mere mortals in A2 and has very few bad matchups in that game, cr. forward is stupid good against practically everything, standing strong is a great AA and his throw range is really good… his CCs aren’t anything to laugh at either
Sakura can’t be a clone cause her pokes are way to unique. Also, her spacing game is centered around sFP and sRH, so shes practically in her own class.
Charlie is the jesus H christ pipeline of oil and he drinks mad milkshakes. This dude has a really good style for the truly patient option enders, his godly anti airs make him top 5 easy. If used exactly patient and correct, he can be a nightmare for most any character without a good counter projectile super.
Dp+lp can be an anti-air, though there are better options.
Emphasis on the technically though.
On Charlie, he may be my main in A3 (along w/ Cammy) but I feel his turtle gets predictable.
I think his pokes are excellent, I just feel he is too limited to those options you both posted.
Oh and Adon, I can’t stand his voice.

That is the thing though, predictable or not, its a base style thats constantly spacing, so even knowing it ahead at certain ranges is a problem since he has sonic blade, s-strong, that one simple thing means that he can always default to it if someone feels they can just rush in.
If anything hes to beefy, hes not limited at all when you slice it. He loses to projectile based supers because of his nature, but characters without them can get fucked hard, and he has the air covered near damn perfect.
I think Guy has the ability to be amazing if you are a very fresh minded player with solid mix’s and mind games. His issue seems to be that he can’t be a autopilot character like shoto’s or even charlie can. Like I said, its all about the freshness here, hes moving art, you can even see certain things he does on reaction alone and punish him for it, so where he seems to be good is threatening someone into waiting to long/fear effect, sort of like Makoto in 3S. I personally think hes a 50/50 slightly leaning out of his area to a possible 45/55 not in his favor. I got a lot of respect for a good guy player.
Sodom is okay, but he needs to advance a very special/certain way, if he does those tackles from far ass away you can counter poke him out of a lot of that stuff without trades and its a real pain, Ryu’s sSK seems to own his sprite for free. I need more experience against him tho, but he seems to have some pretty solid pokes up close.
btw, All this stuff is about A2, I don’t like A3 much and I don’t wanna spend my life learning it.
I know, I just have SFAA, so I can play both.
A3 is shit now, VC’s into infinite is about all the game has left.
The only person I say can give Charlie some difficulty in the air is Rolento.

Wow ya’ll talking about Street Fighter this and that I thought this was an SNK thread??? lol anyway, I play SFA2 myself at times but haven’t really had any comp on it lately. So far I’m feeling Akuma and Sakura but thats about it; I was to get back into using Guy (been using him since the first Alpha) but thats gonna take way too much time I just don’t have right now. SFA series is pretty much the only series I like out of all the SFs by the way
Becuz oddly enough, A2 is making a small revival.
I prefer it over ST (never really was a fan of it)
Since Capcom is doing so much right now, you can’t help but think of them.
Seriously though, SNK really needs to get workin on a MOTW 2, becuz something tells me XII might not compare to the 3 new Capcom fighters comin.
In the end, I believe SNK should stick w/ their current graphics, and current fighting system and just run with it.
Cuz if they try too hard to keep up w/ Capcom, they’ll just ruin their games.
If by mid-late 09 they gave us XII, NGBC 2, and MOTW 2. We’d be satisfied. (or a 2k2 revamp)
