Voted for sabre but I wish I chose the MVC2 match.
Sabre seriously just came out of no where with Sakura like that, really beasting on Valle, surprised me.

nothing wrong with sabre’s sakura, its really good. However, its has no merit compared to vdo’s win. If sabre beat valle, a god like rufus and a god like sagat back to back, that would of been the closer to being equivalent.

Hands down VDO vs POTTER MVC2 MATCH OF THE YEAR, vdo kept his posture until the very end. It almost seems Storm stopped blocking at the end did it? ;p
if you’ve never played MVC2, imagine your favorite fighter where you spend most of the match blocking and taking advantage of a few openings your opponent left, and even the game won’t connect your supers but you manage to come back by staying solid UNTIL THE VERY END, no power ups, no comeback mechanics, only skill.
Fujisawa vs Akimo: double k.o. at the guile vs honda match? not match of the year material, oops ultra combo and combo into super, now we’re even lol? its like nominating a MvC2 match where the comeback is based around a snapback assist kill. NO THANKS.
Alex Valle vs Sabre: Gimmicks all day long? guess right or left? WRONG, guess right or left? WRONG, guess right or left? WRONG, guess right or left? WRONG, game over. Is like nominating an MvC2 match where magneto is doing crossup resets on some fool all round long. Gimmicks won’t make a match of the year you serious? Hype match of the year maybe, or not even , im sure there are other matches out there.
kubo vs GIAN: combo with karas for 3 minutes, in comes ryu, one combo on karas: DEAD, activate glowing shit, combo ryu, DEAD (like 10 seconds total WTF) is like nominating a MvC2 match where a juggernault gets a comeback win using two power up supers, damn that analogy doesn’t even do it justice, how did this get nominated again?
momochi vs K.O: its nice to see a makoto winning but this match was just your typical 3rd strike high level match, jump back RH into super? I don’t see me doing a standing ovation for this EVER, not on this earth not on this DIMENSION or TIME LINE you name it, not match of the year. This is like nominating an MvC2 match where a magneto vs cable last man standing ends with cable doing a jump back AHVB, solid play yeah but not match of the year.
dashio vs shiro: viper- “I got gimmicks oh shit almost perfect” abel- “My turn i got gimmicks too + more damage, I WIN” repeat for 2 more rounds YAWN, actually no, I remember this match made me chuckle when I saw it, but my reaction definitely wasn’t OMFG this is the best match I"ve ever seen all year long!!! <---- NOPE its like nominating a MvC2 match where 2 ironman teams go back and forth doing gimmick into infinite, but one wins because he links into a juggernault super, lol.
I don’t even play Marvel and had to vote for VDO. Thats crazy stuff and its way beyond all the other matches.

VDO vs. Potter allday long. The other matches don’t hold a token to the MVC2 match. Props to Potter but VDO’s Ken is rediculous. Gotta love that infinite…Haha
The reason I picked the Sakura match is because that match put Sakura on the map. That match sculpted the playstyle of all the Sakuras out there, because there really isn’t anyone else doing it. I’ve seen the Kenfinite before, and while the match was exciting, (I was there… it was hype) a last second finish is awesome, but not what I would say should be the deciding factor of a match of the year.
It wasn’t done to a second rate player, it was Alex Valle. And to those saying “It’s just guessing. Guess wrong, and get hit.” well, every fighting game has that. Storm guessed wrong, and got hit in the final second of the match. Further, that wasn’t a matter of not knowing the match. They’ve played plenty of times.
I know Marvel will get a lot of votes just because it’s Marvel, and there’s a lot of people who won’t vote for a SF4 match just because it’s SF4, but think about what you’re really voting on…
That Sakura match put Sakura on the map, and sculpted the play style for many, many people. No one had done that before, where there was nothing new and exciting about the Potter VDO match. To me, that makes the winner SabrE Valle.

Why don’t you think about what you are voting on? that sfiv fight was dumb, it didn’t put sakura on the map, it put SABRE on the map, sakura stands at the same place. You also make a dumb argument about every fighting game having a guessing game, and you go further into stupidity and compare the sabre match to the vdo match. For your information sabre match was guessing ALL match long, in comparison to the alleged “storm guessed wrong at the end”. And for your information storm didn’t guess anything at the end, I won’t even elighten you about what happened because your fan boy mind will block all understanding.
in short: you’re a sakura fanboy who voted for the most important match for YOUR character at the time, NOT FIGHTING MATCH OF THE YEAR.

you’re incorrect, SF4 will get a lot of votes because it’s SF4 and a lot of the 09 sf4 scrubs will vote for it. MvC2 will get the vote because it probably deserves it imo…and the reasoning for a lot of the sabre votes either doesn’t make sense (is weak) or can be applied to a much greater extent to the VDO match.

not really trying to shit on you for your choice…but you put your thoughts out there and so I felt the need to reflect on them…since a lot of 09ers who voted for sabre had the same weak/weird reasoning and a lot of times…their reasons applied in a much greater fashion to the VDO match.
