Shin Megami Tensei / Persona Series: General Discussion

Futaba: Try no to cry

Me:

P5A when?

oh god heres my kill me moment of the day, shouldnt be any spoilers… so after this happened looking at a guide im at the second to last puzzle in shidos castle, you know you turning into whatever running around like a jackass blah blah. So the safe room is really close to the end of the puzzle to right? So after doing it right before i do the end, im like ok im gonna to the room next door and save just in case becuase i know im at the end and i dont want to get randomly personaed and killed after spending half hour or whatever it is. So I go to the save room, i come back and all the enemies have respawned… ok thats never happened before after saving the game… even worse, I realize im no turning into anything anymore… The entire puzzle has reset itself, which is now actually confusing as fuck becuase i can no longer tell what was locked before as a map as to what to do next… whats EVEN WORSE is now, enemies… like arent dying… they just keep respawning. Fuck me… I dunno what I set off but ya… i even tried to say ok maybe ill use some of these smoke screen bombs so enemies dont findme because I cant beleive i gotta do all this shit over again but nope not working.

Honestly i have not liked this game very much. I dont get the hype i like 3 and 4 better.

You must be tired. Have you tried…

Going to bed?

ha whatever i went back and beat it but god damn if that didnt make me just have to take a time out for myself, seriously every enemy keeps respawning they arent staying dead… i dunno what I did to trigger that but fuck me.

Must have been the work of an enemy stand

you reloaded the area. because enemies are treated as obstacles in that puzzle they will respawn to make it impassable to your mouse forms. I can’t remember the exact tell but some doors will stay open while others will cause a reload.

I had to do that whole puzzle over once after getting bodied by a King Frost. Called it a night.

This is one of the few games where upon beating it, I immediately started a new game plus without even getting up.

Same thing happened to me.

I got bodied not paying attention even though I was op. I think it was Titania casting her sleep + nuke spell. It was then I realized status ailments are really effective in this game.

Same here…hate that fucker. Ironically enough, went to the same spot he bodied me (though in fairness, it was due to me being greedy for EXP when I was running on fumes) and…there was no King Frost.

P4 was about looking for a serial killer [queen]
P5 was about a gang [of teenagers] doing gangster stuff
P6 is gonna be about racing, watch

6th palace down.

Dang.

Finally finished the game last night. I was Lv80 with like 135 hours, about 20 of which are idling.

I’m on NG+ right now. When you realize that 98% of your dialogue choices in the game have no consequences whatsoever, it’s a lot easier to be an asshole to people.

I love Persona 5, but one of my biggest complaints about the game is how some of the bosses feel too scripted. [details=Spoiler]It was really disheartening knowing that the battle you just fought didn’t matter because story. I actually killed the 4th palace’s boss before the cutscene triggered on my first playthrough. So it just sat at 1 HP and went about its business until the cue came for the battle to continue. Mad annoying, [/details]

Aaaaand done. That was 85 hours of my life well spent.
There were several endings, right? Everything ended up nicely on my end, so I think I got the good one.

Don’t think I’ll be NG±ing this though. As much as I enjoyed the ride, a lot of that was due to the characters, and to some degree the overall story. Once you strip that away, I suspect I’d enjoy the game a lot less. The combat system, though good, started to outstay its welcome towards the end, and I’m no 100% completion guy so I won’t be spending time on doing all the things I’m pretty sure I missed. I’m certainly not going Persona pokemon-hunting.

Still, I’m probably getting my hands on another Persona-game as soon as I can. I’ve had a good time, and I’ve only heard nice things about the other games in the series as well.

edit: also my girlfriend said she thought P5 had a “kinda boring” soundtrack. She did this while listening to the soundtrack from La La Land. Someone needs a change of heart.

Finished on Normal Difficulty, 108+ hours in, with level 76 party. 50 dollars well spent. But I don’t think I will do NG+ any time soon. If it was like NG+ in other games, where you keep your levels and all the enemies are late-game tough at the beginning, I might reconsider because the idea of using level 80-90+ personas through a good chunk of the game, rather than the tail-end of it, sounds intriguing but alas that is not the case. Also, the fact that only your protagonist can draw from your persona stockpile limits the strategic scope.

our girl Aigis made her debut in Deathbattle.

You need to get into her palace ASAP.
