SFV Lounge: SRK Cross Tag Battle

Falke’s really fun if you’re playing SFV, but you really don’t want to play SFV.
Shoot a bit, anti-air, maybe a Trigger activation, and see what happens.

Yeaaaaah…I think Im done with SF5 for a good long while and Im going back to USF4. I cant take the bullfuckery of this anymore and Ive already got a bleeding hand from the broken table. I made it to Diamond and thats all I needed. Its one thing to lose when you get just completely outplayed, its another thing when characters who are made to not give a fuck ruin everything you study and work at while you still have to pay by the rules. Akuma, Guile, Menat, Cammy, Rashid, Necalli, Urien, YOLO Ken, Im WAY over it at this point. Not entertaining getting punished for doing the right thing anymore. Back to Tekken/USF4 I go!!! LOVE YALL!

I see from your CFN that you played honest Laura. Retire on 14002

I’m getting the feel of Falke but I think for the first time since I’ve played SFV…Imma wait for Papa Capcom to buff her :^) Her outcry is so loud right now and she’s not even that bad…just requires a lot of calculations…I’d even say more than Menat

And I see Capcom is still giving us the middle finger through character win quotes…like they’re using that as a way to justify their fuckery Ryu vs Abi (win) quote still triggers me

Edit: VT1 is so much better than VT2 but I don’t care I know VT2 will get buffed sooner or later VT2 is fucking fun when it works

She’ll get a tiny buff then the whole world will be in a outcry and want her nerfed. I mean, just look at abi.

Nice little video where ChrisplainT asks Daigo about the best way to win tournament matches in 2/3 sets. Pretty good stuff that should help people with what to think about in ranked also. A lot of it is making sure you gauge the opponent within the first round of the first match. Also goes into how to adapt in SFV which is a more volatile game than SFIV.

Finally made it to Diamond a week ago. This is after spending 6+ months almost exclusively in Super Platinum. Been trying to buffer it and it’s been up and down but I’m at 14.2k right now. I don’t feel like a real Diamond until I’m at least at 15k because it only takes a few bad matches or one bad hour to send me back to Ultra Platinum.

Anyways, it’s strange but I’ve been playing the best I ever have recently. And it’s not like I think I’ve been lucky lately, I feel like I’m playing better than ever to this point. I don’t feel like a light bulb went off or I came to any realizations that helped me make this break through. It just happened as far as I can tell.

Maybe that’s just the way it is and it’s not like I’m suppose to have an epiphany. Whatever happened it’s still not helping me with the Ibuki match up. I’m still ass at that with barely a 40% win rate lol.

It’s good to pad yourself a bit above the minimum rank up points. Otherwise you’ll go into demotion hell and hate yourself.

Ibuki likes low health/stun characters because get more reward for landing hits. Ibuki had plenty of easy meaties and standing resets after hits so squishy characters let her maximize it. Especially with the new damage boost on back throw shit adds up quick.

Honest Laura is the best Laura

I feel the same way. This character can get away with murder. He might be more fair than sf4 but that’s not saying much since everything is super dumbed down in sfv.

Not only does he have an answer for everything, he can do everything you can do but better. To top it off, he has some bullshit moves. His c.hp is retarded. Its one of the few heavies thats plus on block (+5!!!) It crush counters, has good range, has tons of active frames and even more plus on hit. Ex demon flips are derpy as fuck and vt double air fireballs are complete bullshit.

Maybe its 8 years fighting akuma in sf4 that makes me salty since that character scumbags his way to victory with option selects but I’m tired of Akuma players getting away with bullshit. The same Akuma players that are getting away with fraudulent os/unblockable/vortex are getting away with his fraudulent vt garbage. At the end of the day, nothing is as bad as ssf4 ae 2012 akuma.

They should have never nerfed Abigail and Balrog just to keep Akuma in check. The only reason why Akuma and Guile arent nerfed is because of Tokido and Daigo.

One more reason why SF5 will remain the one true King of Fighters this generation. SF5 knows how to work those advertisers like a hooker working the streets.

Ibuki as a character is one of the few to not suffer the Akuma MU by design, there’s almost no possibility to fight him without a good amount of BS to disrespect him a bit. In SFV having some fraudulent tools/setups skyrockets a character into the top 5/10 realm, the others are playing a different game. I can kill Akuma with Zeku, but if my opponent force me to not taking any kind of risk I’m done. Being in good company doesn’t comforting me that much, but how strong Akuma is was clear. I don’t see Capcom nerfing him either, they’re afraid of making him not OP.

Actually it’s hard to not believe this. I mean, after 2yrs of SFV we still don’t get it a Japanese Capcom Cup winner, so…

Is there a list of vreversal sorted by speed? I found a nice os but I’m afraid it only works against slower vreversals

So there’s this chun li I simply cannot beat. Has average execution but supreme defense and a irritatingly unpredictable button pressing pattern.

I made a few mistakes and was being repetitive in the recorded matches and that’s only because it was the end of a long set and I was tired and running out of ideas. But overall the matches are pretty indicative of how it goes normally.

That super after fireball heh

Dude, this is something I wanted to tell you after our last set but never got around to it - you gotta jump more.

I mean, yes playing solid is good and all, but you can play solid and still find optimal points to go for jump ins. In fact, jumping in is pretty much a soft counter to an opponent who is trying to whiff punish you (an opponent looking for buttons on the ground will naturally react slower when he tries to anti air).

Based on my observations, right now you only ever jump when 1. You wanna ex tatsu 2. You’re going for oki situation and 3. You’re desperate. But an opponent who understands that about you will just focus 100% on countering your ground game… And yes that sometimes includes doing jump ins of their own. In the long run, this puts you at a disadvantage since any unanti aired jump in is very rewarding in this game.

Wow thanks. You hit the nail on the head about something I’ve been thinking about lately. After being told so much to stay grounded etc, I took it too seriously and without realizing, made this aspect of my game very single dimensional.
Funny enough, in matches where I’m forced to jump, I hesitate a lot and it gets used against me invariably.
Thanks again, will work on it.

This will mostly only effect entertainment channels (like max). People who want to do TOP 10 SICKEST FATALITIES and shit. Someone like me, I already know the tagging is fine since I have been testing that on my own and its all good its just the audio visual content. Me personally I just won’t show fatalties and shit I guess and otherwise it should? all be golden.
