as far as americans go, i didn’t get paid till evo last year (didn’t make a big deal about it though; only got 3rd for $100). i’m told that i was a special case though, and the other americans got paid within a reasonable time frame
i can confirm that the japanese players haven’t gotten paid though, at least as of a few weeks ago. a few of them used to bug me about it a lot
apparently a month or so ago emotiongear went on a visit to japan, promising the japanese “some” of their prize money before he left. while he was there, said japanese tried to contact him through cell and email, and could not get a response
I ain’t trying to be funny but i just want to know that if i go to the event and place will i get my money on time. If possible i would like to setup a meeting with ranma and john to alleviate my concerns.
I am more than likely going to throw away caution and take a chance on the shit sandwich but I’m hoping for the best.
there’s a number of reasons i’m not going, but i’ll mention that the cvs2-tourney-as-an-afterthought while st (which didnt even have enough people to run a tourney last year) is a marquee tourney doesn’t sit well with me
dang, Guess I have to wait til Trashday to watch you play CvS2. (are you going to that?). You did bring up a good point though, but numbers will probably be much different this year, since Showdown is open to anyone who wants to enter. I wonder tho, since im pretty sure Con Goers would be more inclined to join Guilty Gear and Melty Blood then ST.
you don’t really need an appointment… when i saw the sbo team announcement, the next time i was at pz, i walked to the counter and said something along the lines of “hey i need to know if i actually have a fair chance of getting on the team, otherwise, i won’t waste my time” and then they semi-clearly explained how and why they were using this kind of format. it’s definitely an easier way to do things, considering pzjohn’s love for bulletin boards.
i agree with sp00ky… this is actually going to be a quality event. there are too many random factors keeping strong comp from coming, though… not being able to avoid being a week after FR doesn’t help at all…
When i went last year I was impressed with the venue, but the way things were executed didn’t go so well. I was hoping for a lot of changes but all I see is the same old story, so I think i will sit it out until next year and hope they make some changes. You guys almost got it right but there are still some pretty ugly things going on in the background that put people off. I do want to see this done ‘right’ the next time because you guys have what it takes to be the next best thing next to evo/sbo.
lol with sbo spot going to a team that might not even win the tourney
wtf does being interviewed have to do with winning an sbo spot
get judged and get an interview
do u have to fill out a job application to?
shit like this is one of the reasons im losing faith in all the tourney shit
…dang that’s fucked up. I really don’t understand why this dude has to be so shady. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. You learn that shit in kindergarten.
