it looks like ‘lost a few HUGE tools, gained a ton of small tools’, how even is the trade? Hard to tell as yet.
I’m pretty sure he still can; in the first Hsien-Ko and Sent gameplay vid he goes for it on Super Skrull, but doesn’t hit confirm the Rocket Punch before canceling into HSF.
HSF looks to recover a little faster too, and with the double beam you can probably go Low beam -> High beam XXX Rocket Punch XXX HSF and use that as the loop.
EDIT: Why is “puttin’ the Tims to 'em” not one of the tags?
sorry if this has been discussed, probably has but the double laser combo (10 hits) on trish (.34 seconds from the trailer) looks awesome Imagine with an assist, if sent has enough time to recover, might allow another 2 lasers or whatever. we’ll see!
Can’t wait to practice assist combos, mixups, and resets Love getting creative & innovative with combos. Never been so hyped up for a game haha
It’s really not. I’m not saying what he gained is more valuable, it’s a numeric difference. Sentinel has a lot of new tools right now, but only lost a few. The question of whether the tradeoff is in his favor or against it is too early to conclude.
What makes you think it’s a command normal? Honest question. I only recall seeing 3 total standing ground attacks: a jab, a longer punch, and his launcher. I’d be glad to have missed one.
Exactly my perspective.
Also, Hyper Sentinel Force seems to do a ton of chip against Hsien-ko.
Haha, now that would be rage-inducing. High beam, low beam, Dormammu Dark Portal assist (or Unibeam or something), High beam, low beam. That would generate a ton of hatemail.
One thing I don’t think I saw is his traditional double-stomp combo while in the air. I never saw the heavy stomp move, but I did notice the new basic stomp has a massive hitbox now, and it covers some of the horizontal range (watch his air combo against Tron, I think in the reveal trailer).
Sweet i can once again rock stealth iron man, all black sent, and white doom
shit just got real
drones look weaker, but he now has mediums back so looking foward to when people get in the lab
I wasn’t referring to the numerical difference, I was referring to their value.
Standing Spit is probably Standing C.
Double stomp combo? You’re probably thinking of his basic fast fly combo, or his refly stomps(which are out). Stomps always had a massive hitbox. The heavy stomp is still there. They all look the same as in mvc2. Whether they’re faster or slower than in mvc2 is up in the air until we can get solid frame data.
Why does everyone say “he”? It’s an it. Sentinel is not a name. It’s what it is. It’s one of many sentinels.
Since it is one of many sentinels why was it put into MvC2 anyway? Why put in a nameless canon fodder enemy instead of someone unique with a name? There are hundreds of sentinels. That would be like putting a character named Shield Agent in the game when there’s Nick Fury.
Because it was in COTA…and they were reusing every sprite they had.
I know you weren’t, which is why I corrected your criticism of me - I wasn’t making a claim for you to argue against.
Probably, and let’s hope so.
I just mean his basic light->heavy kick combo in the air. I didn’t see it in any of his videos, I just saw the light kick being used. The stomps never had quite the horizontal hitbox that was demonstrated in the reveal trailer.
Check the video at ~28 seconds to see what I mean; it might just be Tron’s larger-than-normal hurtbox though:

Sentinel has j.lp, j.mk (?), j.hk and j.hp from his MvC2 move set…
I have to admit that one of the first things I started thinking about after seeing videos of Sentinel is the extent you can exploit his large hitbox for character-exclusive combos, much like Marvel 2.
Otherwise, he looks nice. Very faithful to his Marvel 2 counterpart.
I’m not talking about what combos he has, I’m talking about the hitbox on that kick in the air combo. Or maybe it’s Tron’s hurtbox, who knows. It seems pretty far away to be connecting there if we are thinking of MvC2 hitboxes.
You said you saw lk being used, which you didn’t, therefore I’m telling you which normals he has in the air… If that wasn’t already obvious…
i think he looks bad, just my opinion. And this clip makes me want to drop phoniex  her defense sucks balls
Well, it’s either his lk or hk he uses as that third hit, and it’s difficult to ascertain which was ported over since some of the movement properties have changed. The point remains that it has a bigger than normal horizontal hitbox it seems (or, again, Tron’s hurtbox is big). I am still confused as to why you even brought it up, unless you thought I was talking about his mk this entire time, which I thought I made it pretty clear I was not.
That he has the downward jab, one foot stomp, the frying pan, and his big horizontal as air moves also makes it seem unlikely that he has both stomps, which is what I was talking about earlier in the thread, unless you can use the stomp twice and it differs slightly or something.
Phoenix is for high-risk, high-reward players only. Seth said it best: if you’re the sort of person who is fine with taking a few hits to win a fight, don’t play Phoenix.
Of course he looks bad, reveal gameplay trailers aren’t good for much really unless your name is Zero.
Because Sentinel’s have always exhibited masculine qualities. Their bodies are built like a muscular human male and their voices are usually very masculine sounding. Therefore, we tend to call them “he”.
Saying “it” all the time is just dumb.
Sentinel is Back!
