Not to discourage anyone, but just to put things in perspective, there apparently is a nice sized Smash tourney happening this weekend and a portion of the venue fees are going to the EVO charity drive. I love SG. I think it deserves more love. But IMO I think just organizing for a well sized side tourney would be energy more wisely spent. I do think everyone should keep trying, but don’t break your back over it or take any risks. The Melee community alone has VERY strong numbers, not to mention the Smash community as a whole. Probably stronger than any other community for a fighting game besides the Capcom games.
And lastly If someone here can “snipe” at the last minute then TRUST me, someone there can too. But I encourage everyone to keep trying though, just don’t want to see anyone here put theirselves on the line and get dissapointed. I’m already seeing some craziness on here after this first donation drive.
Kind-of stupid Smash has to be part of this to get it in… pretty obvious that the interest alone would be enough to warrant it, but I guess the whole “It’s a party game!” “No, it’s not!” argument caused this.
I guess this is actually a good reason to have this poll then. With all the bad blood in the FGC against Melee maybe this poll can show how crazy dedicated and organized their tournament scene is.
