SFxT General Discussion #3 - Still Alive

No… no, it’s the one time you were caught.

So I played a really good Cammy player on PSN (Handsome_313) and man Cammy hits like a truck. Didn’t realize she was that good in this game.

HO HO HO HO HO HO HO! >=D

This changes nothing twerphead. :arazz:

EDIT: Ugh SRK is so buggy

 don’t get too upset now.

The reason I use mk.Senpusha instead of hk is so that I would be able to defend myself in case it gets blocked, especially online where shit happens most of the time. If it gets blocked I have the option to either jump away, block his punish, or use Kasatsushi to counter his punish attempt. Usually this is the perfect time for me to use that move as the only moves that can punish a blocked mk.Senpusha are long-reaching jabs and command grabs.

So far, that synergy combo only uses 2 bars if Juri starts the combo, 1 bar if Ryu starts it instead. I also need to increase the hits in order to build meter faster. I’m looking for ways to complete the synergy into a 3-bar combo so I might use your suggestions, thanks.

A lot of players say that Ryu pairs well with anybody, but I think it is Ken who is the go-to guy when it comes to synergy as his multi-hitting specials makes synergy a lot easier. The downside is that by himself, he doesn’t stand much of a chance due to his sluggish normals (which is weird, as because he’s supposed to be quicker than Ryu in-universe. Maybe he neglected his training way too much.) He is probably the Hawkeye of SFxT as he makes synergies better if he’s on point, I think.

Ken sets up. That’s his role. He goes on point and sets up into damage. His damage output will be going down though come 2013. When the patch drops Ken will have better buttons than ryu though, that’s if ryu is fully nerfed. I’ll still use ken because his lp dp gets a hit box buff so it can finally freaking anti air properly and not trade as easily. His super arts is gonna do more damage so a combo i once had will do more damage even though Lili’s launcher is getting nerfed. I enjoy playing ken because you really need to play some strict footsies and it feels good when i beat ryu’s or cammy’s with their gdlk med kicks. I personally like this version of ken even though most people hate him.

I like this version of Ken as well, which is why I’m sticking it out a bit longer. I find myself struggling a lot in the neutral game though with Ken…it might just be me or it might be Ken. It’s probably also because I have never used Ken before, in any other Street Fighter game.

I still have trouble doing mp dp on cue because it hits soo deep but i’m trying my best to improve my anti air game. I like using st.mp a lot because you can whiff it safely at most ranges and not risk being punished and if your opponent blocks it you’re +frames afterward. i rotate from st. lp to st.mp and a few cr.mk to hadokens or cadc to a throw. If anything ken’s throw gives him enough to charge up for a back mk if someone tries to roll towards you. I really want to see how much a difference 11 will be with fs.hk because that move has some potential but it’s unsafe. Since they toned down the minus frames on st.hk it will be a bit harder to punish it and may open some avenues of counter attack for ken.
If anything i’m trying my best to improve my ken each and everyday. I felt always that he was the weaker link in my team. But i feel that eventually I’ll balance out with both characters and have a full mastery of both Ken and Lili. Then i can finally move on to my next team…whatever it may be =)

I’ve spent a lot of lab time with Ken today, I’ve discovered that he can get 424 for one bar. Ryu gets marginally more for one bar, but all of his best tools are being nerfed in the patch. Meanwhile, Ken will still have all of his buttons functioning above average with his buffs. And with a nerf to rolls, I can only see Ken being better. He also brings (as you know) such great synergy to any team he’s in.

Also, his MP DP is the best anti air in the game, seriously. I rate it so highly, that goes for all of the Shotos DPs.And when timed deep, nothing will beat theirs.

As for that combo, I think all Ken players should try to make it his BNB. It also has a little bit of style to it.

Cr.Mk, St.Hk (chain) EX Tatsu, St.Hp, LP SRK, Cr.Mk, HP SRK. (424) Only at max distance will this combo not work, as his Fst.Hk isn’t special cancellable, and his Clst.Hp will whiff.

You’re going to want to change that regardless (to hk.fuhajin if you can’t confirm the senpusha) as when PC eventually gets patched (I live in a fantasy world where this is still possible!) lk senpusha becomes -5 and mk senpusha becomes -1billion. :frowning:

I said this many times already, but I’m curious about the target combo buff. Since if my math is right, with the new frame advantage on it, Target Combo xx CADC is +5 on hit, -2 on block. It’s already hard to react to, so this might have some more potential now, as you can’t even be mashed out of it, barring mashed supers (but who does that in this game?).

I’m gonna keep using Ken. Got some more games in with Fivz and did pretty decently compared to last time. Ken/Heihachi is still a great, fun team. I just need to work on my neutral game with Ken.

By the way…we should discuss some more stuff in the Ken boards. There’s like no activity there. I should post more matches…

sorry. yeah we should.
Ken’s mp dp is far better than hp srk in terms of invincibility. 7 frames is really great for a normal move. Hp atm is worth doing because it leads to more damage.
I hope the math is correct because that would make the target combo buff actually viable. Anyway we can go talk at the kens board.

Oh shit. :frowning:

By the way, the character who I tested the synergy combo with is Xiaoyu. I guess I should try different size types when coming up with a synergy combo which involves a juggle.

Oh boy, I’ve been wanting to say this…

Lol. Have you ever had someone talk mess about you because they beat you once, then you run a FT5 and beat them so bad that they apologize? Yeah that just happened. Scrubs these days.

Winning once is easy. Perhaps even more so in this game.

Winning consistently against someone is hard. Perhaps even more so in this game.

rules of sfxt.
Smarter player usually ends up the winner
Whoever makes the least mistakes win.
Know your bnb, especially the ones that do the most damage.
The more experienced player usually wins as well.

eh… to some extent SFxT has a similiar issue to Marvel, where learning about your opponent can be extremely costly.

It also has the problem of Marvel where-in it makes dealing with situations very simple/easy.

This is mainly the rules to every fighter

Although, when I first popped this game in, I got online as a D rank and beat an A+ rank. Experience doesn’t always win.
