Shoryuken.com Match of the Year 2009 Finalists - Cast Your Vote Before 1-2-10!

yeah that match really put me on the map… bro, i been on the map in this scene since the 90’s k thx.

jaeron is a sakura fanboy? rofl. he is a gief only user.

blah blah gimmicks this gimmicks that. sf is full of guessing games, including marvel. people can make excuses all they want, gimmicks, luck, blah blah blah, you dont see alex coming in and making excuses. hes played my sakura about 100 times prior to that match, he knew what to expect. it get’s old that just cuz its a sf legend, that he gets an excuse for losing to sakura by saying and assuming “he has zero experience against sakura.” gimme a fucking break. any real player wont complain that they lose cuz they lost to something they didnt see. they may say they did, but theyll also say they got outplayed. granted it was 1 match and not a set. valle is still the better player IMO. but not in that match.

yeah, i had an ace up my sleeve with the double crossup. but you know what, guys like valle, choi, watson, wong etc always hide some new trick til nationals. its what we do. throw someone off with a new trick to gain the advantage.

call it gimmicks all you want, but ppl are stil lgetting hit by this shit all the time after playing it 100s of times. she’s tricky.

if you guys dont like it, or the other nominations thats cool. but downplaying the players is bogus and calling out keits for the nominations is bs. thi sshit is just for fun, and some of you take it too seriously. vote and move on.

You know damn well that there were no fighting games in between SF2 and SF4/T6 </09er>

well… seems that we are having to vote on some fairly boring, normal matches.
A double KO doesn’t make a good match in my opinion. Watching someone comeback towards the end, doesn’t either… IMO.
What makes a good match to me, is the upset. Someone beating someone they were not supposed to beat.
So Im going to vote for VVV Scrub vs Diago at empire arcadia
ha
I guess…

The tvc match was pretty sweet as well.

The sakura match was just

It was a hard choice but between those 3 marvel all the way.

/me can’t wait for tvc.

I voted for Shiro’s Abel Clinic! Holy S!

Wow guys. I just got neg rep for voting for the “wrong” game. Apparently, “Fuck SF4, you know nothing of anything.”

Sigh.

The Marvel team is the equivalent of Sean winning SBO 3s so I voted for it.

Since I can only fully understand sf4 matchs, I voted Fujisawa vs Akimo.

I think Dashio vs Shiro had a impressive 1st round, but the 2nd was quite commun. And it’s just Abel ability to do 950 damage in two combos, like Sagat does too.

And Sabre vs Valle was good too, but in this match only one player shines, and the other gets crushed. I like better when both players shows their skill.

And that Honda vs Guile match would be good even if someone had won, cause you never knew who would win until the end. When one seemed to have control of the match, the other one did something inespected to regain momentum e vice versa until the very end. That’s a great match IMO.

But, there were some other matchs this year that were as good as this one.

I’d personally chose the last match of Afrolegends vs Choi STHDR, winners finals at EVO 09.

I’ve heard there is a lot of neg repping going on in this thread over announcing you voted for something another member didnt like. Thats really the opposite of the spirit of this contest. Its to honor great players putting on a great match for us to enjoy and relive for years. All of the nominees, even the ones that are not finalists, are winners in my book.

Another strategy, of course, would be to not announce who you voted for. The results are hidden, after all.

Internet fuckwad theory proves true.

I vote for Valle vs Sabre that was by far one of the most epic matches i have seen

Oops

I voted Valle/SabrE

Only other match that wowed me in any way was the MvC2 one. That was a close second. But going toe to toe with Valle for everyone to see with Sakura and winning so fantastically gets my vote. It was the most exciting, most wowing, and actually had me on the edge of my seat.

Blind select voting was definitely a good idea. I only get one vote and I do NOT want to be counter-picked.

They all have a wow factor to them… just pick the one that made you say “wow” the most.

Before I even saw this list I thought I was going to vote for Calipower/Sabre.

To be fair I thought I would watch all the matches.
I almost skipped TVC and MVC2 since I don?t play them.
Wow I would have missed out.

VDO/Potter match was amazing I had to watch it 4 times.

Don’t hate on Toshinden GB

Lots of great matches, I’m real curious to see the results. Hidden voting was a good choice, hypes up the final announcment.

It doesn’t matter if you played him 100 times or 100000000000 times, he’s still going to have to guess which side to block, or excuse me, educated guess. Regarding you being in the scene, as far as SFIV is concerned, after that match everyone was like, “hey watchout for that guy that plays sakura, sabre was his name?” and not trying to take credit away, if vdo’s match wouldn’t have been nominated yours would have my vote. I saw it happen live, and it was hype still is, but if you understand my mvc2 example you’ll know what I based my vote on.

Potter is really good at getting into Marvel Video’s.

Those Sakura mixups are godlike!
