i have ideas for an application of this, but it also reminds me… did anyone test to see if the dante devil trigger unscale glitch still works in ultimate?
Ahh I cant say that im familiar with that, what is it?
in vanilla, if you end your devil trigger on the same frame the opponent gets ground or wall bounced, it causes a damage/hsd reset similar to dhc glitch
when i tried it, it didnt work… but i’ll try again.
I have a couple of quick questons.
Does anyone know the frame data of a blocked ReverbxxFireworks or a blocked twister?
I want to have consistent blockstrings using devil trigger, but it seems that the ranges on which I can be outpoked when I activate are really weird.
The other question, would you guys agree that Dante + Beam Assist has the advantage against Dante + any other assist?
Not that I haven’t lost against other players who don’t use beams, but I’ve noticed that regardless of what assist the other person has, the matchup always seems to be in favor of the whoever has the best horizontal cover. The only exception might be Strider, but I still feel its a 50/50 (even though I hate playing against this assist)
I think reverb into fireworks is like -4? I forgot, don’t have the guide on me.
And anything that can cover the ground for dante against another dante wins, one reason mags beam works so well is because it blasts away any other assist that the other dante might have. Only reason vajra works sometimes, imo, is because mags can’t hit him for most of the time he’s out. I like vergil assist just because if you get it out soon enough it’ll sweep the entire area for assists.
Plain old Reverb Shock is -9, Fireworks extension is +2. Twister is -4.
I like using Crystal sometimes. It’s +8, can be comboed off of in some situations, and makes a neat little frame trap when cancelled from s.H or Stinger. And I love Weasel Shot. +14, and assists are available since it counts as a normal.
What are some go to options for Dante at the start of the round? It seems to me that he is especially vulnerable when going up against other point characters with fast normals (e.g Wolverine or Zero). I generally try to establish a bit of distance but this can end up with me at the corner, which obviously puts me at a disadvantage. So my follow up question is, what GTFO me moves does Dante have? If I see an opening I Reverb Shock but it gets beaten out by cr. light mashing, are there better options?
For reference, my team right now is Dante/Viper/Strider. I am putting Dante on point simply to learn how to move with him and his neutral game, but eventually I will be using Viper on point.
At the beginning of any round, I walk back and forth a bit. If the enemy backs up, I go ahead and let them, and walk backward as well. I’m very ok with just zoning out my enemy with air play, vergil assist and my rockets. Forcing my opponent to come to me is my favorite way of playing dante at the beginning of a match because the frustration will lead them to be wreckless and is easy to get them to eat a j.S or hammer.
If they start walking towards me, I go towards them as well and usually just hold towards if they jump right before “start”. Usually they’ll jump right over you and you can build some distance. They usually always jump… Otherwise I’m ok with just taking the tech and block as I come down. They’re usually mashing out assist and I’ll take a bit of chip to get that out of the way and lessen the pressure they have on me.
Dante’s fastest attacks all have 8 frames of startup (s.L, c.L, Reverb Shock) so you’re not going to be winning any mashing battles. Dante doesn’t really have any GTFO moves in the traditional sense; more like ‘stay the fuck back’ moves. Acid Rain, Million Carats, The Hammer, all those have quite the startup period, so you’ll need space in the first place to use them, but they’re very effective once they’re out there. The only real reversal option Dante has is his Lv3, unfortunately.
When I have Dante on point I usually IAD backwards with j.M. Creates a little bit of space for you, and the sword should stop anything coming at you. But if you’re up against somebody who’s really quick (like Wolverine) he can jump up and airgrab you before your move even comes out. Maybe if you use j.H instead it can OS against throw attempts as well… I’m not sure why I never thought about that before lol.
Start of the round nonsense is why I stopped using Dante on point, actually. For my team, Morrigan was the much better choice to start with (faster walk speed, 3 frame Shadow Blade, silly air normals that were also fast), and DHC’ing to Dante was much better than from Dante.
I agree 100%
I also think Dante is much better as a second character rather than starting off on point, but of course I switch in between first and second characters depending on the match-up, some match-ups I feel comfortable starting off with Dante especially if I need to start the round off with zoning or keep away, but most match-ups I feel more comfortable starting off with Hulk. I think it is much better DHC’ing or tagging in Dante after a kill, that way you can throw out a welcome set-up or whatever plan you have afterwords, but that’s only because I feel it’s much easier to keep the momentum with Dante rather then waste all that time just playing his neutral game just to get in anyway.
But that’s just me I’m lazy like that, and with the Hulk as bad as it sounds it’s brain dead easy to get a hit confirm with him. So I can easily just go into a kill combo and quickly DHC or tag in Dante.
And if I lose the momentum it potentially isn’t that much of a big deal, I’ll just play the neutral game as usual (assuming I didn’t get blown up or happy birthdayed in the process lol).
Since people were asking about Dante / Strider tech, I’ve been messing around with this a bit and it seems like if you want to time a really tight cross up teleport vajra, it’s pretty easy to do off a chain into cr.H, since it’s multihit and doesn’t require bold canceling, so you can adjust your timing as needed. You can also do it off of Stinger > Million stab to the same effect.
I also like doing df+HHH stinger > acid rain call strider while they’re blocking acid rain and go for teleport left / right for resets.
You can also do Vajra > ground throw and get a hard knockdown from vajra with enough time to combo off of.
So who is dante’s teammate of choice when it comes to resets? I guessing vajra and maybe lariat might be useful, but who else would help him? Im tryna optimize my dante team and other than a horizontal assist I rly don’t know what goes well with him.
I’ve been messing around with Dante/C.Viper/Magneto. You get an unblockable setup off the grapple if you use her burn kick assist. She also allows for Million Carats in your combos anywhere on the screen just like strider. I’m working on some resets with her and acid rain as well. Personally I don’t think Dante needs an assist specifically for resets since he can setup his own nasty ones by himself or with pretty much any assist. You’re right about Haggar and Strider giving him some of the best ones other than unblockables, though.
Has anyone ever had Stinger pass through another character and switch sides? I did it by complete accident, but I think found a way to do it consistently. Only problem is it’s very situational (at least the way I’m doing it.)
Was wondering if this is something already commonly known, in which case I won’t make a video
This has happened to me sparingly, and only in the corner. If you know how to replicate it i’m pretty fucking interested
I made a post about this on another forum. Interestingly, it only seemed to happen when I attempted to plink teleport after a raw Stinger Lvl. 2 against Frank West as a training dummy. It happened fairly consistently too. Here’s the post:
This was back in early April, and only seems to hold true for Frank. I don’t know what’s going on with his hitbox, but fuck if this wasn’t the funniest thing to see in my lab monster mode.
Someone made a video about back in about January and posted in the video thread. Everyone pretty much brushed it off though.
Ok so I am undecided on a third character to join my Dante and Vergil team. I recently drop Frank West out of the team and now I’m trying to decide between Sentinel, Trish, Strider, Doctor Doom or Magneto or should I just pick Frank back up?
Hell, go for Trish and do DMC team
