Skullgirls Nominated for 8th Slot at EVO

This is basically what the email looks like when you donate, correct? I made another donation larger than this, and I’m just checking I didn’t send it to the wrong person. Note that I cropped out the rest of the email and the credit card number

SRK/EVO doesn’t seem to be doing the donation updates based on milestones.

I have to agree with some people’s opinions that it’s kind of a shame that Smash wasn’t a consideration for the first 7 games or at all in other EVOs when the Smash community is the size that they are and supportive.

I personally like SFxT, but the community for it is really weak. Smash deserves it more. The thing is though that they’re getting a sequel for sure, and we may not get one. I’m hoping an EVO spot created by grassroots donations might convince some publishers that it’s worth taking another look at Skullgirls and making it a franchise.

Yeah funny enough, SRK updated the standings and put it on front page a little after Melee had there Podcast Bomb.

Btw We are not done yet, Apparently Mike Z holding off alot of the Match Donations for later and Melee will try to fight back

Keep donating if you can

What’s the thing they are raffling off?

Good shit guys. I know you’re making us sweat bullets over there.

If you browse the forum and threads on SWF, please don’t take any of the extreme reactions, or negative reactions you see to heart. They’re all nothing more than knee-jerk reactions brought on by surprise and the fear of not getting into EVO.

On another note, as I’ve said before else where, not here.

That tweet made by the SG twitter really did nothing positive towards any type of community cohesion. And I really hate the fact that it was made. Being one of the biggest supports of similar communities having some sort of mutual respect and friendliness towards each other, it sucks seeing DBR, the group hosting Genesis 3, one of the biggest smash tourneys in the world, next to Apex, publicly declare that they were thinking of hosting SG @ Genesis 3 out of respect, but not anymore because of that particular tweet.

It would of been win/win for both imo. More tourneys and more exposure. Plus it would of been on WC and they might of even been bonuses for SG. Who knows.

idk, but it still sucks regardless.

Posters apparently

Some stuff they are gonna auction off as well after Melee has made there move.

You can probably ask Mike or Ravi more on the details on that

Yo, not gunna lie you guys did well last night. And rina-chan too? Lol good shit. I actual have to thank you though. A lot if people have been talking about going to Evo like it was the definitely happening and they weren’t bothering donating. I hated that. You guys got showed them a big community means nothing if we don’t stand up for it. Don’t count us out, we won’t count you out either. Regardless of the outcome GG.

Thanks dude >_>

Guys, remember also that charitable donations are tax deductible. So you’ll get some money back when you file your taxes.

Nice Job THat was a sweet stream

So Many VA who were chill, hell even Kyle Showed up later

Okay, now I’m interested, what tweet?

Im super grateful for everyone that was part of the event to come together like this and do such amazing job. Personally i cant have imagined how this would have turned out if they wouldn`t have been able to show up. I really have to applaund these guys for their efforts. Great picture of the participants that made it all happen. So sexeh. And my eyes are hard glued onto that artbook.

The Tweet “Look out Smash, A real fighting game is coming” or something along those lines

Yeah at first it sounds bad taste, but honestly the folks at Smashboards overreacted to a single tweet (They even did another tweet to emphasize it was not some serious statement). You would think after 10+ years they would be composed when they are indirectly called not “real fighting game” to not set them off. Besides they were apparently pissed as well that we used VA to help us out too and think SG community is " Weeboo virgins" or something along those lines. That thread was depressing for a few pages lol

#Skullgirls for #Evo2k broke $13,000! Look out, Smash Bros - an actual fighting game is coming for you!”

We’ve shown nothing but respect for Skullgirls since this competition started so this was seen as a low blow by a lot of people. I really think that the community is overreacting, but considering the history of Smash getting this same shit from all places, they’ve simply motivated us to rally our troops. Fear the wrath of a butthurt smasher lolol. Regardless, don’t expect any favors from us when you get your asses handed to you.

It has nothing to do with the fact that it was a joke. This has been a friendly competition up until that tweet was made, and while some people overreacted, those with our heads on straight are taking it in stride. We just now understand that the mutual respect isn’t mutual.

“Look out Smash, A real fighting game is coming” to me it just states a challenge. Like “Let the better game win”. I really don`t understand how one could get so upset about it.

Yoooo… I just seen the twitter post. Not gonna lie, that was really a kinda messed up thing to say, even with the backpedal. It’s also gonna be kinda messed up that Genesis is almost gonna do the same thing to Skullgirls community that FGC does to the Smash community; judge them for the position their developers handling of their game. Nintendo made a party game, never intended for what it is, and from what I’ve heard, want nothing to do with the community-building. I’m not saying it’s wrong to be mad, but Genesis wasn’t going to be helping the developers with the Skullgirls presence, it was going to be helping the community. Help that is… or, was going to be greatly appreciated. I won’t even be able to attend any tournaments that aren’t next door for a long while, but it really made me happy that there was finally going to be a big opportunity like that for the people who could participate, even if I never got anything out of it.

I love my game is all. And I was actually looking around the Smash boards (made an account) and you guys have really thorough and plentiful character guides. Thinking… or, was thinking of picking up the game (My main would be Kirby). I don’t know, maybe I just need to wait until this thing is over and come back to it, but this news was pretty upsetting. Both that the SG twitter would say something so underhanded, and that the community would take such a shock having this “rug” pulled from us. Well, no matter what happens, I guess the Smash community will still live and breath, so I guess it’s ?/win at the moment.

I knew I should have never opened this thread again. What I tell you guys? Rollercoaster.

Don’t make an overstatement. Both communities have there trolls, Melee didn’t act any better after they had their podcast donation drive and considering SG community is full of “Virgin Weeboo faggots” that can’t compare to a game that has “hype” and “history” .

Its fine, if this gets you guys motivated and such thats good news, but please don’t pretend you guys on the high horse on the whole “respect” thing as a whole. If your gonna judge our community on a single tweet, there is a whole LOT that can be judged to you guys if you want me to post links of your “respectable” behavior

how much does a buffet cost? >.<
