It sounds like you were saying Vega was OP which is why he was nerfed so badly… From my understanding, you are also against invuln ST?
I also wasn’t the one who said “Make him ST Vega”. My main concern at this point is giving Vega invuln frames. In truth, I don’t care WHICH move gets them, but it would be useless if it was exSHC, and too strong if it was exFBA. RCF wouldn’t do the trick as the break off AA move that he needs, so that logically leaves his historical ST.

Many of the AA specials (as in NOT EX) listed don’t have enough I. Frames to keep them from trading or flat out being stuffed with certain meaty jump ins. If any at all. SRKs trade, as their I. Frames often don’t last long enough to stuff some jump ins. Often to get full body Invincibility, most characters have to burn an EX to do so, which is what I was referring to. Hell, I believe only Gief gets full body I. Frames on Lariat startup. Fei Long’s Burning Kick can be straight stuffed.
Note I said they aren’t invincible (not that they don’t have any invincibility frames), and they aren’t. Which is why restoring Vega’s Super Turbo Scarlet Terror as a special (which was fully invincible until recovery), would give him one of the best AA wakeups in the game. Instead, that should be given to his EX ST, and normal ST just needs a faster startup and maybe more active frames so that it doesn’t get stuffed as easily.
Vega’s Izuna drop activates slightly slower than a normal grab and the horizontal range is slightly lower than a normal air grab. Thats why you’ll find it amazingly easy to catch Claw’s FBA with air grab.
And Chun Li does have pretty much everything Claw has but better.Its weird as hell but I play her alternatively and it feels like a Claw without FBA and SHC with faster/higher priority pokes with almost the same range (Claw still has more). Claw probably needs more range on that note… The only move that doesn’t have Claw’s claw going through people without hitting is FBA and Cr.LP. Claw needs his range.
A bit off topic but… Does anyone think Chun Li was supposed to be a clone of Claw in this particular SF?

Edit: Better flips are redundant. He already has a good backdash. So essentially you are just giving hm 3 different backdashes. WTF for? Give this man the thing he needs to not die a slow harsh death in the corner.
Is Ex ST being invincible all he needs? Hell, no. But you give him that and he is instantly no longer the worst character that’s for DAMN sure.
Let’s say I’d have to sacrifice a meter bar or two to get to the other side of the screen, how could Sagat ever punish that with a kara knee? And even if he could, there are few characters in the cast who can get to the other side of the screen fast. That’s not an argument against things like EX Flips or the sort.

You die against certain characters like Gief/Abel/Ryu/Ken/Sagat/Rufus/Viper. The point is, because Claw has high penalty for soaking in a little damage, he dies quite quickly. His 1000Hp is like a mirage that eludes people to think he has decent health. Have you not noticed that the main reason why you can get out at all is because the opponent makes a mistake? There are only a handful of pressure strings that give Claw the oppertunity to get out if he has good reaction and often, its easy to miss or the opponent anticipates it. Usually, by the time you get out of the rush down, you already lost the claw and -30% health.
the KKK flip is not a substitute for a backdash
here’s why
ryu gets at you on your wakeup with c. jab, option select hadouken sweep. you backdash, you are swept. you KKK flip, the sweep whiffs and you’re even.
most characters can’t reliably rush you down with out a command grab. if they have one, they’re instantly a bad matchup for vega, with the exception of fuerte who can’t really do much outside of mixing you up. it’s because you’re forced to guess at pretty much every juncture what move you should make next. a lot of other characters rely on FADCing to have safe offenses and in most cases if you just block and anticipate a throw tech you’ll be fine, as soon as you throw tech you have all the distance you need to make your escape. the problem IS, that as you’re blocking, your equipment says peace out, and when you DO guess wrong, you take like 600 damage from a normal BNB combo.
I dont know what you mean by clone. They have a few similar moves like many characters do, and can be played with a similar poke and run style, but beyond that there isn’t much. I guess you could say I main both characters, among others, and I don’t really play them similarly.
Well… One is a space monster/turtler (or supposed to be) while the other is a hybrid of spacing and offensive. Its just that… They seem so perfecttly matching XD. I t hink its just me crawls in a hole
Well if they were to change backflips I for one would appreciate it bouncing off the wall when you’re in the corner. Akuma’s teleport is useful in the corner, why not give Claw that sort of usefulness as well? more defensive mixups would be cool.
You want an answer to pressure in the corner? Ultra 1 has I frames now. Also, don’t get stuck in the corner. Better backflips means this will happen less often. Funny how that works.
