I knew this white guy that was obsessed with all things Japan. He studied the language, copied Japanese customs, dyed his hair black and hung up the banzai war flag. He even got plastic surgery done on his eyes to look more ‘oriental’.
In my conversations with him I said ‘all men are created equal’, and I also told him surgery would not change his genes. He didn’t take kindly to that. To me it was just an extreme form of idolization based on his own perceptions of the Japanese, I think he is a sucker.

But sometimes other people from other ethnic backgrounds due to respect other cultures to the point where they wanna be like them. But some shit is just going too far.

I feel that in almost any case when you main exposure to a culture is through media, you only see that shit so you assume that most of it is that way.
For example the nerds who watch all the anime, and believe all Asian women are submissing and all that bs, they think because thats all they see when they see Japanese entertainment which can be a slight reflection of what goes on in their culture.
Just like other people are mainly exposed to blacks through media, so imagine if people only saw movies like Friday and etc when getting their main uhh “view” on blacks. I’m not trying to be an expert, but I do think that some people are just living in some type of odd distorted dimension when it comes to telling whats entertainment from a culture and how they actually are.
