They’re being like that because it’s a job offer, not a PR or press statement. The targe audience is potential hires and you don’t talk to them the same way you talk to the press or players.
Since they’re in the hiring phasethe official announcement has to be pretty far off, yeah.
So how is SNK Playmore planning to fund this game?
*Interesting news today. According to a report by the MSN Sankei, Square Enix’s main office in Tokyo and related personnel were raided on August 5 by the Osaka district police due to a criminal lawsuit filed by SNK Playmore.
The claim alleges that SNK Playmore’s intellectual properties were being infringed by Square Enix’s publishing division in their popular arcade manga “High-score Girl”. Police officials will be looking through confiscated evidence and will be conducting interrogations to the editor as well as the author, Rensuke Oshikiri.
SNK Playmore realized the infringement when anime production for High-score Girl began in summer of 2013 and its production company contacted them for authorization on the use of their characters and music. The company filed suit this May.*
I keep getting this nagging impression that might be Kensou instead of Kyo…
Rugal isn’t mentioned there at all (maybe you meant Krauser?), and the original FF’s tournament was called King of Fighters right from the start - but thanks for the video, I was aware of it, but not of a subtitled version, lots of neat info there.
I’m loyal to the KOF brand but not SNK, so if they can’t take care of this franchise i hope Capcom or a bigger company with a more international vision buys this from them.
I meant they buy the KOF franchise, including related games (FF and AOF) as well as the development team to make it what it is (as a KOF game and not CvS)…
I doubt Capcom will pull a WCW and Bury all the SNK characters just to make their cast look better blatantly.
But aside from Capcom Square may also be a viable candidate for my preference.
What would be the point of buying the KoF property if you’re also just going to buy SNK? Just buy SNK. And if you don’t have a problem with how SNK develops their games, why do you want someone to buy them out? That doesn’t make any sense. If that’s what you’re complaining about then in reality you’re mad at SNK for not having money, which isn’t their fault, and you want SNK to have a PUBLISHER, not someone to buy them out.
KOF is a crossover game of different series anyways, might as well buy SNKP to get all the other franchises that fall under KOF’s title.
It doesn’t try to unite KOF and Garou Densetsu series because the original tournaments in Garou Densetsu were run by Geese. SNK took the title of the tournament and turned it into its own game for a crossover game kind of like Neogeo Battle Coliseum.
The official time line, as I recall, is Last Blade series followed by AOF series then FF/Garou series. Any other game fighting game wise just has too many inconsistencies, such as Samsho, to really fit in a linear time line.
KOF was made as a way for Terry and crew to be around the same age as Ryo and crew. According to the SNK wikia, AOF happened in the 70s while FF/Garou Densetsu happened in the 90s. “[Birthday] March 15, 1971; 22 years old [as of] (Fatal Fury 2)” Terry is in his twenties in the 90s; “[Birthday] December 7; 18 years old [as of] (AOF 2)” Yuri is already in her teens in the 70s as AOF2 occurs.
By official time line standards, Yuri is older than Terry. If they were to meet by Mark of the Wolves time, Yuri would be in her 40s or 50s while Terry would be in his 30s. But that’s why KOF was made so that the general ages of characters don’t matter in a new time line. So Geese didn’t die, King of Fighters was handled by Rugal and then other Tournament Organizers, and among other stuff that happens in KOF only.
3D could be good if the game feels good. GG is in 3D and still feels good like how past iterations were. KOFXIII for me, although it looks nice, feels bad in itself with how largely arc’d hops are with post apex deceleration so they feel bad for empty hop mix ups or how terrible collision boxes are and how SNKP tries to mimic KOF02 hurtboxes.
Although there is some correlation between the game presentation/aesthetic and the game feel based on coding, it’s not as if the aesthetic style is a causation of how a game will feel like.
Tencent could save KOF. Just do the same they do with XDZW, turn into a free, online video game and add 1 or 2 new characters per month. Could be really awesome.
And not release it in the West and have people grind out the game to unlock toolsets for characters that should have been there in the first place. Also, I don’t like F2P models.
