Some tech I found with the characters during the week I was using them. Obviously this isn’t all the tech the characters have…but this is what I found. Next up, the match footage.
Also, this is where the characters stand in terms of the votes so far for my next 2 characters:
What’s the gap for Xiao when doing that corner setup after cr.hk, dive kick and overhead hop? What’s the gap between the overhead and the wake-up frames? Can the opponent jump out even if she uses a 3f jab?
There essentially isn’t one, unless you do the overhead. As you saw, I was able to go into back turn (8 frames) and go into EX Dark & Stormy, which becomes EX Turn of Fortune with an extra punch input, which is 13 frame start-up, and I STILL got the armor frames (about 2-3 frames before the first active frame) when the dummy was mashing jab. (And if you look closely the 2nd time I hit even BEFORE the jab mash for a counter-hit, the armor never activates).
And from what I can tell, you have about a 7-12 frame gap between your wake-up and the overhead itself…however, despite this, you won’t be able to cr.lp mash your way out either since she’s already mid-hop and goes over crouch jabs (I went over Zangief’s crouch jab as well when I was facing Crimsonchild when he tried to crouch jab me out of an overhead from that same set-up). You can stand up and possibly jab her out of it…but at that point you’re probably standing up anticipating the overhead and are vulnerable to a low into full combo (since with that set-up you can do a cr.mk meaty).
And if you try to jump away from the overhead, I believe that you get hit. That thing has a pretty ridiculous hitbox…I accidentally used it as an anti-air once. O.o
I really think christie has what it takes to win a tourney. And I wanna see guy rise to the “omg he is gonna be soo op and top tier in 2013”, bar that ppl thought he was going to reach when balance changes were announced.
I see that setup used all the time with Xiao. Hmmmm could try to test a NJ after that setup? I wanna know where the opponent is after being hit (are they standing or crouching?)
Okay, just tested, and you can neutral jump vs the overhead. However, you can’t directly punish the overhead this way, she recovers before you do. But if you try to jump away, you open yourself to a low into full combo since you can do the low meaty. And if you have a real floaty jump, like Xiaoyu herself, if you react fast enough you can potentially do a cr.hk anti-air and get a full punish that way. However, the majority of the cast’s jumps are fast enough so they don’t have to worry about that.
So there are of course ways to escape but every means you have to escape can be punished by Xiaoyu if she knows what you’ll do. It truly turns into a guessing game, and for the most part Xiaoyu is at the advantage. Her corner oki is really scary.
Just like Juri’s. I see. so you can Nj the overhead…I didn’t plan on punishing it just avoiding it. When you hit them low they were obviously in a cr. state when you meatied them with a cr.lk or cr.mk?
Yeah go for it. Experiment with what you can do against it. I had to at one point because Songi used to hit me with it randomly in the neutral a tonne.
If anything, if you still keep getting hit by it, you can at least change the voice to Japanese so that you don’t have to hear her shout ‘I CAN DO IT!’ all the time when she does it.
It’s what I did considering I couldn’t take her English voice especially whilst I was trying to work on my dive-kick set-ups… (HOW IS THIS!?)
I mean seriously on one side, I have some badass killer japanese voice which just has such a presence whilst fighting and on the other side I had some high pitched girl just saying obnoxious things which I am annoyed to understand. It had to go. The sheer imbalance in personality voice traits was too much to handle. Nowadays, I don’t really mind too much though mainly because I’ve become tolerant of the characters’ traits, I suppose.
Ah yes, also her EX Dendrobium (:qcf:+:p::p: ) is not a true block-string in the last two hits of the move; the part between the last strike and the knee attack which causes the wall-bounce a move with a good amount of invincibility can counter it pretty hard.
eng baby. I love heaing FAAAAAATTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! and it sounds like she’s getting…“handled” when being hit. Makes Juri vs Lili that much more interesting.
Nah not this time lmao. As much as I love my anti sfxt Iimpression, im wearing the joke out a bit. Soon im gonna be the guy known for under selling hwoarang and nina’s top tier hood.
