basically everything i say is a fakepost
For one, smash was built around simplistic button inputs, while cvs2 wasn’t, thats why EO mode isn’t allowed right? So how does that have anything to do with smash?
On the other hand, does that mean that you don’t consider CvS2 in EO mode a fighting game?
Both of these are very well thought out and concise posts +rep to both of ya:tup:
Nothing good can come out of this thread though i’m not surprised, considering this is a topic about smash on a site that generally doesn’t take to kindly to anything related to the game.
Oh man, this thread is hilarious. So full of rampant ignorance of closed-minded traditionalists. Its fun to watch them pretend like Smash isn’t a fighter, its like watching people who argue the world is flat (which yes, some people honestly believe).
Although I’m glad to see there is some sort of intelligence in the thread. And btw, I agree with the current SWF userbase having a lower average intelligence than normal, but what do you expect now that Brawl is out? Of course our site would be populated by those kinds of people.
JP: Warpath
Godzilla: Unleashed
Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale
DBZ: Tenkaiichi/Budokai
What do I win? :wgrin:
Again I will say, this is all stemming from the fact that tournament promoters are replacing popular fighting games with Smash…I’m sorry but smash just doesn’t replace GG, even if you hate it.
You know, that Paris Hilton sure is popular. She keeps appearing on television shows, and in movies and magazines. She’s constantly being photographed and interviewed everywhere she goes.
Therefore you must acknowledge and respect her because clearly she is a wonderful celebrity.
That’s a pretty ignorant statement, why does srk look at brawl and say LOL no fireball motions or tension gauge this game is fail? is most of srk really that elitist?
I’m no expert on the dynamics of organizing tourneys but if i’m a tournament director personal bias notwithstanding I’ll be hosting the game that gets the most attendees and i’m pretty sure brawl is the winner in that category, at least here in the U.S. Call me crazy but I think a fighting game is any game where the object is to fight an opponent until someone wins. I don’t think of wrestling or boxing as fighting games though because for as long as we can remember they have been classified as sports and last time I checked 2d fighters weren’t on that list.
So now that we classified brawl as a fighting game albeit a very nontraditional one (for the better IMO) I think I understand why the majority of srk doesn’t think of brawl as a fighting game let alone accept it the way we do st, 3s, gg, or marvel . The game has very different mechanics then a traditional 2d fighter (% bar and knock off stage instead of KO) and it’s popular so I could see why this alone would cause some to instantly hate it cuz sometimes people hate on whats popular or they just hate something that’s different. The game looks like and it is designed to be pleasing to the eye of a 5 year old so the aesthetic doesn’t help it’s credibility on srk. The game’s execution requirement or lack of (at least initially) could cause some to disregard it completely because it doesn’t have the strict execution requirements we are used like rom in marvel, afterall if it doesn’t take hours of practice to master it can’t be a real fighting game right? Finally and most important is the smash scene itself, to put it nicely the majority of the smash scene or at least their rep is that they’re an army of 12 yr old elitist bitches who don’t have any knowledge of “real fighting games” and smash is all they play.
I myself hate most people who play smash just because they’re usually too young to have an open mind about things such as oh i dunno ITEMS:rofl: Anyone who’s checked out the smashboard forums knows the kind of ignorance that breeds there (not to say everyone on there is like that). To put it simply SRK hates the smash scene cuz they think “smashers” are whiny elitist bitches and while I don’t think all or most people who play smash are like that I think the rep “smashers” get is justified and while I accept brawl as a valid fighting game I personally don’t know if I would give a pro brawl player the respect I give a good marvel player:rofl:
But seriously whether u think smash is a fighting game or not, whether u like it or hate it the bottom line is that it’s hella popular and it’s here to stay so we should all just deal with it.
EDIT: It’s nearly 7am and I spent like 15 minutes typing this lol I must be hella bored cuz i’m doing exactly what pablo sais; going out of my way to defend smash wtf is wrong wit me
No one has yet respond with any "facts’ or anything close to the likes about why smash is not a fighter. You don’t need to have a fire ball motion to be a fighter either.
Naurto games on ps2 and game cube have no fire ball motions at all.
All im hearing is “its not a fighter close thread.”
Im done with this thread until someone actually has a decent reason as to why smash is not a fighter period.
I dont know, But godzilla was fun as fuck.
Theres a bunch of post including some of mine explaining why smash is NOT a fighter. But you smash lovers love to skip over those statements.nice try.
btw I like the way not 1 smash junkie can’t state facts why your random ass game is a fighter.
Again this is america,a place where scrubs want things easy to say that have skills.Of course its popular, american gamers are follows,“looks at halo”. Hell you can put a turd vs turd game, if 1 amercian take it seriously, others will follow.
btw I refuse to take a game seriously, just because it’s popular.
No, your posts actually only explain why you personally dislike the game, not why it’s not a fighter. That’s why people are ignoring you.
They don’t have to, because I already did: our current working definition of “fighting game” is so broad and vague that it ends up including a lot of stuff that might not otherwise be there. Smash fits into it for better or worse.
You must have skipped over that statement.
Nice, you still skipping the post explainning why its not a fighter.
Only thing you stated was shit simliar to wiki, which you’re forget non fighting games also falls under the same category.
Just let it have its own genre, Like kiddy brawler or someshit.
I just can’t get over the communities’ absolutely uncompromising stance on items-on brawl. On one hand, you have a completely unique fighting game which offers stage hazards as well as item hazards to deal with when playing against another player. Smash players often boast how their game is so different and unique. But in the same instance, they try to limit the game by banning items and stages all over the place. Do SOME stages and items need banning? Sure, once they have proven themselves to be completely game breaking.
If you have followed the SSBB boards at all, most Smashers will not play with any items on, no matter how ‘un-broken’ they are. This just reminds me of PimpWilly trying to host a side tournament with 3 items turned on (iirc, it was green shell, banana, and freezie? I can’t remember) and almost everyone on Smashboards jumped on him and said they wouldn’t even play in it. Why? Why not keep the unique things about smash and promote it as such instead of trying to emulate any traditional 2d fighter?
I tried smash before at a freinds house, after wasting my precious time trying out that god awful game for a couple of party matches.I came to a conclusion.
smash < pin the tale on the donkey
when are you guys gonna realize smash is where the real pro metamindwavedash games are at
No I didn’t, because it doesn’t fucking exist. Not one of your posts in this thread makes a case as to why Smash Bros. shouldn’t be considered a fighting game. Not one.
No, you’re completely ignoring what I’m telling you. You can’t distinguish between fighting games and non-fighting games unless you define what a fighting game is. There are few criteria that everyone is willing to agree on that separate fighting games from non-fighting games, so our definition of what a fighting game is happens to be broad and vague. And when you have a definition that is broad and vague, then a lot of stuff is going to fit into it–including stuff that might be excluded if the genre were more carefully defined.
I cannot think of a way to explain this anymore clearly. If you continue to not understand, it’s because you’re A. not reading, B. poor at comprehending what you read, or C. retarded. In any case, the problem is yours, not mine.
I have a idea, since you cant find all my post explaining way its not a fighting game.Try this. Before entering the thread try not clicking (last page).Try hitting first page and working your way up.
