I played him since 2001 in Marvel 2 before he was the top dog.
His assist works well with wolverine.
His assist works well with Zero.
He has a black color scheme, just like Zero and Wolverine.
They can make him sucky and I will still play him. I just lucked out that he is good. I played boxer in ST, and played him in SF4 as well even though they keep nerfing his ass every edition. I’m sure they will do the same with Sent, but fuck it this nigga has been with me way too long. We riding till the wheels come off!
I find it a bit better than the popular ground/drone assist, it doesn’t have the screen length advantage however it seems to actually cover the ground better. It comes out faster, it does seem harder to counter.
I’m glad they lowered his health. I think they lowered it an appropriate amount given the circumstances. I think alternatively they could’ve made him much much slower or lowered his health less than they did but also made him a fair bit slower. Look at Thor, Hulk and Hagger as examples - all have tons of health but all have less range and speed than Sentinel. It made no sense to have him be both one of the fastest characters, the highest health character, and have armored attacks.
I think the only difference we’ll see is now Sentinel might be more likely found in the second spot on a team rather than anchoring.
He still has normals that come with armor and negate projectiles along with very easy combos that inflict massive damage. He’s not dead, just balanced.
@Cigar Hm thank you! I’ve tried Hsien Ko power up and been playing around with that so we’ll see how that goes. I’ll try other characters as well.

even though i no longer play sentinel, i feel for you guys… completely shafted my favorite character. i may pick him back up now.
but his nerfs are completely unwarranted imho… didnt really have a problem killing him with his massive hp before and now they just made it easy. stupid capcom.
and now all the scrubs get to laugh and point fingers even when they will still be walking into frying pans and shit.
appeasing shitty AND stupid players… i have no idea what the world is coming to.
+1 - he was making a lot of things boring since a lot of scrubs just use him as a crutch with x-factor lvl 3. Now if they only could do the same thing to the really really stupid x-factor lvl 3 dark phoenix.
Came here to offer my condolences. This is why I didn’t buy Mvc3. I wanted to wait it out and see what DLC or patches they would offer… was looking for spectator and replay mode. Stuff like this makes me happy that I didn’t. I’ve played at friends houses and stuff, and I will say that it was far too early to nerf a character this hard. MvC3 has been out for what… a month? Metagame is in it’s infancy. At this point, the nerf was unwarrented and as I suspected Capcom continues to give causal (read: SCRUBS) rimjobs because it’s all about market share now. I’m having hard time taking fighters seriously anymore, kinda how a lot of the nerfs in AE didn’t make any sense bar Honda damage because it was ridiculous imo.
It’s not just R.I.P Sent, it’s R.I.P. competitive fighters. At this rate, we’ll be playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl with the Capcom brand slapped on it. This is only the beginning. Mark my words things will only get worse here on out if causals find something new to bitch about. =/
i think this is more of capcom trying to make things broken on purpose, thinking they went too far, now trying to scale it back…except they didnt really wait and see what was going to happen.
a month and a week in before patching it is jumping the gun, especially when people were just starting to figure out ways around him. now, whats the point? sents as good as done with one touch, which shouldnt happen
Honestly instead of nerfing Sent they should of removed X-factor from the whole game. Isn’t that what made the causals rage the most? Not his health… I’ve been saying this for some time but fighters need to get rid of all these pity point mechanics… same with SSF4’s ultras. Just doesn’t seem right for someone to be rewarded for failing.
edit: Fuck the “it’s for a comeback” argument, we have damage scaling for that.
I’m hella surprised they took him down to 900k. I thought he should have been in the tier below Tron/Haggar/Hulk. He definitely did NOT deserve the highest health in game. It didn’t make sense from a gameplay perspective as he was clearly the best tank in the game, and it didn’t make sense from a comic/cannon perspective, as there’s no way a fucking robot can be more durable than either Hulk, nor can he more durable than Thor (the god of thunder).
honestly though, I am a sentinel player… I never wanted to play as him, but I can never justify getting rid of him due to how good he was, high damage, high health, great assist, etc… I had him for an easy win, and to to counter other scrubs whoring sentinel.
I’m very excited about this patch because now I can replace him with character’s I wanted to actually play like Dr. Doom, Dante or Trish
