[details=Spoiler]Glad to have a new navigator. Morgana is incredibly annoying. Not so much in battle, but his tendencies elsewhere make me not want to hear his voice at all.
Looking forward to the abilities Futaba offers.[/details]
I really like that the game actually bothers exploring some fairly dark themes. The opening to the 3rd palace and the entire basis for the 4th palace is something few games would actually have the balls to talk about, much less a seemingly colorful JRPG about magical teenage master thieves.
The ending of 4th palace made me shed tear, too.
My biggest complaint about the game as well. Thankfully I enjoy the sections between the free bits enough that it’s not a dealbreaker, but there’s a lot of railroading and text you need to get through to get to the truly great parts of the game.
Exactly. I finished the first palace and after the brief amount of “free time” they give, it felt like I was just hitting “X” for 90 minutes. To make things worse, I feel like so much of it is unnecessary, so that throws the balance off even more. I’m gonna approach this like a interactive novel from here on out.
Dunno, I quite like how the basic, daily lives of the characters are portrayed, and I like the characters quite a bit this far. Allows us to get to know them and sets up a nice contrast to the exploits in the Metaverse. Honestly, if there’s anything I think is unnecessary, it is when something in the Palaces is clearly a metaphor (or at least a representation of the palace owner’s psyche) and the game goes “omg look a metaphor”, not the daily bits.
But yeah, they do drag out. Thankfully I’m sucked too far into the game to care.
Also, how many palaces are reasonable to finish in one go (provided you brought consumables)? I did it pretty easily with #3, and got to the last saferoom in #4 even when I forgot to stock up healing items.
Currently in 4th palace. I like the theme of it as well, that and what the actual palace is. Music for it is good too. Im interested to see how the change of heart goes for this palace owner
The life sim aspects is what drew to the series. It gives the series a down to earth feeling that no other RPG has. It also keeps things small scale (for the most part) and personal which I honestly prefer.
I’m really liking Futuba. Most of her scenes are hilarious. She manages to be bratty without annoying the hell out of me.
The life sim stuff is cool - I like having to be smart about how I spend my time. It’s just that I’m not getting the freedom to do that too often right now. It’s just a ton of on rails conversations right now. Someone told me it’s better the farther I get, so I’m just being patient.
I manage to workaround that by completing palaces as quickly as possible. I managed to reach the treasure of the 4th palace within one in-game day. Once beaten I have the entire month free to do whatever I want. The only thing that sucks about it is if you the hell out of the palaces like I do then mementos will be worth exploring. New areas only open up after the deadline. Unless you haven’t completed requests or haven’t captured the personas there you have no reason to go.
Yea but that gives you plenty of time to level up for the next dungeon and Mementos once you’ve finished up your free time activities for the month, least that’s how it was for me in 4. Once I got all my side activities done I just did work re-running the months dungeon leveling up, gaining and fusing Persona, earning skill cards, yada yada.
I level grind palaces so hard that the enemies in mementos mostly under leveled. I need to get to the areas past the rest point to get enemies with any decent exp gains. My plan now is to explore mementos when I have requests stacked. The boss grind makes it worth it if the regular enemies don’t.
