I’m saying in the context of her overall toolset she’s fine with what she has for the most part. She shits on projectiles and has decent SFV neutral crash. You’re going to enjoy your meterless way to position yourself in neutral.
Cody has an EX neutral crash sure, but it’s not even projectile invincible and doesn’t go that far relative to the other characters. It’s the most overrated neutral crash in the game (and usually better in block strings). It makes sense for his toolkit because without EX Zonk he pretty much has to hold any other type of heavy zoning until he gets VT2.
This is exactly why so many people don’t get to balance things. They think in all or nothing terms and try to stock the fishpond in one go.
Juri for the most part is fine. She needs very small QOL changes everywhere, but the easiest changes to make are to up her damage across the board slightly, and up her HP. Once those 2 are done, nerf her anti fireball SLIGHTLY, and then buff her stores SLIGHTLY. Personally I’d make her stores have more range and that’s it.
Ex version would just store 2 instead of 1. Easy.
Only other buff I’d give her stores would be slightly less recovery on wiff but 5 frames or so. These are coming sense buffs and nerfs that can actually make the character better, yet not change her into something she isn’t.
But tbh. Just about every character in sf5 needs significant buffs. These are the weakest streetfighter characters there has ever been.
Guile has plus sonic booms and no seems to be worrying over his booms.
If sagat walks, or pushes you to the corner he should be rewarded even if he manages to get you in a tight shot trap in the corner. Gulie can with much better everything to get you to that point…
Plus its not like you can die from chip anyway.

That’s the problem with people balancing. They think that “balance” means “give them something good” when what balance actually means is “make THEM good” or “bring them in line with the rest of the cast”
Juri not only has good stuff… she has fucking great stuff. The problem is her “great” stuff is highly situational. That’s why a damage and HP buff strikes at the heart of her weakness. They aren’t situational buffs. And yet they aren’t also some shittily lazily designed kluge to help her just win, just because.
Situational stuff isn’t great. That’s not how FGs work xd the more niche in application a tool is, the less uses it has across MUs = the less effective it is.
Although I disagree with that statement entirely anyway, Juri’s kit is streamlined and pretty generalist, all of her options are weak though. Store damage is low, pokes don’t lead anywhere, her oki is subpar but she’s a rushdown focus, she can no longer clash/contest with her own fireball vs. others, fireball is no longer plus on block, she lost Feng Shui overhead conversions, her VTs are bad.
Her throw game and anti-projectile is about all she has going and every Juri player will probably throw the anti-projectile tools away if it meant getting an oppressive fireball back, or higher damage/better damage access on stores.
Bringing Juri , Vega in line with Akuma and Guile sure worked wonders for the past 3 years.
By the time that happens, if it happens at all, we will be playing Street Fighter 6.
Ofc, the game balanced by the vocal minority is always a bad idea,but there are clear things that are pointed out and accepted by even the pro players that Capcom is not making.
Nothing about Juri is great btw, except her charged v-skill and 3 framers.Everything else is mediocre,you can even grab her from ex ryo, need i say more ?
Ofc, her old projectiles were good because you could use them for multiple things.
Storing could slice other fireballs,you could use it as a zoning tool, combo extender and pressure tool.Sacrificing that for a worst version of Chun’s hazanshu…dude…

And she won the tournament. Juri disrespects fireballs and the neutral. She is bad for video games.
Situational stuff is great if you as a player can make it to the situations that it is great in…
That’s why situational stuff is hard to balance. Because ok… you’ve balanced the character… but how do you balance the human controlling the character…
So yeah, you can’t say situational stuff isn’t good… it’s just that the players are having a hard time using it. Some other player out there might come along and abuse the shit out of it. So theres still a balance quotient that needs to addressed.
That’s where juri becomes hard to balance from a design perspective.
That’s why the best balance for her is in line with her already available toolset. Make her HP higher, buff store slightly, give a bit more damage on her pokes.
Other than those things, anything else that comes up would have her need to be near completely redesigned because it would fuck up the delicate balance of her character ecosystem.
Nobody denied that.It’s commonly agreed upon that Juri counters Rashid ( sarcasm )even though the matchup makes you throw PC out the window if you are the Juri player.

Every time you throw boom, flash kick is down. So boom > boom with a 3f gap for the AA timing he can’t do anything.
