Logan has more vitality partly because Sentinel does more damage. It’s not funny, it’s called balance smart guy.
Try using Wolverine for an assist or to DHC into, not nearly as versatile as Sent.
A 9 foot killer robot should get bodied by Wolverine and should have less health than him. He should have especially never had more health than hulk or Thor, comic book logic and for game balance reasons
What does comic book logic have to do with game balance …? Sentinel is playable but certainly not top five since he’s been largely figured out in terms of depth compared to other characters.
I said in terms of comic book AND game balance reasons, so no matter how you look at it Sentinel shouldn’t have the highest health in the game.
Figuring out a character shouldn’t factor into tier rank… look at Vanilla Ryu, he was top 5 and nobody is more figured out than him. Thats just part of knowing your match-ups
DrewGrimey I think you should be quiet before you start a riot. (Hey that rhymed! Awesome)
And game balancing wise, I think he should of got his health nerfed, but only to the same level as Tron’s health. He is big and gets molested by Arthur. He didn’t need to get buttfucked by Capcom
lol the damage nerf comment was just me trolling:badboy: But I think its funny hearing all these people say Sentinel is garbage just because of a 395,000 health adjustment. his health was way too much for his damage anyways.
So my final words of advise to these scrubs is the same words they said to everyone that was crying about sent being to powerfull in the first place “learn to block and know your match ups”
Because he was the character that I was always seeing when watching some MvC2, and therefore I’ve been curious. And I’ve always liked the whole “big chars” thing (I play Potemkin in GG).
Who said Sent was garbage? Maybe you should play some good people instead of playing online, because Sent gets destroyed by instant overheads that 90% of the cast probably has on him. I think Keitts(or skisonic) summed it up the best. He’s a glass cannon, and glass cannon type characters have multiple ways of opening a character up(I play Seth and he has the lowest health but has multiple options on offense and defense), which Sent can’t do really. He has a command grab, but that shit is slow and you can get hit out of it. His jump moves are pretty slow, his ground normals are slow and punishable, you claim his supers are “some of the safest”, but that is bullshit. Also, care to tell us what these tools are that are so good? Spit like I said is mediocre at best, command grab is booty, drones are only good when opponent is coming in. The best tool Sent has is his fly imo. Before you claim to be so good, try going to a tourney and win instead of basing your skill from online.
Maybe sent alone isn’t so great, but with good assists like a beam or an invincible assist. He is beast.
Spit/drones + beam assist and you can zone for days. Or you can call beam and dash in. Or low/high hitting assists you can do unblockables. People like to just block vs. Sent for fear of invincibility, which makes unblockables easy. Except if people start learning to jump and block
You guys are funny. You jump on me just because I am of the opinion that he needed some type of balancing. An opinion that Capcom obviously shared. And because of that opinion, I’m a “scrub” and an “idiot.” I guess the makers of the game that you love so much are also scrubs and idiots.
You guys are blind, in denial and are still having a problem coping with the nerf apparently. If you’re as good as everyone claims they are on this anonymous internet forum, you will learn to deal. Quit crying about it and claiming that everyone that disagrees with you is a scrub. It just makes you and your community look worse.
People are jumping on you because you’re coming across like a prick and still haven’t done a very good job of explaining why you think he was overpowered.
I have explained why I thought he needed balancing and I’m not going to continue to harp on it because it comes across as “crying.” Nothing I can say to you guys is going to convince you that he needed balancing. I’ve simply stated that it was an opinion of mine from observation and experience. I also thought it was a good move to help promote diversity by discouraging overuse of the character by making lesser skilled players drop him because their training wheels got taken off.
And maybe this got missed by all trying to villianize me, but while I said I thought he needed balancing, I also said that they may have gone too far with the health nerf and I’m not sure that was the correct way to fix him. But then again, I’m a scrub and an idiot so that opinion is probably wrong too.
I think you’re missing that outside of a vocal minority, the problem people are having with the nerf isn’t that Sentinel now has less health. The problem is that for a game that’s been out less than two months, having a balance patch seems ass-backward and hasty. MvC2 at release and a year later were vastly different games, as was a year after that and five years after that. It was fun and awesome because there was so much left to discover, to find out what countered what, to learn all the little intricacies, that a patch now just seems like a very strange move.
I’m not calling you a scrub or an idiot, I just think you’ve missed the fact that people are upset about a balance patch like this coming out at all, not just the specifics of what it did to Sentinel.
I understand that people think its hasty, and I’m not going to argue that it isn’t. You also have to keep in mind that we have been playing this game of a month and a half, but Capcom has been playing it for much longer. A quick change like that makes me believe that they knew he needed balancing out of the gate and the data they gathered post launch confirmed it. I’m not completely unsympathetic in the matter. Regardless if that was the case or not, it sucks that y’all had to play with a superior version of the character for a month before it happened, and as I’ve said, I don’t necessarily agree with their idea of how to balance him. The bright side of it though is that he still plays the exact same so its not like you have to re-learn him or anything.
While MvC2 was great, it was a very unbalanced fighting game. That game existed in a different time though. Now the ability to patch and further balance a game exists and I think the majority of people out there want that. I don’t want the competitive scene of this game to look like the competitive scene of MvC2 did.
Two things you are doing. You’re assuming a game is less competitive because it’s lack balanced. Two you are equating high damage with a high tier character.
The only thing that can be said about Sen is that he does insane amounts of damage. That’s about it. Hulk and Thor does great damage too, but not as much as Sentinel. But honestly the only thing someone can reasonably say about Sentinel is his damage output. Does Sentinel has priority? No. Fast characters run circles around him. Does he have speed? Nope, very slow and a big target. Can he play keep away? Kind of, but it’s easy to get around once you see the pattern.
High damage doesn’t make a great character. Sure we can arbitarily throw out stuff like he has flight mode, a fast wave dash, a command throw. But he’s slow, and none of this is really implemented well for him. Most scrub Sentinels won’t know how to fly and unfly with him.
Here is a history lesson. Zangief in ST was low tier. He had the highest damage output in the game. If Gief got close, you were dead. Not only that, Gief had tools to get close, he had green hand which covered a lot of distance, and he couldn’t SPD you right after it. AFter 1 knockdown, it was simple guess on his behalf. You were more than likely going to get killed before you found a way to escape. Sounds like a great character. At intermmediate and newbie level, Zangeif dominates SF. He is the ultimate scrub killer in that game. He makes scrubs pay, and he makes them pay hard. Every opportunity is 50% of your lifebar.
At high level play, Gief becomes low tier. His gimmicks that work on lower tier players, don’t work on higher tier players who have learned their spacing, movement and zoning. He’s big, slow, clunky, and at high levels he simply can’t rely on simple SPD tick throw setups. He now has to have above average spacing, footsies, and guessing. That’s why so many say Gief is difficult to use in ST. Only at a high level he is.
Sentinel is a character of a similar vein, as is Hulk. They both blow scrubs up big time. People who get caught not blocking now eat 70% damage in 1 combo. Sentinel destroy any scrub tactics. The biggest scrub tactic he beats is mashing, and the lack of blocking. If you don’t feel you need to block, the run up against Sentinel, and you will have to.
What this signfies is that now Sentiel will become easier to random out at a lower level. But higher level Sents will just shrug this off, and keep doing what they’ve been doing to scrubs. Sentinel wasn’t overpowered, he just takes the “fun” out of the game. Now you have to think instead of just mashing away at a,b,c,S for no good reason. And you’re forced to block. Scrubs hate having to stop pressing buttons, and they hate blocking. Everything Sentinel forces them to do. And it is a shame CApcom decided to listen to people like them.
Wrong on both accounts. I never said either of those things nor do I believe that. MvC2 lacked balance and was competitive. I never said Sentinel was high tier just because of his damage. There are 3 or 4 other characters in this game with comparable damage and I don’t think either of them are unbalanced based on that aspect alone.
Then what is your reason you think he’s unbalanced? I’m asking you a direct question? you said you’re glad he’s balanced, which lead me to believe his former pre-patched self is unbalacned. In what ways was he unbalacned or OP?
He’s just going to answer along the lines of, “high health high damage”, “a lot of tools”, “easy combos”, “crybabies on the internet say he’s op”. I think he’s trolling, or just bases his opinions on online play.
