'Cause skullgirls (or smash for that matter) could conceivably win with only 1 cent donated?
In other words, whether a game wins by coming up with 1k or 50 k doesnt matter… It still wins. However money is a real thing and once spent doesnt come back. This pledge drive could conceivably be done for a lot less than it has been done for…
What do the smash communities or the sg communities stand to gain by getting into a bidding war and spending way more on an object than that object is worth?
Id much rather see that money go towards a better tournament experience for all or for much more increased pot size in tournie which would make for a fever pitch in newer competetion.
The only thing that comes out of this a winner ince a certain sum has been had is breast cancer research.
And unfortunately that sum was reached around about 2-3k into the drive. After that we are paying for something that seriously isnt worth it and could have been much better spent ON US THE PLAYERS.
Thats the reason for the eyeor’ing, smart guy.
I dont want to pay 30k for a 1k tournie, and i dont want my associates to have to either, whether they want to or not… It is better spent elsewhere.

Melee already has a lot of majors planned this year.
Evo could bring a lot of publicity to Skullgirls that a tournament never would.
Both of these games are being put on the spotlight right now and will probably be better considered for Evo next year.
And cancer.
Ok Waiting for the the last possible moment for this donation drive would be not a smart idea. They would do another drive by then and increase the gap even MORE. Even if they overtake up they would still be within range to Snipe range hypothetically if that Were to happen. We needed to close the gap and create some breathing room and thats what happened.
Also apparently Mike Z doing some Auctions too later in response to Melee Surpassing us again. There is still plenty of time For SG and Melee do make things happen. Lets not get pessimistic now

Guys, tonight was a huge victory for us. It’s certainly not the end, but it has gone ridiculously well and everyone involved should be proud.

Yeah if you pretty much stop donating like Melee did when they had the lead you’ll just get passed again.

I also donated all I had this month already, well before yesterday’s drive was announced, so I unfortunately missed out on the whole VA thing. I would have gotten Christina Vee to declare me the best Bella, and then advertise my guide T_T.

They won’t be considered any more highly than this year. Injustice and PSABR were being considered for the final spot. Paying is the only way to get in officially and I don’t see that changing for Skullgirls or Smash.
