I think people are missing the real difference between MvC2 and MvC3. Sentinel might not even need nerfs, because the rest of the cast doesn’t suck complete ass. God Tiers in MvC2 were the standard when they designed this game, they didn’t need to be brought down (aside from infinites and such). That being said, Sentinel has received a ton of buffs from MvC2 to MvC3, with his only noticable nerfs being the absence of fly/unfly spam and permanent super armor. Whether he is stronger or weaker from MvC2 is irrelevant though, because character strength is always within the context of the rest of the roster.
What is up with his feet changing size, sometimes they go all little baby feet and others they seem normal (but not as big as they were in MvC2) lol.
Anyhow I think he is looking very solid. His air hyper seems to be buffed, at least in size. Is he OP? I don’t know yet, but there seems to be a lot of other solid choices out there so I have a hard time believing he’ll rule the roost as in previous years.
Logic doesn’t belong on the internet sir.
Yeah, but no permanent super armor is a big deal. Also, he’s nowhere near as fast as he was in MvC2.
Out of Storm and Magneto (sans the nerfed tri-jump) I think Sentinel will end up getting the biggest shaft out of the bunch.
Yeah, it looks like they compensated for what he lost. I’m not worried about Sent being trash. Makes me wish these guys balanced SF4 to be honest.
New game, new rules though so we have to dissect the game to see what characters make the best use of the system.
Does Sent have his Medium Punch attack from CotA? In CotA, Pressing MP will have him shoot rockets from his hands/arm. Would’ve been nice if they gave him this as a special move.
Yes, everyone can iirc.
about the super armor, sometimes he has it sometimes he doesn’t… or,
We’ve seen strong hits go right through, so maybe he has universal armor, but the armor doesn’t have much ‘health’… so a jab he’ll ignore, but a sweep or a fireball will stop him.
Or…maybe he has them on just certain moves like Hulk…
Windy, that would be Heavy Armor (at least in Smash terms). I’m inclined to think it’s on specific moves, though.
Well he has heavy armor on his launcher for sure (C. Viper tries to jump in ), which I believe is just like Hulk. He’s likely to have armor on his other moves as well.
of all the videos, i haven’t seen ground rocket punch - > hyper sentinel force -> spit -> rocket punch -> repeat. It’s very likely that it has been removed aww
I’ve only seen super armor go off during his launcher. If anyone has a video reference for it happening another time, I’d like to see it. I think Hulk was reduced to the same state.
Remember when Storm was revealed, and a lot of people said she was slow now? Capcom doesn’t play the characters to even half of their abilities in these videos, they just make it look flashy. Sentinel Force already frees him up earlier than in MvC2, and Hyper Sentinel Force lets you DHC later than the MvC2 version did. Sentinel can also combo his spits into each other, which is pretty crazy. Keep your mind open, there’s still a lot more to be seen. Even if he can’t do his old loop, he clearly has the ability to do other things out of Hyper Sentinel Force, since he chains his other hyper into it right after. If he can chain the hyper, he can probably launch out of it too under some circumstances if not all.
The future looks bright for Sentinel; he only lost a few tools, and gained a ton in return.
Not a single move from COTA, unfortaunatley =(.
I was hoping for at least the leg buzzsaw.
He’s stabbing someone with that finger!
Too early for that conclusion. We’ll have to wait and see.
Frying Pan has armor I believe. Sent used Frying Pan and just took Doom’s rocks in one of the vids.
Didn’t Sentinel have the HSF to Plasma storm link in MvC2? I remember right before the reveal, I was dicking around in Training mode and was able to do that (in the corner of course).
I was actually kinda surprised They kept it in. Pleasantly surprised of course >:)
I have mixed feelings about Sent. I was hoping so hard for him to get back all of his funky normals from CotA and all he got was his throw (which IS much cooler and apparently a lot more useful than his MvC2 throw) but on the other hand it looks like they did a GREAT job of rebalancing him. He can still do the stuff that made him good in 2, but lost all of the stuff that made him broken (refly, normal chip, armor, retarded health) and even got some new coolness. It’ll be interesting to see how low beam breath can be used now that it’s (apparently) a command normal.
Fixed, if anything it looks like it will be easier to do.
Yeah, you could iirc. It wasn’t really worth the meter though. I wonder if it will be in this game…
Actually, he DID get his COtA throw back. And it still combos like it did in COtA.
Though I wish he did get that silly body splash back though
