No, but a trailer could come out in a couple months and a stage and like 3-6 characters could be done in a couple more months after that. I wouldn’t expect to be able to play it for a long time but I’m okay with that. I want the game to have a long dev cycle, since SNK has pretty much proven that the longer they have with a game the better it will be.
dudes, there was a looot of weird snk related movement. It’s probably just SNK playing it safe, going for various small projects that don’t need big investments and putting more effort in marketing. But I feel just like those guys that want to believe everything is part of big alien/illuminati conspiracy…I want to believe this is part of a bigger plan from SNK hahaha.

Artstyle shouldn’t be an issue, Skullgirls looks like it does due to it being based on Alex’s art style. Of course they’d change the style depending on who’s art they’re working with. What they do bring to the table their ability to be able to outsource and quickly get frames of animation from a large pool of contractual artists. Also, the “Z Engine” which from both the game and Mike’s own demos, seems to be a pretty solid engine for 2D sidescrolling games in general.
I know everyone is excited about a new KOF, and I want one too. However I am much more excited for the possibility of a new Samurai Shodown. A lot of fighting games involve weapons, but they are just for show…extended hitboxes, they have little to do with weapon based fighting. Samsho has disarming the opponent, and the clashes, and a heavy slash with a katana hurts like hell (like it fuckin’ should).
Samsho would be good if it was Samsho II-esque and not that combo-fest that Tenka was. 3D Samsho could work if it weren’t juggle-esque (especially with boring juggles) and had more forms of movement. Samsho II pretty tried to create the experience of a 3D fighting game before Virtua Fighter even came out. So I can see why they made Samsho Sen but the presentation was lacking and the game looked dull.
Is Tenka more of a combo-fest than 4? I remember watching some SBO matches and there wasn’t much combos to see (but the low damage output, that I did see). Did I miss something?
I watched too much Kazama is what happened. But many people picked Tenka Kazama. Also a bunch of people with Tenka Haohmaru. There are characters that are more footsie based but yeah overall Tenka didn’t come out how I would have liked it. I like the new characters aesthetically but oh well. I also like the designs of the new characters in Sen based on their portrait art but yeah Sen was Sen.
well, i sincerely woldn’t mind it going last blade way. Make 2 grooves: power groove with samsho style, and a speed groove with ground chains and much less damange. Withouth the extension of airchains, even the combos of speed groove won’t be too long, and both groups are pleased.
If they want to reintroduce people into Samsho, taking a back to basics approach would be good if they went back to Samsho II mechanics just with an updated game feel and graphics. The anniversary of Samsho I was last year and I don’t think we heard anything from them. Sad
I agree. The game should be at least in 2.5D while having the characters look similar to character models on games like UMvC 3, the BlazBlue series, or like Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-.
