I think people can’t enjoy NGBC because they focus too hard on high level which they will never reach. At a medium level it’s actually very enjoyable.
It’s like the new kids coming in SF4 whining about tiers. SF isn’t about tiers, it’s about matchups. But people are so caught up in their casual/smash bros background that they are too set in their ways to acknowledge it.
XBLA payola, anger at Sony for cockblocking them out of the US PS2, many SNK games have PS1 ports already.
As for NGBC, get rid of Kim/Big, the game does become more fun. Not good though by any stretch- you’d be better off playing a Fatal Fury game. Beats Last Blade and AOF though.
Of all the complaints I’ve heard about NGBC, this is the one that has never made any sense to me.
Anyone who believes the game is slow obviously never played anyone who knows what they are doing. A good Kim or Hotaru can demolish a character in mere seconds.
Either that, or they’ve only played the US version.
The problem with that game wasn’t that it was slow. It was the choppy animation, and horrible character models.Did you see Robert!! What the hell was that!? That chick from GanGan didn’t look anything like her original character sprite at all. Hanzo and Fuma weren’t bad I guess. The game felt rushed, the combo system wasn’t all that great. And the Idea was a cross over between game within the SNK franchise but…isn’t that what KOF is?…oh boy.:shake:
Sony US still being picky about 2D games. Not as bad about it now as they were in the 90’s, but it’s still a small policy.
Like I said, I’m not saying “IT’S ALL SONY’S FAULT!!!”, but a lot of you gotta realize that there’s more to porting games than just “choose system, all done!”
The thing that really made me lose all faith in SNK was the release of Card Fighters DS in America. I had a friend who was a HUGE fan of the NeoGeo portable version, so I was really amped for this game. Then they release it and it has a critical bug that prevents you from completing it 100%. They let you do an exchange for a fixed version, but how many of those do you suppose are out there? Just plain lame.
Oh, and yeah, I just tested SS4 a bunch. It’s much more tame than I remember it being. It’s still pretty splattery outside the character-specific fatalities, though.
While I do agree with you, but you also have to look at the fact that KOFXII got ported to the PS3 with little problems that I am aware of. Sony US cockblocking SNK is due to the fact that SNK has refused to port over their games in HD.
Wow. Just wow. So what if Kisarah didn’t look the same way. It’s good when they redraw sprites. They game plays fine. You don’t need super long combos to have a good game. Also, it woudn’t really make sense to have Ai, Yuki, Mars People, etc in KOF.
That is just plain wrong. The reason why SSVS wasn’t ported till now and propably never will be is because they promised it to the Neo Geo fans. It’s a kind of tribute to them and has absolutely nothing to do with violence.
That’s still a retarded decision. Porting the game will not affect it’s collectability on the MVS and AES, just look at Kizuna Encounter. Besides if they were truly loyal to the Neo Geo community, wouldn’t they have released SS V Special completely uncensored on the AES?
Well, i think it’s understandable that their reputation was more important to them back in the day. You can read on the web why it was censored in the first place (not wikipedia 'cause the reason is not mentioned there).
Why did every samurai showdown (excluding VI) after 2 look so…low-quality on the visuals? Were they so large meg-wise that the resolution had to take a hit?
