You do the exact same combo regardless whether you get the jump in or not. THATS THE WHOLE POINT.
j.HK, c.LK, c.MK, s.HP xx qcf+LP (standard jump starter)
is the same as
c.LK, c.MK, s.HP xx qcf+LP (standard low starter)
is the same as
c.MK, s.HP xx qcf+LP (standard punish starter)
Just use common sense and take out the jumping normal and you get your BnB based on the exact rules from which you are following.
you should assume you can get it off the hitconfirm from a jump in.
BNB = bread and butter. whenever is it in your bread and butter gameaplan to jump around a lot (the position where you are most vulnerable in any FG ever) and fish for the hit?
^^ ha ha ill think about it. will be on a super tight budget for evo. maybe i can convince someone to MM me on something i know i will win at, like crazy taxi or mario kart ds or something.
Just because you don’t start with a jump in doesn’t mean that it’s a BnB either. All that matters is that your combo is hit confirmable. For example, i don’t think it’s reasonable to say that with Cerebella: c.LK, c.MK, j.MP, j.MK is a good BnB starter, yet under the rules you go by it’s perfectly fine. It doesn’t start with a jump in and it starts with a light normal, so why isn’t it a BnB starter? Because it’s unreliable as a safe, hit confirmable string. I do agree that it has to be hit confirmable from a grounded starter, but simply writing off a viable combo because someone put a jump starter in front of it is dumb. Instead of saying “this isn’t a BnB because it starts with a j.HP” it should be “this isn’t a BnB because it isn’t hit confirmable”. Especially since when looking at a combo, if you know that character beyond day 1 of playing them, then you probably know if the combo is hit confirmable or not.
This is why few to players post in this place. You fuckers are just all implants and no real titty. DaRabidDuckie is a mod for this place and I find him quite agreeable, so while the normal rules of SRK would have me unleash a barrage of shit talking, a veritable stack of triceratops all being forcefully fed hay and activia as they shoot diarreah into your simple minds, I will unleash an education on you. It is impossible for me to assume that you’ll understand what anything this master of communications writes to your Street Fighter 4 and Herpes soaked minds. But in the hopes that somehow there are seeds of intelligence in those brains, I shall rain knowledge on your skulls until your heads become pots filled with Perthoflowers; the amazing flowers that will guide your simple minds towards my post so that they may grow strong and happy.
You can disagree all you want with any of my rules. That post was written in haste as a general guideline for all those excited new babies playing with a brand new toy. Seeing as this an exciting new experience for most of you, I took it upon myself to try and do something to prevent some of the older members of the community to run away from this from like a bachelor party with a dead stripper. My apologies, in my haste I didn’t write with the care I do for those great things I sometimes throw into FGD so they can get ignored. I should’ve applied to the front page post. But please understand that in the fervor to stop you salmon from reproducing the stupidity which you so desperately swim upstream to create, I did not go into the full blown explanation of every facet of a BnB and their minute differences from game to game. I left at, and I quote:
You see this means that while we would be working form the simplest thing, these would eventually get more complicated as the game progresses. If you need a better example of this, let us take a look at Zero: He started with random shit into skittles and now he is doing shit with Dante assist and lighting loops. See they start off simple and grow complicated as the game evolves. Even at the later stages, you will still have a BnB for people getting to know the character and one for the people who are already working on him. BnB’s vary between person to person; but by the same token if somebody is getting their feet wet, you are not going to drop in the middle of the Antarctic Ocean.
Please remember that you’re BnB will always be that combo you go to after you get an opening. But because the opening varies it is pointless to include the opener in it since that is just how you got the hit. With Thor I can get an opening from command grab, triangle j.a, cr.a, diagonal mighty strike, j.h and j.s . Because of hit stun deterioration, I could technically come up with various minute differences in the combos to maximize damage; or you could get your one reliable combo that will work from all openings that is very hard for me to drop. Hence that will be the Bread and Butter of the character. Some are hard, others are not. But not every combo is a damn Bread and Butter.
GET. OVER. IT.
My definition is not too limited. It is actually a general guideline for people. Mostly I wanted to stop you guys from continually calling every stupid thing a Bread and Butter when most of the combos that would get posted would be corner combos. It is your communal wankery that has turned that sub-forum into a wasteland. If a combo builds a meter, it is best to still post it without adding the super. You may say “Pertho, why would I do this?” Well my good fellow the reasons are as follow: 1) if it will not kill the character, most of the time it is not worth adding the super in the end and instead go for a combo that nets you favorable position, 2) Some characters benefit from holding back meter since they have supers useful for things other than wasting it on a heavily scaled combo, 3) because this game has DHCs and Alpha Counters. So while you may always end your combo with a super, I might just be happy I have that meter to give myself some chip damage material or punish some of Peacock’s projectiles from across the screen if I’m playing Valentine, keep a 360 stocked as a get out of jail gimmick with Bella or summon cat heads as far as the eye can see.
So as you can see, it is very evident that: 1) I’m da best, 2) Soy el Mejor, 3) I have arcane knowledge from listening to a lot of the old people, 4) You guys are wrong. I will freely admit that I am in no way, shape or form a great player. My game went down drastically because of some nonsense and it’ll probably stay that way. What I do have though is the vast amounts of field notes on this community and a lot of the information gathered with in.
Pertho is awesome. If you see Pertho, say hi for he is approachable. If you have beef with Pertho, don’t; for he is non-violent and carries knives.
Edit: I forgot one important detail regarding jump ins. Not all of them are guaranteed to put you in the same distance. In some games the pushback on certain jumpings is different form each other. The amount of hit stun is different too. This is why it is best not to waste your time about adding the jump in part into a “BnB” since they are kinda odd some time.

O.K while its nice to suddenly speak about the philosophies of what does and does not consist of your typical bnb, this is gonna turn out ridiculous and derail the thread. (seeing as how we are in apparent hot water with SG threads being removed and increased MoD vigilance)
