I just have this vision in my head of pz john posting, after the results of showdown championships, all the teams that qualify for an interview on mashharder. Then I see like the team showing up to pz for the interview and having to go in that room that pz john and that guy that works on the game is always walking in and out of, for the interview. in the room theres a table with five people(the board) and the team has to sit in front and just answer tons of “what if” questions based on possible scenarios that might be encountered while in japan, followed by more questions on japanese/US cultural differences, some basic-mid tier japanese vocabulary and an inkblot test. the interview is finished up with going back out to the game and between the three teammates each one has to complete one of the following(to ensure that nobody is freeriding on the team): perform your highest hit cumbo, perform your coolest looking cumbo, and fill your whole super meter as fast as you can without offensive bursting or whatever its called. the machine won’t be set to freeplay so if you dont have your card you lose. with that being said i just wanna say three things for now.
rudy said it the best that one time at his house when he wanted to stay on the game after he lost, “it’s my house.”
what up pat? i miss you guys, im still having withdrawals from not being in New Orleans.
who needs a teammate for GG? I can’t play the game for shat, BUT what i lack in skill i will make up for in the interview process. I have strong sales experience, I own like 8 suits and i know how to tie a neck tie. Resume available upon request. ME AND MY GOONS.
Wow this sounds dope, if they’re sending the most interesting player for GG I should definitely be send for free. I think it would be a insult for me to even have to interview.
BLASTER COMBO! LOl omg this probably the best few sentences i have ever read then laughed to for awhile. good shit joey.
all i know is trashday will be 10 times better than this. how do i know? cause marvel crew going all out for marvel this time. we gonna have like 5-6 tvs for marvel, including mine and big chris’s and others.
I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry, I don’t blame you, this is a rare chance where a player doesn’t have to win a tourney to reap the spoils. So you guys should keep those lips nicely puckered and moist until the day of the event.
Furthermore, for you to say that SBO doesn’t focus solely on the interests of the players could be true, I don’t know, you may be right. But the main point I got from what pz was trying to say is that they wanted to get capable players so they can atleast make past the first round. That just sounds like something to say so they can do what they want to do, pretend to have the players best interest at hand and do the exact opposite. I guess you could sell a magazine with that.? Nah I could write a whole book and call it War with God, that name sounds appropriate.
And no matter what some of you guys choose to believe PZ is in the U.S. so yeah they kinda represent us unless you guys are flying from Houston to Planet Zero island and then to Japan. Players come from all across the world to compete and these players are all associated with which country they are from and thats just the way it is. If this wasn’t the case everyone would be flying to Japan trying to get their own SBO spot. Matter of fact #1’s Chicken and Rice would have their own SBO spot, better yet we need to get a spot for Church Street because from what I know they got what choo need.
Please listen, I’m not mad at any of you guys because of your view of the situation but please help me understand one thing. Imagine a dude broke into your house with no weapon, smacked your Mom and took all of your belongings, then he turns around, shows you his face, tells you his name and where you can find him and you did nothing about it, you didn’t even try to trip the nigga as he ran out with all of your shit with both hands full.
Anyway back to what I was saying, going to Japan is something most gamers dream of, so I can understand why some of you are so conflicted.
Just keep up the good work and good luck to the players who get to make to SBO.
You should have a compfortable flight with your balls in PZ’s back pocket.
Guy on church street: "what choo need what choo need?"
Cordarrah: "Yeah, how much you get on a SBO spot?
Guy on church street: “ah homie you gotta fill out this application first.”
besides, it’s *their *spot, not yours…you’re entitled to show that you represent the best that the U.S. has to offer. it’s common sense to bring the best players, and not the best team (which usually has a weak link in it).
if you have criticisms about how PZ runs (oh shit! it’s a business!), then go to Japan and try to win your own spot. be all anti-PZ all you want, but in the end, there will be players vying for a spot on the team(s).
this is a possibility. i guess we’ll see once April rolls around. it’s a little harsh to make a straight-up accusation before things happen, though.
it’s understandable why players are annoyed at the circumstances.
i was just explaining things how i truly see them though. unless you or #1’s chicken and rice wants to go through the process of meeting with SBO staff, we just have to accept these circumstances.
there’s not really any good reason to bitch about it unless you really think that something will change, or you’re just trolling for entertainment.
please be more specific. the only offenses that come to mind are…
-third strike ranbat prizes-- pz paid out after enough time/bitching
-SC '07 prizes-- pz paid out (i didn’t win anything, so i’m not sure, so correct me if i’m wrong)
-speculation that japanese players weren’t paid for SC '07
if there’s anything else, let us know without this analogy stuff or links to youtube family guy videos.
there are contests all of the time where different (sometimes unconventional) stipulations are set. pz has pretty much laid out the details for this. it’s the players’ CHOICE on whether or not they want to participate. i think it’s unreasonable to judge them for whatever decision they make.
fuck this is what happens when i have nothing to do at work with internet access
should probably stop embarrassing myself
I think the interview won’t be crazy and anyone who is sane and has an acceptable appearance will qualify to go if they win, but I do think it will have one “dealbreaker” question:
"Do you have the financial resources to go to japan and compete in SBO?"
From what I’ve heard from several sources PZ doesn’t want to and isn’t going to pay for winners to go to Japan this year.
Every1 that rolls to pz always has the same argument. This basically comes down to alot of players feel like this tourney is not fair. If u went out of town to a tourney and felt or found out it was rigged u would be mad too. Emotiongear has been trying to ease the tension on dustloop. The only thing ppl really want is clarification. The rules seem vague and most of the stuff most ppl have heard have been negative about pz. I feel like if the rules were a little more fleshed out then alot of the arguments would be cleared up. Also @ this point in the game they r not going to change the tourney so if u want to just go. Jan last year had the right idea when he said whether r not they send me is up to them. I’m just going to go win the tourney and react from there.
P.S. If ppl want to complain on a public forum that is their right. Just like it is ur right to complain about them complaining. Just as u want ur posts to be taken seriously I suggest u plz take theirs serious. If u r one of the ones who actually know something that may be useful to the community about pz then say it. By the way buckethead didnt say nething about pz’s past problems this time. By bringing them up u r actually promoting why pz looks shady. Gene, Ronald, and I all got our money promptly on Friday. Only complaints from us was it wasnt given out when it was promised.
P.P.S. Plz ppl dont bring the nigga out of me. He has been tame the last couple of weeks and I dont want my mojo fucked up.
-i tried to stay respectful while still offering my opinions. i didn’t tell anybody to shut the fuck up or anything this time.
-i don’t really know any more than anybody else. my point of view might be unique to some people here, though.
-sure, he didn’t say anything about pz’s past problems. i’d rather have people throw details out into the open instead of silly passive bullshit about some dude breaking into your house etc etc… i don’t really care about making pz look shady. facts are facts. they may or may not have made themselves look shady.
-ah alright, thanks, i wasn’t aware of any promise of being paid by a certain time. i don’t know how this equates to something like “a dude broke into your house with no weapon, smacked your Mom and took all of your belongings, then he turns around, shows you his face, tells you his name and where you can find him and you did nothing about it, you didn’t even try to trip the nigga as he ran out with all of your shit with both hands full.” though
just take a deep breath, practice some aba loops, etc
The only reason people are acting like this is because they think that there’s a possibility that a team can win the qualifier but not go to SBO. Of course that leads to people asking themselves why should I go to a tournament if there’s a possibility that I can win the tournament but not reap to grand prize? Of course people WANT to go but don’t want to get cheated and that’s what this sounds like. They want clarification on what is required and what will disqualify them? They want to go but all the bullshit makes them pause before deciding to go.
To take a page out of gene’s book I want to eat dinner but the dinner looks like shit and smells like shit. So of course I’m going to pause and ask myself ‘is this really shit’ because if it is I can’t eat it. So people just want to know whether or not pz is really serving them shit so they can make an informed decision. I think that’s reasonable. And will all due respect, if you already ate the shit who wouldn’t complain regardless of what it would or wouldn’t change. I mean it’s a forum where people can speak there views. If i accidentally ordered shit off the menu I would mad as hell if someone else knew but didn’t tell me and I ate it.
p.s. Obviously there are some of you who will still eat the shit anyway.
The clarification of the rules as I know is this. Showdown Championships is its own tournament with its own prizes. SBO representatives are being chosen by a panel of judges based on their criteria, that part I don’t know for certain. People that keep saying Showdown is a qualifier is mistaken. Participation at Showdown is one of the criteria for being considered. Thus, winning means you won the Showdown Championships tournament and receive the posted prizes as stated. The SBO representatives I believe will be officially chosen and announced sometime before the deadline in June.
