Fuck that, they got to have BALLS. How would it give them a bad name just because they released another M-rated game?
For SNK, HNG64 samsho games AND SS5sp are known as “games with bad name” (because of poor HNG64 distribution due to its bulkiness and big price; and because of Nevada-Tan incident and subsequent scandalous redistribution of censored and bugged version of SS5sp). For the time being SNKP tries to stay away from those games as to not catch the bad name virus.
This has nothing to do with quality of the games themselves though.
Which makes no sense now. It’s been 8 years since the Nevada-Tan incident, who cares about a violent Samurai game now? There was no link between the killer and the game. It’s like Battle Royale being permanently shelved because it came out around the time of a similar incident. Then there’s the North American and European audience. Why ignore this large audience because of an incident in Japan? The whole thing makes no sense whatsoever. SS V Special is one of SNKP’s best games, probably the best Samurai Shodown game, and one of the most balanced fighters you could find. It doesn’t have any kind of scene because SNKP has their head up their ass.
If SNKP took the time to craft good netcode and release V Special to XBL/PSN, it would probably do pretty well.
Dude, there’s a fatality where a flamer levitates his enemy off the ground, pulls him apart (off screen) and bathes in his blood.
You can play SS5sp on 2DF/Supercade with decent netcode though.
About fatality, since Suija commands water, he levitates opponent (since people are 80% water based), then extracts bodily fluids (mostly blood) off-screen, which then results in blood rain (a cool and rarely seen in fightings idea, the other case of which I can remember is blood rain code for MK4 Wind arena)
I think Matrimelee would be a good choice as well. Either that of the game that came out after it, since it was only released in Japan. Even Matrimelee never had a console release after the Neo Geo.
I know about Supercade. Good luck trying to get a match going. It’s difficult to even get a 3S match going on Supercade. At least on 2DF I was able to 2-3 people on there like m16x and I think you were on there, I can’t remember (it’s been a while).
Supercade fails in social aspect (or how should I put it), the chance to get a game is alot lower than it was on 2DFighter, I pretty much can get matches with people I talk to via MSN… and the whole concept of gaming service both WITH possibility for people with wrong roms/bios to repeatedly connect to you resulting in failed launches of game, and your game sessions being reset and WITHOUT the chat to tell them how to make the thing work is ridiculous
It’s quite amazing that even a Japanese fighter can top MK’s fatalities.
give me KOF XI on PSN with GGPO and I’ll be happy… I CAN DREAM!!
And yes 2DF >>>>>>>>SC
Another game I think they shouldn’t re-release is SVC Chaos. I think NBGC is a much better crossover game than that.
I know the fatalities in 5 Special are gory, but I was thinking there was just about as much gore on 4. I know they have the generic fatality where you slice them open at point blank range and your character ends up all spattered in blood. I guess I’ll have to refresh my memory on SS4’s fatalities.
It’s a damn shame about 5 Special, though. I was watching some videos on YouTube and it really does look solid.
ngbc is pretty bad imo, but not rotd bad. not even close to it.
and why the fuck isnt snkp releasing any games on psn. i want my ps2 snk collections on psn. or a neo cd emu for the ps tripple which is even more unlikely.
Neogeo Battle Coliseum is pretty cool, at least to me. I was watching tournament videos on YouTube and I think I’ve seen every single character (except maybe Shermie and Chonshu) be played with great effectiveness. My biggest gripe is that they screwed up the input on Hotaru and Moriya. Moriya was my main in Last Blade 2, but I can’t even get half his moves to come out in NGBC. It was also way too technical for my own meager skills. I tried to play Lee, but I hit a wall pretty early on. Still, very cool to see all those characters in one place. They did the tag team thing better than Capcom ever did, too. This game just begs for an upgrade/sequel.
I still think Sony’s cockblocking PSN SNK releases.
Not that SNK can’t be blamed either, but still.
Why would they block PSN stuff? PSN/XBL is perfect for 2D and 2.5D games. I think it could be because PS3 is based on Linux while 360 is based on Windows. Coding games for Linux can be a pain in the ass, and maybe SNKP doesn’t want to pay for it for smaller releases?
Yeah, there’s no reason to block them for PSN.
Another game I’d want to see re-released is last blade 2, but it seems as if the series is forgotten by most people. :\
Am I completely clueless for never having seen Rage of the Dragons until I read this thread? How the hell did I miss this game? It’s ridiculously fun.
It’s a tragedy that this is true.
Though they’re not as forgotten as Numan Athletics and Mach Breakers, talk about two fun arcade games nobody ever remembers.
SS4 had like every fatality ending in vertical split in half, and you couldnt kill the rurus. SS5sp offers more diversity, more violence, and more gameplay value in its fatalities.
NGBC is awesome. People (See: US players) wouldn’t shut the fuck up about OMGBIGKIMSOBROKEWHYUSEANYONEELSE even though you rarely saw a top 8; US or other wise with either of them in their team.
It’s one of the most (if not the only) balanced SNK games out there. Pretty much everyone is viable in tournament play except Ai and Yuki.
I agree with this. Outside of the boss characters (which were banned to begin with in tournaments and online play) the game is fine but because Geese and Zero were so broken they over shadowed how fun the game actually is. Not to mention GSC brokenness is way over exaggerated.
The company has never had a good name.
True dat. They did release Witch Toucher.
