Well, if you recall my messages I really never had an issue with you (and still don’t). I wanted to give you the benefit of a doubt, man, I really don’t have anything against you. I’ve also put your Balrog in my top players list despite the fact that we’ve been “beefing”, so really as I see it there is no problem at all. Truly. Hatchet buried.
All I really wanted to say was don’t let people drag you away from something you enjoy. There are all kinds of losers out there, all you need to do is visit the XBox forum and see some of the UK’ers constantly arguing (no offense to some of the UK’ers who are actually REALLY good guys, they know who they are!). Guys like SMQ are very good players but have zero class and are pathetic people.

It is very easy to debate and come out right when you discuss made up facts. You did not bother checking how many ST players posted effusive rants about HDR the way you have just done about ST. Few people simply complained about HDR and fewer have stated the champion would not be very competitive in ST. The ones who have done it are entitled their opinion. There are loud HDR detractors and there are loud ST detractors, one of them being yourself. Such attitude helps no-one.
Care to name the players who have said he would be mediocre in ST?

What some people fail to understand is HDR and ST are different games even if they are similar. In my case, for example, I can use Cammy in HDR but I doubt I’d be able to use her **at all **in ST. In the case of Snake Eyez I bet he could adapt quite easily. A Street Fighter guru like that can make the leap with ease, though naturally I assume it might be harder since 'Gief in ST is a worse character. He might not win an EVO with ST 'Gief immediately but could have a shot with enough practice.
hah I dont see any post hating on or being critical of snake eyez, (imo he played great and deserves his winnings and accolades)
the discussion is that if you win with gief in hdr it doesnt automatically make you as good as “x” st zangief player because these are different games. It is a fact that gief is better in hdr than st because of his buffs and not having to deal with other characters that were nerfed- this is not a put down of snake eyez but a put down of people making this comparison, he very well may be as good or better than all the japanese gief players but winning a hdr evo doesnt prove that- …and no…he doesnt have to prove this and im not asking him too, he is a GREAT hdr player and its up to him if he wants to show he is great at st also.
how is damdai “salty” if before evo he says that zangief is very powerful in a public podcast and then zangief wins the tourney, and he says it again afterwards? theres many people that here that are saying og sagat is very overpowered in st. are you guys all attacking john choi personally because he’s used him?

my personal opinion is that gief is way good in hdr, “why werent there more zang’s in the top 8?” well there arent many people that main the guy exclusively in the first place. percentage wise the character performed very high, st at evo would have a ton of old sagats entered but then 1 or 2 would get top 8, a worse percentage overall. Im not putting down snake for winning with gief just as i wouldnt put down choi for winning with og gat-
if people like hdr please go ahead and play it all day, on my side of the country its already very dead, its gonna need your help to keep going-

I know what your saying definitely about other people dragging you down but I blame myself quite a bit too. Most of the people I made enemies with was because of lag. I don’t mind losing but anyone that knows me knows that I get absolutely furious if I lose due to a laggy match. I remember a while back I gave it to you about lag, DGV, Caucajun, Snake Eyez, ExposedD and others. I went even as far once when ExposedD beat me due to a laggy ToD I said something over the headset like, “You FN laggy B**** don’t ever play me again” and stormed out. I get into it with lag but I accept lag more now and don’t let it bother me as much. All I know is with better netcode like GGPO I play much better.
Other times it is people provoking me, but I should know better. I am sure great players like DGV gets provoked and he just ignores it. It is fun some of the fighting on Xbox Live but it gets you no where and you can live without it.
Back on topic for me, I am actually better at ST because of how strong Boxer is. I just know the variety of characters Snake Eyez can use and just how technical he is with them all and I see no way an execution barrier could stop him. Even though ST would be more beneficial for me I still call it how I see it. I would rather not be good because I am using an extremely strong character and be good because of my skill. I prefer top tier to avoid bad match ups but I don’t like playing a character that leads to your only good because your character is strong.
Also whats with everyone denying that there was no mention of the Evo win of HDR being not as good because it wasn’t ST. It was strongly hinted at when there was talk of him having to prove himself in ST because HDR meant nothing to this crowd. I really don’t feel like going through this thread and quoting people because of the time it would take.

When I read that, no I don’t think that this is just about “winning in HDR doesn’t make you as good at the ST greats”. Instead, it looks like he’s saying that, and taking it a step further by saying that it’s not hard at all to win 1st place at the biggest HDR tournament in the country with Zangief because it’s so pathetically easy to play him. I’d like to think I’m overreacting, but it’s hard not to construe “fucking retarded”, “baby zone”, and “just stupid” as a simple reminder that Snake Eyes may not perform as well in ST.
So, sure. I agree with you. Just cos you’re good at one game doesn’t mean you’re good at the other. What kickstarted this whole argument though was what damdai said, and unfortunately he didn’t leave it at that.
Now if only the overly negative ST players will crawl back into the hole they came from. You can’t compete in HDR so go back to your loops, imbalanced characters, and nostalgia insert fight fire with fire song.

yeah i agree that he shouldnt have posted that in the guy’s congratulatory thread, i can see where you are coming from but i see his frustration/anger coming more from people making the comparison and not on snake eyez winning, he could have posted anytime but he didnt post until the article was linked and i guess that pushed him over the edge. i also dont see the “he has to win in st to prove anything” that people keep talking about. but its matter of how you take it and he would have to post again to clarify.

I agree, its like he was saying he had an unfair advantage like steroids haha…So yeah i think Damdai is salty cuz im thinking Snake Eyes probably fucked him up when he tried playing HDR again & had no counter to the “new Gief”…So he starts crying how over powered Gief is instead of trying to learn & adapt to Snake Eyes play style…
BTW Cammy & Chun seem to work well against Gief…

There may be a slight note of truth to this, since Damdai has a very good Gief in ST but he chose to take Ken to Evo. I wonder if maybe he’s bummed that he didn’t do what snake eyes did.
The key is though that they are not as severe as in ST. Sirlin did an excellent job making the loops much less effective. This includes Boxer’s loop, Dhalsim’s noogie loop, Ken’s knee bash, and finally none of E Honda or T Hawk’s insane corner game.
The tier lists are more compressed now and even someone low tier (look at his bad match ups) can win Evo. Sirlin even represented Fei Long well in the past. Cammy vs E Honda is also no longer nearly impossible.
Finally nostalgia is there with HDR but is its own new game too.
I really did not want a war with you Rambo but I just don’t get it. Are you simply mad Sirlin took away your noogie loop? Honestly can you really say like others have been saying that HDR is like an intermediate friendly joke game? Let us keep SF1’s inputs then if you want unneeded execution over mind games.
Also he took out most of the randomness of inputting some of the moves which shows the execution was not even perfect in the game. How could you even argue that it is from a design point if you tried? The game of ST is not perfect and not even chess is perfect. Again I am like Moocus I like ST and I like HDR because they are basically the same thing. Remember it is called Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix. Any changes made were heavily consulted with the best players at the time and it solved many of the complaints.
Think over every change Sirlin made and you will understand why HD Remix is better.

no i would never call hdr a joke game, i played it heavily for a year until a friend imported an astro city cab, people from the tri-state area started coming to gatherings and we have all kind of found something going back to st we were missing from hdr. and no its not noogie trap as i never really had the good timing to pull that off well heh. If you prefer hdr more power to you, perhaps there will be a time where sf2 supporters can discuss this more.
