Looking at Twitter, the amount of people getting into UNIST after the Evo announcement is astounding.
My favorite of the day is a guy confused as to why there are so many gorillas photoshopped as Wagner.

Yeah losing honestly means somebody will pat you on the back for losing the right way, but you still feel bad because you lost. If you make the right reads and win or get closer than you did losing, then the stream monsters love you.

One of my big learning moments a long time ago, is that there’s no such thing as “losing right” if you lost, you should have made a different decision.

UNIEL is the one game where I just couldn’t find any character I liked. Whether it was design or playstyle
And none of the UNIST newcomers look like they’d fix that issue for me.
Ah well, at least it sounds like a ton of people are enjoying it which is good to see~
It’s certainly a weird one, it’s not to hard to get in from a SF background compared to other Anime games since is a very grounded game and it doesn’t have much in terms of aerial mobility.
The game engine is possibly flawless. It’s main drawback it’s the cast on the bland side.
Majikura said it best it’s basically “assholes fighting in the streets at night”
But despite that I believe it has a smart enough approach to some of it’s characters.
For example I play Yuzuriha. Usually iaido characters are the silent stoic kind, instead she is cheerful to the point she whistles her theme during her walk cycle.
If I actually take the time to learn UNIEL, Carmine would likely be my go to character.
Or Hilda.
I main Merkava cuz he makes stupid chicken noises and has long, flaily arms

This is good information. I’ve not followed the conversation or how it got to that point, but years ago ( maybe 8?) There was a guy that made a pyramid of play.
I can’t remember exactly the levels, but the pyramid suggested the only way to defeat a stronger ( stronger by a margin) player was unpredictability.
I think though that they’ve went too far in this current version. Some unpredictability should be strong, but when. 91% of the player base are playing like tards to get runs on the board, it kinda makes you wonder why we are here in the first place.
You see my theory is that even a guy like Punk,if he puts on the tard switch , his tard is like 4 times better than regular tard.
Hence why you get a lot of scrappy games in SF5 that are dressed up as " attacking play"

I truly believe UNIST is the best fighting game out there from a mere technical standpoint, despite that out of the big 3 of anime (UNI, GG and BB)
Is the one I enjoy the least. Still enjoy it a whole lot and it’s the one I play more consistently since my friends are into it.
Oh before someone jumps at me for not mentioning DBFZ as one of the big anime games, I’ll say officially that I was talking about single char games, the real reason though is that DBFZ can suck a dick.

Yeah, the thing about going HAM is that people ignore the strategic component of it. You are forcing your opponent to make quick, correct defensive decisions. Its possible they may, but the longer it goes on, the higher the likely hood they’ll crack.
Even though we celebrate the “do it until they stop you” strategy, there are certain levels of strategic psychological exploitation that are frowned upon.
Ceroblast’s buffoonery being one of those.
