SNK registers "KOF" trademark

Doesn’t Falcoon own the Maximum Impact characters? I would think they would appear on other SNKP related things if the company had ownership.

The Maximum Impact characters have appeared in SNK’s promo pictures, Card Clash series and Days of Memories or something like that, date simulators.

They could always bring Alba and Soiree in and never mention their alien origin(Which means they will need to team up with someone other than Luise).

No, I think they want to keep MI and KOF as separate continuities, not integrate those characters in the main KOF canon because:

  1. They were never really popular
  2. MI fans are going to start asking them to feature much more once they begin
  3. Perhaps they want to “respect” Falcoon’s will and not change their characters or create a new story outside of his original plans

I think the MI characters have a chance but only into a “festival” dream match game.

By the way, really nice fan sprites, man.

As long as they don’t try to cash on KoF 98 and the Orochi saga nostalgia for the umpteenth time, it will be fine. It would be nice for them to try something new, but if not they should really use KoF XI mechanics as the starting point of the new game.

For a dream match game, they will most likely cash in on Orochi Saga nostalgia.

And they should. Also bring back some people from the NESTS one. I mean if KOF 2002 UM has 66 characters, maybe they could just reuse those sprites in KOF 14? Itd be interesting.

Reusing the 96-XI era sprites would not be the wisest of ideas after XIII - not for a proper sequel, at least.

If they were to pull off something along the lines of the DoA5U Core Fighters/League of Legends F2P system, then maybe, but it doesn’t strike me as likely.

Yeah yeah, the Orochi saga is the heart of the KoF series, but they ultimately manage to fit in K’, even if he ends up being the one reference to the NESTS era.

How could 02UM have 66 characters and not put Chizuru is beyond me.

Because Chizuru didn’t appear playable in '99, 2000, 2001 or vanilla 2002.

Nor did Geese and yet, both Normal and EX Geese are in 02UM.

Geese appeared in the console port of 2002.

Not having the Sports USA team is a bigger crime.

Face it, USA Sports team is forever going to be the butt of “almost made it but somehow didn’t get in” jokes in story.

That would be twice in a row, since XIII is already the dream match and nostalgia game for most practical purposes and like SF4, the target audience actually passed on it and kept playing the more than a decade old games. It will be passable if they already had the assets since before, as the KoF 2012 i cards suggest, but it will still be overall disappointing.

Nor did New Faces team, nor Mature/Vice.

Those were in vanilla 2002 for sure.

I mean in the sense of being in 02 in general of being a dream match for the NESTS saga. But yeah, misread it. Characters added to 02 and 02um were mainly NESTS saga appearance characters so it makes sense why Orochi saga only characters didn’t make it in. Then 02 had to come around and randomly place in New Faces and Mature and Vice.

all I know is that I hope there’s some way they can shoehorn Ash in. I know he no longer exists but he’s just too good to let go of… ;w;

It’s coming

"KOF development is underway. Change the history of fighting games with your own hands!

I’m okay with anything as long as Kula’s in it.

^That’s what I said before seeing XIII. The roster size had me searching for unlockables that didn’t exist for 3 days straight.
