I’d much prefer to watch smash than sfxt.
Also, Skullgirls being at evo has more potential to do good for the community than Smash being there. If you get like 200 people at a Smash tourney, what exactly will it do other than have maybe some of the crowd watch it more than the other big smash tourneys. If Skullgirls gets in and people attend or there is hype then you have a game with an active dev team getting good publicity, which means more incentive for further investment. It’s by no means risk free, but neither is smash considering the rift between the fgc and smash communities, nor sfxt for that matter.
Stop getting into yelling matches about which game is more fightery or watchable and shit.
Personally I think forum discussions are the most fightery and watchable shit.
But yar, I honestly think it’d do more good for SG to be up on the top 8 than Smash. Double digit attendees for Skullgirls has been thrown around a lot, but that’s often because there’s no real incentive to win. This is EVO. If it comes top in the poll there’s a guaranteed $1,000 in the prize pool plus whatever else would be in there before that was added. People who have been on the fence about learning the game will probably finally sit down with it, and top level non-SG players who are looking for an easy win in a tournament with small player pool will start to learn the game.
Look at how many people picked up SFxT properly when it was announced as an EVO game. No one actually wanted to play that, they just did because it was on the EVO list and now it’s got a decent following. (Not trying to start anything against SFxT, but I do feel it owes a lot of its players to that EVO slot last year)
Of course, if SG does win, it does mean people here really need to make an effort to attend EVO this year.

I love skullgirls. I love melee. We should at least respect each others intense desires to get our beloved game into EVO.
I wish you all the best. As much as it pains me, my money is going to Melee.
EDIT: guitalex: its a lot more than just about the money. It’s more about exposure than anything else. We don’t really care about the pot bonus. We just want the spot more than anything. We want to be back into EVO. that’s the highest priority for us.
If you think we’re doing this for the pot bonus, then you have no clue why we’re doing this.

You are right…but I just feel that SkullGirls may die if it loses. I don’t know if it’s just my 18 year old mind going stupid, but I’m literally on the verge of tears. I love this game too much…it’s the last fighting game I have left…I don’t want to die…
I had so much hope, that i could one day be apart of the Evo stage. To finally walk up there with hopes and dreams…and now it’s all going to be crushed…
