Wow, thanks for the in depth look at Dante, friend. Nice to see more DMC fans as well, lol. Can’t have to many of those. Have you tried out any combo’s with moves we haven’t seem too much of, like Twister/Tempest, Volcano/Beowulf Combo II etc?
Lol. I have a feeling Joc is gonna try to be the greatest Dante in the world. He’s coming for Marn’s neck. Although I like Luvcheez’s style better
I know that Beowulf Combo II gives a ground bounce, but I just stick to the basic ground series into stinger, into launcher, into air combo, into killer bee combo. I believe ground bounces are only once per combo, just like wall bounces. So, even if you did combo into Beowulf combo II, you wouldn’t be able to re-launch and combo into killer bee for another ground bounce/combo. The way he is in the TGS build right now, I’d say he’s definitely top-tier in the right team with the right strategy.
I heard about the “one OTG per combo” rule, which kinda makes sense, but at the same time its kinda lame. Thanks for the imput though. I think ground bounce and OTG should be seperate, that would be soooooo killer.
You… haven’t even seen my style. I thought we were friends, yo. : (
i was comparing Luv to Marn :xeye:
Oh. Yeah… that makes more sense.
And as we all know, Dante is all about style. I’m gonna call my team, team “Keepin’ It Stylish.”
Nice. I’m calling mine “Smokin’ Sick Style.”
I just don’t know who else to use besides Dante, too many good characters. Who do you think will complement Dante well, gameplay wise and style- wise? I was thinking Wesker and Viper or Spiderman and Viper.
Other than the 2 other characters I use, Ammy’s Cold Star assist works really well with Dante’s teleport for cross-up mind games. Dormmamu and Trish are other characters that come to mind, as well as Doom with his “Doom rocks.” If you trying to go for all out offense, A team with wesker and x-23 with either one of them on point would work well with Dante backing them up with his AAA. Or, you can try setting up unblockables with Wesker’s Samurai Edge assist and Dante’s teleport.
Yeah, I was thinking about unblockable setups with Wesker’s Samurai Edge Assist. So dirty, I love it.
Damn. Even though characters are given low health to balance out their strong offensive game, for some reason I never do well with lower health characters. For example I’m significantly better with Ryu than I am with Akuma, despite being able to pull off Akuma’s links 99% of the time. I guess I’m always the guy who makes that one dumb mistake per match and a low health character that’s pretty much 40% life lost.
How low would you say Dante’s is? Is it Karas or Zero (TVC) and Seth (SS4) low? Or is it more like Chun-Li/Viewtiful Joe low. Basically is it abysmally low or just, simply - below average?
Also, Kanta-Kun mentioned that if you Devil Trigger with Dante, and call em’ out, all his assists come out in DT’ed mode. For what I guess the remainder of the battle as long has he’s assist. Do you find this to be an applicable strategy to have him DT and exit out to use his CapCom-like assist? I find DT has been seemingly underused in a lot of the vids I’ve seen? What are you thoughts on this? As in, does it seem underpowered and second-hand compared to his other hyper?
I think a lot of characters will complement Dante well, him being so versatile. Trish works with him well, Doom rocks is a great assist to complement, and I also think that Zero might go well for a full high speed high risk Glass Cannon option.
Either as an assist or on point I think Dante will complement the majority of characters well. He’ll just have to switch up style.
On top of Wesker and X-23 for a full on offensive, I want to try Dante with Storm. With the Ice Storm DHC and Storm also being an extremely versatile character, I’m thinking that Dante and Storm will work very well together, much like Magneto and Storm did in MvC2. Storm’s effectiveness as a battery is diminished, and Dante isn’t as insane on point as MvC2 Mag, but I think the basic idea of it will still work well. Plus Dante has good assists, unlike Mag.
I don’t think we know enough on the subject to say for sure, but if I had to guess I’d say most people would put it as just below average.
I don’t think anyone has experimented with DT enough to be able to tell. I’m theorizing it’ll lead to very interesting DHC combos, with the added effect of giving you DT assists after use. Also, depending on it’s recovery, it may be able to be used as a combo extender, as well as allowing a free combo by DHC’ing into it.
I doubt the DT assists last simply for as long as he’s not on point. It probably runs out, though I’m not sure of the details.
Dante definitely has more health than Chun-li, Ammy, X-23 (judging by her videos,) and maybe Trish. For how good of a rushdown character he is, he has pretty good health. He’ll probably have more health than Viper and Storm, as well. I can’t be certain, but I think his DT increases his defense. I know for a fact it regenerates his red health, albeit slowly.
For anyone who has played this, how well does Dante and Spider-man seem to work together?
I’m guessing with Spidey’s speed and such he and Dante would work out fairly well.
The recovery doesn’t seem quite that fast from what I’ve seen, I haven’t seen anybody able to combo into and out of it. Now, if we get a character with a hyper like Daimao’s dizzying punch from cgoh…
There’s no reason to think this whatsoever, every other “mode” hyper either ends as soon as they tag out (which DT definitely does not) or lasts until they are tagged back in. The question is, whether or not it will affect his assists. Arthur’s does, but I don’t think Wolvie’s does.
That’s the team I was thinking of going for, yeah. I wonder if Web Swing is overhead, or maybe if you can TK the air Web Swing, you could make an unblockable with Wesker’s Samurai Edge assist, use Dante’s Jam Session as cover/OTG into Maximum Spider/ Ultimate Web Throw or something… (Super Theory Fighter)
Also, if Spidey goes on the same team as Wesker/Dante/Viper, I’ll be rocking his “Big Time” stealth suit just to look extra slick.
I’m thinking any good Dante team is going to need a good, keepaway character. Like Storm or Trish.
Dante, Deadpool and Storm/Trish are looking pretty good.
A lot of people have also said that Dante on point with Doom’s rocks assist is a great way to keep corner pressure.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. And pretty much with the same team Dante/Wesker/Spider-man with Spider on point.

My fellow Dante-ers, I’m still trying to guage what version I should get. 360 ver or PS3 ver. I have SF4/SSF4 on 360, and am pleased with the experience. But only recently did I get a PS3, so I’m facing constant “version” dilemmas.
With fighting games, it more has to do with online netcode and community, as opposed to visuals.
I know PSN is free, but let that not be a factor, I already have xbox live for this year 2011 renewed.
So, which version has:
-
Better net-code? I can’t always play in person, to minimize lag is god send. I’m in the L.A area, and I know SoCal is probably the strongest and most active community, both offline and on.
-
More opponents available. Nothing is worse than creating a room…and nobody joining.
-
Skill level of opponents.
Thanks. Also, if there is a better area to ask this. Let me know. I think it’d be quite immature to raise a specific thread just for this. Maybe there is already one created for MvC3?
