Skullgirls Gameplay Discussion Thanks For Playing

where’s the new general discussion thread?

Yes it does, which is why I am proud to be a Double main.

If your opponent is constantly mashing 360, and you’re getting hit by it.:

1.He’s bad, man.
2.You’re bad, or you’re having a really off day.

True, but in my defense I didn’t know that you can mash it out while getting jabbed in the face. I sure learned a lesson from that experience.

okay one thing ive discovered that is pretty lame with bella, is if you get a happy birthday and do a combo using diamond dynamo at the end, the point character will randomly pop out before the last hit, giving the opp enough time to tech the groundbounce towards you and then get a hefty punish while bella is still recovering from super.

getting punished for making a heavy punish on an opps bad assist call? that shit is fucked up.

Mike just went for too many unsafe resets, sometimes you need to finish your combos.

No, Nerdjosh does it and it gets him wins hes smart/stupid the ultimate combo.

I’m 100% sure i could play cerebella vs someone and hit them with atleast 2 mash 360 supers.

also he continuously did shit on Bellas wakeup, which got him smacked out fo the air with arms super

We had some new entrants this week, we were missing some from last week though. Come on out folks, don’t be shy. If I can muster up the confidence to get annihilated on stream and drop combos for the public to see, so can you. It’s a ton of fun and you can get some much needed match-up experience out here. Next week, 20+ then 25, then 30, then… the world. This week I learned how to get pressured to hell with assists and how to defend (kind of). Now to learn how to retaliate >< .

I’m considering going once school lets out and I get my Cerebella down. Finals > Skullgirls tourney. Online’s getting boring and I only have one friend locally who plays.

Just hope I don’t go to have Severin be my first match. I can stay at home to be killed all day by Parasoul resets. :stuck_out_tongue:

unfortunately i don’t live by WNF  more people need to play, but people are too hooked on capcom breastmilk and dont like anything thats not made by them

I think it’s just more than that. She has the normals of Wolverine from MvC1 COMBINED with the frame traps of Devo from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

The fact that it is small and it can jump up and hit you and grab you, shows clear similarities to Devo from Jojo’s. Devo had very strong offense and frame traps thanks to the doll (if you watch a video on youtube, you can see this in action). Trapping the opponent between Devo and the doll spelled certain doom for the opponent because Devo could endlessly mix up the opponent while keeping him in a frame trap. Devo’s downfall was where he lacked solid normals. He had to heavily rely on the doll to have access to his good normals because the character himself lacked solid normals. This is where M.Fortune having Wolverine’s normals comes in. She has good normals combined with Devo’s frame traps. I definitely see potential based on the characters that M.Fortune draws her move set and play style from.

I…

I…

God damnit, isn’t that subjective?

I don’t think I’ve hit a mash 360 more than twice in a ft10.

And what do you figure is going to become part of her head games that isn’t already? Last I checked, she didn’t get anything new concerning the head besides nerfs. Her real potential is getting nerfed, because she’s losing her TODs, and her head positioning after noms is looking terrible. The TODs were stupid, sure. But that was what was scary. And the fact that even without loops you could position yourself easily for a mixup after noms was one of the scariest things about her. She’s losing both of those and getting nothing in return. So how is she going to get scarier now that she can’t kill you off one mistake and *won’t *be able to keep you in the corner and use repeated nom mixups at the same time? I’m not following your reasoning.

I don’t know if you’re trying to give us Fortune players some kinda silver lining or what, but let’s keep it real. The character we had the misfortune of picking up at the start is too good, and thus is getting toned down, with her extended combos being removed, and her mixup off her contact grab heavily reduced. We just have to deal with it. And we will. But after this patch she’ll never be as good as she is right now, and that’s just the reality of it.

Then punish with something else. Or find a combo that keeps both characters at the same height so they both get hit evenly. Or don’t use Dynamo if one character is heavier than the other. Or go to training mode and engineer a combo that prevents that from happening if they are different weights.

I think ima pick up Cerebella, she seems fun and easy.

mike said that the web code guy was working on the PC version as the actual game doesnt need to change much (if any) just the way it talks to the web (ie not connecting to/through xbl or psn)
as far as i know mike does all of the character coding by himself. so as soon as he is done with all the bug fixes/patch changes im guessing he will work on the character and from what i have heard the art team already is.
i dont think that the pc version will slow down the release of the dlc chars

NerdJosh is an example of when your education in fighting games reverts back to step one because you become a top player.

When you start playing any game people are going to teach you certain things and more often than not they’ll point out that you will need to block and learn how to block. They’ll also tell you not to go bonkers and just mash out whatever you got because the other guy will catch on and just slap you in the face for it. This is mostly true.

So you apply all that and you beat the people worse than you and really apply it to people who can’t do the same against you. Awesome.

Then you reach a level where people will do whatever it takes to win, and that includes mashing where it was normally looked down upon in the other ‘lower’ levels. This includes random supers where it doesn’t make sense. This includes doing shit like wake up overhead. You sprinkle that alllllllll over some smart play and you’ve got a top player.

I’ve played Josh in like every damn game ever and that’s him to a T. Absolutely brilliant most of the time and then 'WTF where the fuck did that come from and HOLY FUCK I got hit by it three times already.

I totally agree with this 110 percent as to be honest it does get a bit old catching you opp in the nom nom nom loop as their was practically no way of escaping it. TOD irk me, but thats just something I as an individual will have to deal with as they are real and you as me and if you are not careful you could lose a tournament or an big event due to ignorance. Worst your gonna sit their and draw a huge question mark in your mind and wonder how the hell did that happen? I should know as I usually fight Cooperdabbit on occasion on PSN and he caught me in that a few times, though at the time I was just learning Skullgirls and very inexperienced and I didn’t know how to fight/handle Fortune as I mostly see Bella, Fillia, Peacock/Double and the occasional Painwheel. Though as she is after the patch she will still be a contender whether people like it or not, its just that now people will actually get a chance to play. Rather than wait for about 45 seconds or more for your opp to finish TOD you with the nom nom nom loops.

Strange, usually when I happy birthday someone with Diamond Dynamo the both usually stay in the loop, I’ll have to check that out after going other some Double Combos I’d like to work on. Trying to find ways to maximize her damage without heavily relying on the barrel loop and work in more resets than I have ever done before.

I said that was DUMB. TOD from full screen or literally anywhere you damn well felt like it wasn’t scary it was just dumb. She’s still a damn good character, they just took the dumb away from her. ‘Nothing’ in return implies that you’ve already exhausted everything she had, and considering she was more of a one trick pony then Carl Clover in BBCT, well then you people haven’t found squat.
