Right now we’re still waiting for KOF2002UM, SSI, and NGBC to be released for XBLA, but I think they should’ve made better choices. First I wanna say that I approve of them releasing KOF2002UM on XBLA.
For Samurai Shodown, I think they should be releasing V Special instead of the first game, because the second game had much better reception than the first, and that it still hasn’t been released on any consoles other than the Neo Geo and more people seem to be wanting that than any other SS game. Also, for those who have both a 360 and a PS2 or Wii, they could play SSI on the SS Anthology instead of having another port of it.
As for NGBC, I heard people say that it sucks because of balancing issues. I think that SNK releasing Rage of the Dragon on XBLA is a much better choice because it has interesting gameplay but is terribly overlooked. Another game they should be releasing is Last Blade 2, because the last time it came out on American consoles was on the Dreamcast.
If there is anything you disagree with my points, please tell me.
SNK is making weird choices in their releases. I mean, they started the Playstation 2 collections off with the Art of Fighting Anthology. Talk about starting off on the wrong foot. They’ve always done weird stuff, though. All you can do is be patient and hope for the best.
Yeah, and they also didn’t need to release Fatal Fury Special and SSII cause you could already get them on the Anthology collections. I really hate having to wait until SNK makes a worthy release for the XBLA because the fighting community has been starving for games that they haven’t played in a very long time. I just wish they could pull their plans on re-releasing SSI and NGBC and release games that we REALLY want.
I liked 98u and am looking forward to 02u release. I agree that choosing SS1 didn’t make much sense but we’ll see what they’ll do with it. For some reasons the new KoF (XII/XIII) don’t feel like KoF. Then again, SF4 doesn’t feel like SF to me so maybe I’m just getting old.
Besides a random entry on Wikipedia saying it was rumored to be coming to XBLA, there has never been anything said about Samsho 1 coming to XBLA (much less anything from SNK’s mouth).
I don’t know about Fatal Fury Special’s reception back in the day or how the general population regards it now, but the rest of the games brought or being brought to XBLA are popular / well regarded (well maybe not NGBC, but its semi-new) OP just seems to be whining cause his personal favorite isn’t up there.
SNK XBLA releases are such a kick in the nuts. They’re bringing awesome games to us, but are essentially offline only with their brokeass netplay. If I could play 98UM with Blazblue (or hell I would even settle for SF4) quality netcode on my 360 I would never leave my house. As it is now, though, I think I messed around with it for 3 days after I bought it and haven’t touched it since.
If Samsho 1 is just a rumor someone said on Wikipedia then that must make alot of sense, because I don’t think SNK is dumb enough to release that game when they could release V Special instead. I can’t really say I have any favorite SNK games, but I know which games that deserve to be re-released. Like I said, NGBC on XBLA may seem like a solid addition after all, but I would also like to see games like ROTD, Samsho V Special, and LB2. I’m real pleased that they actually had the decency to release MOTW on XBLA, cause it deserves to be played by current-gen owners.
Eh, Matrimelee is better than both NGBC and ROTD in my opinion. NGBC has that awesome Metal Slug level, and ROTD is just more fun to play IMO. Honestly though, I just want Garou, SamSho 2, Last Blade 2, and KOF98UM and 2k2UM on PSN. Possibly Matrimelee and ROTD.
