Capcom told us to expect a meal then gave us a candy bar from the gas station and told us they will be right back because they forget go to the market.

Your fear or actuall Neutral and fleshed out characters is understandable.
After all you’re used to water downed, half characters, that have half their tools locked being a comeback mechanic.

SF is anime, if you want it or not.
Characters have anime inspiration, the main villian is magic Hitler and there are enough anime clichees all around.
You don’t decide what is anime and what not.
